For me, nothing can match Simpsons, Family Guy and especially Red Dwarf (best show ever)
I am rather watching these again and again, rather then watch the stupid US shows (excluding Dexter). Overall i prefer British humour (Black Books, IT Crowd,Monty Pythons, Yes Minister) , which is in my eyes somewhat more intelligent and not operating only with sex and lavatorial humour
I agree with the Office. It's not quite the same without Steve Carrell. It's not bad, it's just different. Scrubs is also a great show. I also like NCIS, though it might be the kind of show you have to watch from season 1 onwards as character development is important. If you want to see what Americans are really like, watch Jersey Shore . In the MTV vein, I think World of Jenks(a documentary series) is their best show, followed by Death Valley(which is cross between Reno 911 and Zombieland), though to be tops at MTV requires very little
The only show I watch religiously though is the Daily Show. I feel incomplete if I don't get my Jon Stewart fix. I believe he was voted "Most Trusted Man in America" which should give you some idea of how much we trust our real newscasters, that we place our faith in a comedian.

Yeah The Office (english version of course) is great, if a little awkward at times. Green Wing is about the best thing that's ever been on TV although you do have to like quite surreal humour.
I actually prefer the American version of the Office. Although that may be because every time I see Ricky Gervais' face, I want to hurt him. A lot
I get that too I can put it behind me though, especially as when I first saw the office I hadn't seen all the other crap that came with him.
I think The Big Bang Theory hasn't been mentioned before - really great show, even more if you're a bit into that scientific and geeky stuff (but that's not necessary to like it, I think).
Probably my all time favorite is Scrubs, but you really have to like that kind of humour, I know a lot of people who think it's absolutely stupid.
Finished watching every season of 30 Rock. It's so awesomely clever and funny.

For all the Dutchies out here: you know Nieuw Dier?
It is an comedy existing of sketches with Sieger Sloot, Jeroen van Koningsbrugge and some others. It is a few years old, so it's not on TV anymore, but you can buy the DVD of it or watch it online. Here is one of the sketches:
Hello!
Anyone who had seen The Pacific?
I have seen the Band of Brothers serie for the 3rd time not and its still as great as the first time. So is The Pacific any good compared too Band of Brothers?
Maybe someone here has anyother good tip on a serie that I may like.
Something like Band of Brothers, Twin Peaks or Bron/Broen as i like those series.

I have seen Pacific, as a big fan of Band of Brothers and it is pretty similar just in the jungle with half invisible enemies
What i dont like are those romance intermezzos but without it, it would be less mainstream, which would be worse for HBO (they need naked girls in every series they release obviously). I would have prefered war, war, war in series about war. But the exteriors and the capturing of fights are excellent as in BoB.
Twin peaks are my favourite series of all time, unfortunately there is nothing like that in history of TV series, which could be even close to this masterpiece.
And i would like to say thank you to who recommended The Wire here (i think it was issoisso). Probably one of the best series ever, i had to watch episode after episode till i was done with it. Forget CSI and similar shite, this is crime series!

In my opinion, they are very different. I loved BoB and have sen it several times, but I actually didn't enjoy the Pacific.
Maybe my expectations were too high. You shouldn't watch it expecting a new BoB, then you will be disappointed.
I agree , i was trying to say that with that romance thing, also the fights are not so good
Edit: It also depens on how you are informed in battles history,as European part of WW2 is somewhat closer to me than the conflict in Oceania, so i was feeling everything deeper in BoB...
