Froome is looking very good. He is now favourite to win. |

I would hesitate a little to call him the favourite after gaining 3 seconds like that, especially since seeing how a relatively minor crash in Dauphine caused him to be completely off on the last stage. If anything I would say his position is slightly weakened.
Quintana is still the favourite to me. |

Froome been reading Rodriguez's tactical handbook it seems, in this case break free in the final few hundred metres of the climb and see what time you can nick.
He must still be haunted by those seconds he was missing to Cobo. #NeverForget

Yes you don't do moves like that unless you are feeling good. Yesterday also he was looking good. Way he closed gap. I think he may win this one especially with 2 TTs left |

Good input and something I didn't consider. Strangely, the 'unbeaten' is not unbeatable as his numerous (way too much) secondary, almost-wins proves. You are probably right when suggesting that his aura, reputation and respect isn't the same as Cance and Contador. Say, if he just turned one of his WC 2nd, 3rd and whatever into just one win, and same for the Liege placements which would put him at 3, it would make a much better case. But the major thing here is the Tour. In '05, '06 and '13 he was more than capable of going on the Podium (realistically winning in '06), but as we all know, bad luck has hampered him.
I dont really know who I would consider the best of this era, as my comment at first was said jokingly when I realised there might be some truth in it. If we are counting WT-points, Valverde is the flat out winner, but there is so much more to it. I dont know.
This got me thinking. And I just calculated how many CQ-points the best riders of the last decade (from 2004-2013, didn't count 2014 yet as it's still ongoing) have scored. Valverde has the most by far, despite his suspension through 2010 and 2011. Cunego's high placing surprised me, but he scored loads of points from 2004-2009.
See the list for yourself.

Frank above Andy surprises me, always thought that Andy was the better one
personally I was going to suggest to average the average stats in PCM games

So, Cunego the best climber and Farrar the best sprinter?
Good work btw. |

Andy has/had more potential definately. But Andy never cares about any race besides the TdF. Fränk does. |

Sounds like there was a real shot of my two favourite riders winning on back to back stages. Oh well.

Hesjedal really should have had that one, and of course that is disappointing.
But this time there actually is a way to look on the bright side. Martin looked much better. Pretty powerful attack in the final there that only Gilbert could respond to, and Hesjedal held on for 4th. We only gained time, and a 2-6 is better than 99% of days for Garmin this year.
Just wanted to say classy celebration by De Marchi there flashing the Cannondale jersey even though he is going to BMC.
Edit: Also worth noting that if Dan can hold his form he is looking good for the Points Classification.

He only cared for Tour and LBL where he won one time and hat a few more great results. Other than that he did nothing from Februar to Oktober. he was Armstrong 2.0 |

Surprised by the fact that Italy is 2nd atm. The real question is whether Urán, Chavez and Quintana (possibly Arredondo on breaks) can stand up to Contador, Rodriguez and Valverde. I will have to go with the spaniards |

I'm glad I didn't turn the TV on today. That Hesjedal's crash would've really made me furious. |

It was disgustingly frustrating to watch, but in the end, if you didn't know he had crashed, it wasn't a bad day for Garmin.

It is way too early to call him a favourite, there is a lot of racing left to go and lots of climbs to master yet !!! |

Even though he crashed, he took time on the other GC riders today. So don't think the crash will have any impact on his performance. He won't lose the Vuelta because of that crash
