Even more great reporting Teddy!

I think you are going at a great pace Pfft Keep it up, and get Pirazzi to win something Smile

baia
Well....Frown .. ok, Pozzovivo lost his lead but it wasn´t that bad stage from him.... ......was it?Rolling Eyes
No it wasn´t... he did what he could have done against stronger opponents.... 3rd place with Nibali biting Pozzovivo´s heels... need to be strong.Wink

Pozzovivo may have lost the lead but a podium place would still be a great result for him Wink

Teddy The Creator
@TomC Yes it is, thank you. Wink

@chris Yeah I think it was kinda inevitablem but it's still better than my overall lead.

@PCM rulezz Navarro has really good fitness clearly.

@valverde Thanks! Pirazzi will get his chance. Wink

@baia Yeah, I couldn't help losing that. Pozzo is 77 MO, while Nibali, Sanchez, Vino are all 80-81.

@sutty Yeah that's right, thanks.

i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd464/cunego59/Flags/it.gif Tirreno - Adriatico - Stage 6

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/tirreno6prof.jpg

This final road stage is a lumpy circuit race in and around Offida. As you can see from the profile above, there is a 7% section for 2 km just 4 km from the finish which will make the end of the stage interesting. This looks like a good finish for a sprinter like Oscar Freire, who can get over this sort of course. Pozzo will be riding freely today looking to gain any possible time he can. Last chance to get a stage win.

The Race

Once again, the little maestro Domenico Pozzovivo was flying away from the peloton near the start of a beautiful Italian day. This time he was off to take 5 KoM points and secure the jersey. Neither of his competitiors, Nibali or Santaromita, look worried..

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/tirreno1-4.jpg

And he takes them easily, wrapping up that classification for the rest of the race. Well done to him!

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/tirreno2-4.jpg

As Pozzo rolled back into the peloton to appluase from his competitors, his teammate Enrico Battaglin was off in an attempt to join the BOTD. With him were constants in this race's breaks, Manuel Mori and Ruben Perez.

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/tirreno4-4.jpg

They were soon joined by Thomas Rohregger and Matteo Trentin. Their lead was around 5 minutes, but would most definitely be caught soon-ish.

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/tirreno5-4.jpg

And just as Battaglin was re-joining the peloton, Samuel Sanchez was taking his oppurtunity to attack. Pozzovivo tries to follow but is boxed in..

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/tirreno6-4.jpg

With no chance to join him, Pozzo decides to try and beat him. He rushes to the front and lifts the pace to chase down the Olympic champion.

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/tirreno7-4.jpg

Pozzovivo attacks! He speeds away from the peloton, and no one can follow! 3kms now!

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/tirreno8-4.jpg

All the others are trying to catch up, the only one to catch Pozzo now though is Oscar Freire! They will sprint together up the final hill, who will take it?!

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/tirreno9-4.jpg

Pozzovivo takes it! His first win, and adds the points jersey to his Mountains jersey with this great ride! He only gains time on Navarro, but not the others..

Still in a nice position and great win!

Wow an amazing day for Pozzo!! But it will still be tough to hold off Nibali for the last podium position though.
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. Teach a man to cycle and he will realize fishing is stupid and boring.

Teddy The Creator
@valverde Yep thanks. This stage is decisive.

@chris Good day, yes. Wink We'll have to wait and see.

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/tirreno7prof.jpg

This is about the easiest time trial course you'll could ever ask for; it's basically a flat, out and back 9.3 km course on the San Benedetto del Tronto shoreline. Other than the first km and the turn around, this course is literally straightforward. It's all about pure power so surely a strong Lars Boom or EBH will win it, but the GC is where the real battle will be fought.

Pozzo leads Nibali by 25 seconds from third to fourth. A great time-trial will be needed by him if he wants to hold off the former Vuelta champ.

The Race

The day's number one favourite was out on the course early, in Lars Boom. A short time-trial specialist, this could be his day. Best time so far, but it's not too convincing, at a 12'26", definitely beatable.

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/tirreno1-5.jpg

Edvald Boasson-Hagen is out soon after, and he absolutely blows Boom's time out of the water. 12'14" is the best time by a mile. He will be very hard to beat, despite good rides from Andriy Grivko and Tejay Van Garderen.

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/tirreno2-5.jpg

And now Vincenzo Nibali, the fourth place of the GC, is off the blocks. The flat course doesn't suit him too well, and he comes in 19 seconds off Boasson-Hagen.

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/tirreno3-4.jpg

It's all down to Pozzovivo now. He needs to lose no more than 24 seconds over the course. But past the first time-check he's already 48 seconds down on Boasson Hagen, and 23 seconds down on Nibali. He needs a hueg second half.

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/tirreno4-5.jpg

And he delivers! As Pozzo wills himself over the line, he finished 24 seconds down on Nibali! That means 3rd place is his, by just one second!

The Race

Milano - San Remo, La classica di Primavera, the Spring Classic. Whatever you call it, you can't deny it's one of the biggest races on the calendar.

Being the longest professional one-day race, Milan – San Remo is an unusual test of endurance early in the season. It is won often not by the fastest sprinter, but one best prepared early. The Cipressa and Poggio have foiled many sprinters who could not stay with the front group. Despite its flat course and long finishing straight, sprinters teams have been foiled from time-to-time by a determined attack on the last hills. Good examples include Laurent Jalabert and Maurizio Fondriest escaping in 1995 and staying away to the finish. In 2003, Paolo Bettini attacked with several riders who all stayed away and in 2006 Filippo Pozzato and Alessandro Ballan attacked on the last hill and stayed away. Who will be this year's champion?

The Route

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/sanremoprofile.jpg

This year's road book is the same as in 2011, when Matthew Goss took the victory on the Lungomare Italo Calvino, the seafront promenade in San Remo. Generally flat, the parcours still have their treacherous moments, especially towards the end of the race when the various 'Capi' of the Ligurian coastline provide perfect opportunities for the strongest men to attack. This course most suits riders Fabian Cancellara, or Vincenzo Nibali (Who, suprsiignly, is not present), riders who will survive the climbs, and will have the power to get a gap on the riders down the Poggio. Sky, Garmin and Katusha will all try and keep the pack together for their respective sprinters.

The Team

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/sanremoteam.jpg

With their equally terrific form, Sacha Modolo and Domenico Pozzovivo will share the leadership role. If the peloton is in one piece come the finish in San-Remo, than Sacha is our man. If the stronger riders start to make some ground on the Poggio, it will be Domenico's race to win. Battaglin and Pirazzi will both be the top domestiques up the climbs, while the rest will be concerned with getting water bottles to the leaders more than anything.

Great job staying ahead of Nibali in the TT. Ended up being an amazing Tirreno with third overall and the points jersey. Very well done.

Looking forward to Tirreno.

Great story so far!

Colnago is one if my favourite, if not my favourite, team since those Ceramica days years back. Pozzovio was with the team even then and I still like him very much!

It's great that you could finish on the podium with him in the Tirreno-Adriatico while also winning the Points and Climbers jerseys.

Now get a great result at San Remo with Modolo!

Great ride for Pozzovivo in Tirreno! Hope to see him attacking in Milano Wink

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/sanremoprofile.jpg

The 300km epic La Primavera is here. You've learnt everything you need to know about this big race in the preview, so let's get racing!

The Race

The largest and most constant break of the day took a while to form, but finally grew a large lead. Their were some big names including Jean-Christophe Peraud, Carlos Barredo and Jelle Vanendert.

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/sanremo1.jpg

They were now heading down from the top of the Passo del Turchino, and had a 6 minute lead over the light-chasing peloton.

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/sanremo2.jpg

Leading the sub-dued charge was Team Sky, with Christian Knees currently at the front. It seems they would have to work the front all day to give their leader Cavendish a chance to win.

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/sanremo3.jpg

More attacks from the peloton, this time 4 riders. Nike Terpstra, Luis Leon Sanchez, Marco Marcato and Luca Paolini are the riders now getting a small gap.

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/sanremo4.jpg

As they were sucked back in though, LL Sanchez, Terpstra and Paolini went again. This time though, there were more followers. And some surprising attackers now, with Allesandro Pettachi, Andre Greipel and Nacer Bouhanni all riding away from the peloton. Pre-race favourites attacking early usually means they aren't confident in their ability to win individually. Bad sign for Lampre and Lotto.

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/sanremo5.jpg

But as those attacks also failed, the first breaks were nearly caught. But now Thor Hushovd tries to get a gap! The ex-world champ is BMC's third option today, so a free role is understandable. He won't win this race though...

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/sanremo6.jpg

And the Cipressa now greets the riders, with Damiana Cunego rising from the back of the peloton to start setting a pace that will surely cause some disruptions..

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/sanremo7.jpg

But over the top, Allesandro Ballan is off! A pre-race favourite finally makes a meaningful attack, with Sylvain Chavanel on his speedy tail.

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/sanremo8.jpg

While those two ride ahead, a small gap starts when the riders hit the Poggio. Fabian Cancellara, Johan Van Summeren and Juan Antonio Flecha are the lucky few getting a gap. Finally a Colnago rider starts to make a difference, as with Sacha Modolo having a bad day, Domenico Pozzovivo starts pushing the front of the peloton.

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/sanremo9.jpg

And on the decisive descent of the Poggio, Pozzovivo rides out of his skin to get a strong gap over the peloton, although it seems the 5 riders ahead would fight it out for the win...

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/sanremo10.jpg

Ballan is in a terrific position on Chavanel's wheel, it looks good for the ex-World Champ. A sprint will soon follow...

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/sanremo11.jpg

The three behind, led by Cancellara, are closing, but Ballan still looks confident in his sprint.

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/sanremo12.jpg

He wins! Ballan with one of the biggest classic wins of his career, and Chavanel comes in second. Cance and his companions sprint in together to round out the top-5.

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/sanremo14.jpg

And Pozzo rides in over the line alone for 6th place, probably the biggest result of his career! With Modolo struggling, he took the reins as leader, and delivered! Awesome ride!

i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd443/Teddy_The_Creator/sanremo15.jpg

And Tyler Farrar leads the peloton over, while it seems Mark Cavendish wasn't having his best day, only coming in 15th. Modolo sprinted well to 11th to round out a terrific day for the men in blue.
