Wow the Vuelta got even more interesting here - though a minute is probably not going to be enough as yet for Intxausti and Valverde it certainly makes it harder for Contador and Schleck.
Great stuff from Haussler, he was pretty useless in the Giro had to resort to going on breaks. I suppose that stage was a good one for him with the hills, quite surprised the Santander sprinter made it - must be the national bonus (despite not actually being in Spain!) |

I suspected I might lose the lead today, so while its a shame its by 2 minutes, so might be too much to get back all in the tt - its great to see that Intxausti used his last day in the race lead, with the far better positioning that it brings, to gain a minute on Schleck and Contador. Without the race lead, Intxausti would almost certainly have been in the Schleck and Contador group, so good stuff. Also, Medvedev can now stop wasting energy on the flats and save himself up a bit for mountain support.

Well you clearly are confident in Andy's chances but valverde and benat 2 minutes plus nationality bonus plus conta , beah atleast a top 5 with andi and top 10 with janez will bring me some points.

Well Ive always thought Schleck will beat Contador, so that stage changes nothing. And Schleck beat Intxausti by 3 minutes last season in GC.

It's the nationality thing plus Benat is a lot stronger this year , and you had bad luck in giro , benat has a huge chance of taking it this year with a bit of luck compensating the bad giro

I would be very surprised if BeƱat won. Even now... I don't think that minute lost for Contador and Andy will be of any huge change... It's really bad losing a minute on Valverde, but I still have confidence that I will not be more than 30seconds behind him after the TT...

I think Valverde will end as the winner of the race, especially after Contadors very unlucky accident.

Schleck will kick Valverde's ass in the high mountains. As SN pointed before Schleck is/was the main favorite and not Contador, who even though is Spanish has a weaker RES stat and 4 points less than Schleck in REC.
Also Schleck is riding for Domina, which is clearly an advantage
Too bad Plaza lost time in the fourth stage. A good overall placing is still achievable but he and Cornu missed a great chance to be in the leader's jersey after the second time - trial. Also, Dekkers - he couldn't even beet Kreder, who was helping in the 5th stage.

Bye, bye Contador.
Getting tired of Serebriakov, though. |

Very nervy stage - Intxausti no doubt right at the back of the peloton now he is out of race lead. Contador's misfortune sucks for SotD and the race in general, but I guess it should only help Intxausti GC wise.

Ouch for Contador - brings Valverde a step closer to top 5. If he can somehow get into the leaders jersey - the Spanish bonus and leader bonus would be very useful.... |

rough on Contador but nice to see Farrar being consistent in the sprints thus far. Was not expecting much so anything i get from this race is a bonus.
