I can certify that Martin hasn't any chance. They are less high mountain stages but in 2011, only two of them were really used and Pyrenees not. If climbers want it, they can make a dramatic race. Shock

I think contador will prevail because he will be able to make the most of the few mountain stages and then beat evans in the TT.

The question is: The 38km TT. Is it Individual or Team?

I strongly hope it's individual
The preceding post is ISSO 9001 certified

10 days in, surely that would be too late to have a TTT?

It's an ITT.

4 mountain stages and almost 100km of ITT. This must be Wiggins' best chance and the Schlecks may as well concentrate on the Giro.

It should be a hilly/technical TT too.

Good they remembered to put some decent ITT kms in this year, just a shame they forgot the mountains. Oh well, for the more climbing orientated GC riders, it will be interesting to watch the desperation to attack rather than the usual waiting game.

Chris Froome anyone?

No chance they do that

The Schlecks won't but they don't stand a chance next year with a TT heavy route and it's about time Andy at least winning a different race.

If it wasn't for Radioshack having Bruyneel as director, Radioshack could have given us a really interesting race in the few mountains there are next year. But Bruyneel isn't known for agressive racing, so I strongly doubt they will see the opportunities, and instead complain about the lack of big mountains at the end of the stages. Seriously though, if they do that, they won't have a man on the podium next year, which is great.

Sky with Froome and especially Wiggins must fancy this one, a great opportunity of getting a podium for them. Though, Contador must be the big favourite. What he showed in Italy this year was just amazing, compared to the rest of the bunch.

This is not official isn't it?

If this is the definite route then it looks like Bradley, Alberto and Cadel (Tony Martin??) have the best shot with all the ITT km's involved.

It's not been officially announced but it is the official route. There are no profiles yet but it was accidentally uploaded onto the Tour's official website.

Contador's got his name written all over this if he is allowed to race. We'll find out soon enough.

The route isn´t good for climbers, but i bet all my money that at least Andy (and maybe even Frank) Schleck will loose far less time per ITT-km than he did this year. A podium is definatly possible when he attacks in the mountains (even Bryneel should see that).
I still hope that Contador will be banned, the top-favourite is Evans although my prediction is that he won´t make the double.

The rumour a week ago was that it would be hilly/technical.

I'd be surprised if Froome goes to the TDF. He's already mentioned he will lead Sky at the Vuelta and Brailsford will probably prefer to have Froome fresh for the Olympics. It may give him an advantage in the ITT and he will probably be required to pull on the front for 150km in the road race.

I must have missed his announcement that he'd ride the Vuelta next year, but I wouldn't have expected him to ride the Tour anyway. This would probably be a brilliant course for him going on his Vuelta showing though, like it is for Wiggins, except Froome appears to be potentially a better stage racer.

So that's 96.1 km of ITT right? It's time for my first ever use of a banana in this forum:

Banana

I hope the Tour de France won't have the insanely low amount of ITT kms of the last years never, ever again.

Ok, I'm going to map the routes on Map My Ride to get a rough idea, and then we'll see just how easy or difficult they are. Personally, I don't think those flat stages are as Flat as they claim. Especcially those ones between Mountains.
