@sutty68: he is surely one of our best elements.
I'm sorry for the lack of reports for the past few days but my motivation is not as high as it was when I started it. I really want to continue the story at list until I start my PCM14 one. But I think that the frequency of reports will be reduce and their length too. (except for the next one )
Anyway, I played Paris - Roubaix and the report shall be online at list tomorrow (PCM14 Live obliged).
I hope that you will understand

@sutty68: I know that motivation is a problem for almost every story makers but I think it's more like I'm getting bored of always doing the same races.
@the_hoyle: Since Sagan and I have the same profile, it will and it is already a real problem for me
Paris - Roubaix
A well known race, perhaps the hardest of the calendar. I will definitely gave all I have in me to get a good results.
The Squad:
William BONNET
Arnaud DéMARE
Matthieu LADAGNOUS
Marvin LEGRAIVE
Anthony LOUVEILLE
Yoann OFFREDO
Cédric PINEAU
Dominique ROLLIN
Pre-Race:
I think that for you to understand the team's plans, it's better if I put a little resume of this morning briefing:
Marc Madiot: "Today we will go all in on Matthieu, he is in good shape and he performed well in the past races. He already won in Roubaix and I think that this year he could do it again.
Anthony, I know that you would have liked the leadership here but I don't think you have the abilities today to make a good result. Instead I want you with Matthieu as long as you can so you can help him in the final cobbled sections.
Last but not least remember that every time you will use your brakes, you will lose useful energy for later in the race. Avoid the falls and arrive alive in Roubaix, I'll see you in hell."
I think that you'll understood that I was not the main priority of the team this year but I agreed with the plan, Matthieu has more chances to win than I have.
The Race
Like always in race like that, some riders want to make the first kilometers at the front. And this year was not an exception. A group of 6 riders knowing they would have no chances in the finish made their way out off the pack.
A group of three riders were well determined to go at the front too and with 120 kilometers to go, Sylvain Chavanel (IAM), Johan Vansummeren (GRS) and Vincent Jérôme (EUC) were almost back on the breakaway.
Marcus Burghardt (BMC), Geraint Thomas (SKY), Jasper Stuyven (TFR) and Sebastian Langeveld (GRS) waited 20 kilometers before going on the attack too. Which was now making 13 riders away from the pack.
Sylvain Chavanel (IAM), Johan Vansummeren (GRS) and Vincent Jérôme (EUC) were the first to enter the Trouée d'Arenberg as they had got away from the other riders from the breakaway.
The pack arrived 5'48 later and it was led by Belkin riders. Lars Boom (BEL) and Sep Vanmarcke were clearly the favorites of the race today alongside Niki Terpstra (TEL).
FDJ.fr was never far from the front of the pack to avoid any problems and Matthieu was still well surrounded.
With 60 kilometers to go, a group of 23 riders was getting away and 6 of us were in it. Only Marvin Legraive and Cédric Pineau were missing.
This time, the group was led by Lars Boom (BEL) and Sep Vanmarcke (BEL) themselves.
37 kilometers to go, Sep Vanmarcke (BEL), Damien Gaudin (ALM) and Tom Boonen (TEL) are trying to get away.
Good reaction of Yoann as he immediately took the commands of the group. Later I heard that Niki Terpstra (TEL) was not in the group anymore.
After a first failed attempt, Sep Vanmarcke (BEL) tryed again but this time with Alexander Kristoff (BMC) in support. This time i made the chasing to avoid this two riders going to far.
22 kilometers to go, Lars Boom (BEL) has accelerated and Stijn Vandenbergh (TEL) was already in his wheel. Matthieu felt like it was the time to go and he accelerated too. Yoann Offredo was still feeling good so he slow down the pace of the group to let those 3 go away.
I was struggling at the back of the group and my only hope was to stay in the wheels as long as possible.
Carrefour de L'Arbre: Matthieu was all alone already and his chasers were losing ground on him. The four chasers were Lars Boom (BEL), Stijn Vandenbergh (TEL), Sep Vanmarcke (BEL) and Alexander Kristoff (BMC).
I had managed to stay in the "main" group but we already knew that we would not fight for victory.
Last Sector, Roubaix: The race was for Matthieu and he knew it already. His chasers were not that far but they were getting tired too. In our group, Edvald Boasson Hagen (SKY) and Yoann Offredo had accelerated. no one dare to answer so I once again managed to stay in the wheels.
Velodrome, Roubaix: He entered the Velodrome first with a 29" gap. The race could at any moment be a disaster for us. But it appeared that Lars Boom (BEL) was losing time on Matthieu.
I entered the velodrome in a 10 rider group with a delay of 2'55. I had legs for a sprint but their was many riders who could contest me the top 10.
If things were going that way, Yoann shall be able to get a top 10 too as he was in front of our group.
After one hell of a race, Matthieu brought the precious victory home. I was really happy for him but my race was not over yet.
Yoann arrived in seventh position which another good result for the team.
I focus my sprint on Tom Boonen (TEL) but i was never able to get through him, I ended at the gate of the top 10 taking a disappointing 11th position.
Matthieu Ladagnous | Équipe Cycliste FDJ.fr
Sep Vanmarcke | Belkin Pro Cycling
Lars Boom | Belkin Pro Cycling
Lets brought some fun facts about the race, only 55 riders arrived inside the time limits, 7 teams ended the race before Roubaix and only 11 teams managed to get 3 or more riders in the final classification.
The cobbled Classics are no over for the season and the Ardennes will start in one week. I will take part in the three with a small hope of a result there even though Arthur Vichot will be the main leader for the team.

He might be disappointed, but 11th here is still pretty good
Especially considering who he was up to in the sprint! |

A very good day on the cobbles from Anthony , wish he had gotten in to the top ten though.
But what can be said about Matthieu Ladagnous, what an Awesome win for himself and the team |

@SSJ2Luigi: Even worst than the 4th one
@Ian Butler: When I watch the full results, I can tell you that I was pretty glad I made it inside the time limit, but once again 11th is not the best spot I could have get. Stybar, Warbasse and Boonen appeared to be stronger but next year the situation will be different I hope.
@sutty68: I wish I was inside the top 10 too but that's cycling, we are 200 fighting for only one position.
And Matthieu had his best day of his career, I mean he already won Paris - Roubaix but this time he proved he was a worthy winner.
One day after Paris - Roubaix, a pre-selection for the Tour de France was announced by Marc Madiot. It is composed of 14 riders for only 9 spots. The names he called are:
William BONNET
Mickaël DELAGE
Arnaud DéMARE
Alexandre GENIEZ
Matthieu LADAGNOUS
Oscar Emil LANDA
Pierre-Henri LECUISINIER
Anthony LOUVEILLE
Rudolph PEZET
Cédric PINEAU
Thibaut PINOT
Jérémy ROY
Jimmy TURGIS
Benoit VAUGRENARD
Being in that Pre-Selection means that I will be invited to training camp to prepare for the race. And to prepare some important stages of the Tour.
After the Giro d'Italia a list of 11 riders will be made and the final selection will be announced after the Tour de Suisse and Before the National Championships.
Other News but not concerning the team, Patrick Levèvre had announced earlier in a press conference that he would stop the partnership of Telenet. It appeared that they were changing the team policy into a GC team and he was not fan of it. He also announced that QuickStep would be back as a secondary sponsor.
Their main sponsor has not been revealed yet bu he should be in the fext few months.
His disappointment was that both Tom Boonen and Mark Cavendish had decided to leave the team at the end of the season. |

@sutty68: My current form won't last until the TDF but I'll have to get it back in time
@the_hoyle: Thanks I hope that'll ride my first Tour de France this year.
Amstel Gold Race
The Squad:
Arnold JEANNESSON
Anthony LOUVEILLE
Yoann OFFREDO
Thibaut PINOT
Anthony ROUX
Benoit VAUGRENARD
Jussi VEIKKANEN
Arthur VICHOT
Pre-Race:
Arthur won the race last year, and there are no reason we shall not defend his title. Today it will be all eyes on Peter Sagan as he had a great start of season. My job will be to abort any attacks from the guy.
The Race:
The first one to attack today was Jussi Veikkanen and he had to wait during about 70 kilometers before being allowed to have riders with him at the front. Once the group of chasers was allowed to go, Jussi slow the pace down to let them come back on him and to form a 6 rider group.
The first "big name" to attack was Philippe Gilbert (BMC) and it was 38 kilometers from the finish line. No team really took his attack seriously and they let him go without worrying much.
While Gilbert (BMC) was still at the front, Peter Sagan decided to attack with 24 kilometers to go. I jumped in his wheel and we quickly got back on the front man. There, Sagan attacked again and I was unable to follow him so I had to let him go.
Thanks to the work of Benoit Vaugrenard and Yoann Offredo, we managed to get him back before the last ascension of the Cauberg where Arthur Vichot took the lead of the pack.
He put a last acceleration in the last kilometer and then he enjoyed his second success in a row in that very difficult race.
Thibaut Pinot who's there to test his legs took a great 6th position and me, guess what ... I ended 11th.
Arthur Vichot | Équipe Cycliste FDJ.fr
Vincenzo Nibali | Fly Emirates
Peter Sagan | Fly Emirates
Once again the team was really strong, I played my part and I still had some resources to sprint in the final. I missed the top 10 once again but I'm sure that it will come soon.

@sutty68: Thanks, the team is in fire at the moment as Matthieu won the Tro-Bro Leon few minutes before we were on the Cauberg
@Ian Butler: I still have some good shape from the Flemish Classic, I hope It will last until LBL were I will make a small break from competition.
La Flèche Wallonne
The Squad:
Arnold JEANNESSON
Pierre-Henri LECUISINIER
Anthony LOUVEILLE
Thibaut PINOT
Anthony ROUX
Benoit VAUGRENARD
Jussi VEIKKANEN
Arthur VICHOT
The Race:
Like in the Netherlands, the breakaway suffered to get formed but as it was under the impulsion of Jussi Veikkanen, a group of 6 riders managed to get away form the pack.
And then came the sprint, wait I did not talk about the race, of course nothing happened in that f...g boring race. Every team wanted to get well positioned at the beginning of the Mur de Huy and as the pace was too high, no one dare to attack. I wanted to go away with 25 kilometers left but Fly Emirates riders put me back in the pack and they told me to stay put.
The sprint got conclude by the victory of Carlos Alberto Betancur Gomez (ALM), Arthur Vichot ended 5th and me, it becoming an habits, I took 11th position.
Carlos Alberto Betancur Gomez | Ag2r - La Mondiale
Rui Alberto Faria Costa | Lampre - Colombia
Daniel Martin | Garmin-Sharp
Race Ranking 1 | | Carlos Alberto Betancur Gomez | Ag2r - La Mondiale | 5h00'32 | 2 | | Rui Alberto Faria Costa | Lampre - Colombia | s.t. | 3 | | Daniel Martin | Garmin-Sharp | s.t. | 4 | | Jelle Vanendert | Lotto - Belisol | s.t. | 5 | | Arthur Vichot | Équipe Cycliste FDJ.fr | s.t. | 6 | | Jonathan Hivert | Belkin Pro Cycling | s.t. | 7 | | Tony Gallopin | Lotto - Belisol | s.t. | 8 | | Vincenzo Nibali | Fly Emirates | s.t. | 9 | | Peter Sagan | Fly Emirates | s.t. | 10 | | Nairo Alexander Quintana Rojas | Movistar Team | s.t. | 11 | | Anthony Louveille | Équipe Cycliste FDJ.fr | s.t. |
It's become too recurrent, the race must be renewed or it will lose its popularity, I hope that next year, the organizer will try something to avoid such a boring grace.
Concerning the race, Arthur did well once again but that's not the kind of finish he likes as it is too steep.

@the_hoyle: Thanks, the results are great indeed and we can only hope for it to continue
@sutty68: Thanks, let's hope I'll be more successful in the next races
Liège - Bastogne - Liège
The Squad:
Arnold JEANNESSON
Anthony LOUVEILLE
Thibaut PINOT
Anthony ROUX
Benoit VAUGRENARD
Jussi VEIKKANEN
Arthur VICHOT
Emilien VIENNET
Pre-Race:
The last of the three Ardennes Classics, We had good results lately with Arthur Vichot but two days ago he caught a cold and he is not at 100% of his capacities anymore.
It has been decided in the briefing that Thibaut and I shall be co-leader.
The Race:
After being in the break in the past two races, Jussi did it again, this man really know how to take the good train to leave . The Belgian Champion, Michael Van Staeyen (TSV) was also in the breakaway even thought the profile of the race was not really make for a sprinter like him.
We had to wait until the kilometer 231 to see an attack. Their was only 28 kilometers to go when Andrey Amador Bikkazakova
(MOV) and Simon Clarke (OGE) tried to escape the pack.
When we caught the breakaway and the front en, Jussi Veikkanen offered me a lead out in a very steep road. There was 17 kilometers to go and I really wanted to try something.
When I attacked, I was quickly followed by other riders and it was not small names at all, Michal Kwiatkowski (TEL), Philippe Gilbert (BMC) and Andrey Amador Bikkazakova (MOV) and I were off for a big fight against a pack launched at full gas by Peter Sagan's team mates.
With 4 kilometers to go, Philippe Gilbert (BMC) and Vincenzo Nibali (EMI) tried to escape the group, I had no resources left to follow them but the pack behind brought them back very quickly.
Last corner, two men are fighting for the victory, the other seemed less strong than this two who were Rui Alberto Faria Costa (LAM) and our very own Thibaut Pinot (FDJ). They fought hard but only one could win the race.
And unfortunately for Thibaut, Rui Costa (LAM) was the fastest in the end.
The podium was completed by Peter Sagan (EMI) who seemed less strong than he used to be by the past.
I took the 15th position without any regrets, I tried it did not worked but at list I took risks.
Rui Alberto Faria Costa | Lampre - Colombia
Thibaut Pinot | Équipe Cycliste FDJ.fr
Peter Sagan | Fly Emirates
The first part of my season is now over, I will took a week to recover and then I will fly to Chambery for the Tour de France Preparation in the Alpes.
Another Training Camp is planed in Tarbes but it will come later in May.
With all the things I did in the past few month, I really think that my participation to the Tour de France will be a reality. I'm a good finisher, I can help in the sprints, in the Hilly Stages and even at the start of the Mountain Stages I could imposed the pace. And If I ever managed to be in a breakaway, then I shall be able to dominate it.

@the_hoyle: It's true that we had an amazing classic season so far, but it's not over yet, we the fall classics.
The team will now have to focus on the GT and firstly on the Giro d'Italia where Kenny Elissonde is highly expected.
@Ian Butler: Thanks, it was hard to watch the other sprinted while I had no energy left
a quick fun fact, at the mid season actualy, FDJ.fr managed to have a rider in the top 5 of each WT classic:
