After dropping to the depths of the CT circuit, INM pulled its sponsorship. Luckily, EvoPro Racing stepped in to keep the team going.
It's a contract year for a lot of cyclists on the team and EvoPro has been adamant about making the team more Irish in the future. So, a lot of us foreigners are riding to secure a contract for next season, either here or elsewhere.
The Captains
Adam Blythe
Marcus Diamond
Dinmukhammed Ulysbayev
Complete 2021 Squad
My Thoughts
We have a team leader for every terrain: Ulysbayev (mountain), Blythe (sprints), Toft Madsen (TT) and myself (cobbles/hills). No flashy standout cyclists, but we are all decent. It's going to take a team effort to get back to the PCT circuit.
Also, the growth of Alex Vogel over the last year is remarkable. She will be a vital helper for Blythe and hopefully gets a few opportunities of her own. Vogel is in her prime years, she has to take advantage and make her mark.

- Each member gets 3.0 points to spread however they like over the 13 attributes listed above. One post per member.
- Stats work on a decimal system starting at 55.0.
- Stats are bumped up in PCM when they hit that number, ex. 55.9 = 55 in-game, and 61.4 = 61 stat in-game.
- The decimal numbers will remain hidden.
- There is a threshold for each stat when more points are needed to increase that stat. It's start off on a 1-to-1 scale where 1 point equals 1 stat upgrade. However, the scales get exponentially further and further apart the closer that stat gets to the maximum of 85. The increasing scale will also remain a mystery.

Pedal Faster: Which ever attribute receives the most training points will be double. If there is a tie, the attribute which receives the double points will be chosen at random between those stats.
+3 Cobble, If he's leading here then he needs to make sure he's at his best, and this will only help his side get Cobbled wildcards if he gets back into PCT next season.

Preseason friendlies are important when trying to make a team, but I've already secured a starting spot for Limerick FC this upcoming season. So, I had chat with management and they allowed me to skip a pair of friendlies to travel to New Zealand/Australia for some early cycling action.
Only one friendly to report in this update.
Friendly vs. Grasshoppers Club Zurich
January 23, 2021
One of the top clubs in Switzerland comes to visit.
Spoiler
Grasshoppers 3, Limerick FC 0
Summary: Grasshoppers dominate a sloppy Limerick side. Limerick only managed one shot on goal, despite holding 55% of possession.
Rating: 6.7 - My mind was already on packing for my working vacation. Limerick tied 2-2 in the other January friendly that I missed.
Player of Game: Numa Lavanchy, Grasshoppers (9.1)

Stat Lock: Marcus Diamond is reaching the point of his career where his potential isn't limitless. While his prime is still on the horizon, to get there his focus needs to be locked in. As such, Diamond gets his first stat lock.
Any attribute that receives less than a point during this training ground will be in danger of getting locked. Locked attributes can't receive points in future training grounds. Only under rare circumstances can attributes be unlocked.
Since he's a central player, I don't mind it being long throws. I guess we should make a list of the order of preference for locked stats and try save every other stat.
Here's a list of ones that if it comes to it I think we don't have to save. Others can agree, disagree or add more!
Long Throws, Jumping Reach (He's 6'1 and not a centre back or striker), Aggression (11 is fine, don't need it too high), Tackling (11 is quite good for an attacking mid though this is still nice to upgrade), Free Kick Taking (Would like him to keep going but doesn't have to), Leadership (This is still worth saving if we want Marcus to have a future there and could also help him in cycling in a non-game way but not essential to him as a player), Goalkeeper Rating (if that counts )
There's 36 attributes so we'll need a big effort to just keep it to these ones or whatever we decide

You've not mentioned Corners (already strong enough at 14), Penalty Taking (good enough for a shootout, but strikers should take them over him normally, seems a waste to continue to improve it), Heading (he's not a defender or Striker so not key to his position)
Do we think 16 Determination is now high enough? I was trying to raise it because it has a impact on stat gains on normal AI players that we are not upgrading ourselves as well as in match impact.
I'm not sure about risking locking Tackling, I'd rather raise his tackling than his marking for instance as he shouldn't be man marking players apart from set pieces but if a new manager doesn't use a CAM then he will need to play CM more where tackling is still important. I'd prefer to get Tackling up to 13/14 before we risk it being locked if we have enough people to save it.
+1 Crossing
+1 Work Rate
+1 Teamwork
+1 Off The Ball
+1 Anticipation
Would recommend the next person (someone please, these are still really good attributes) does:
Agility
Bravery
Balance
Natural Fitness
Tackling
Leaving only the ones we have discussed as prepared to lose If anyone comes in after that then here are the ones that might still be nice to keep if we can:
Heading
Determination
Leadership
Penalty Taking
Free Kick/Corners
Aggression
Think marking and long throws aren't needed

Warm beaches, cold drinks... The temptation to put pleasure before work. It's my first time visiting this part of the world, so I still have to take in all the sights and sounds. We have three travel/off days between our race in New Zealand and the Herald Sun Tour starting in Melbourne, Australia.
Hopefully, my teammates and I don't cause too much trouble in that time.
Race Day #1 at Gravel and Tar
January 27, 2021
EvoPro with a three-headed GB attack of Blythe, Fenn and Diamond.
Spoiler
Summary: Switching between road terrain is more of an inconvenience than actually a challenge. Although, riding extended stints on the gravel can fluster even the best cyclists.
There is a split with 20kms to go. Seventeen cyclists have found a small gap over the peloton. There are also still four morning breakaway riders up the road but are bound to be caught.
The final gravel sector proves to be an equalizer. The favourites are all coming back together for a final sprint.
Two sprint trains form with a variety of teams involved. Only 30 cyclists have found themselves at the front for this finish.
Shooting the front to snag the victory was 21-year-old budding star Tjeu Orie from the new Team TomTom squad.
Result: 17th - I was on Orie's wheel during the sprint and then he rode away from me like it was nothing. Quite impressive. EvoPro Racing put three guys in the Top 20: Blythe (7th), Fenn (12th) and myself.

Trouble: Some of the boys got too drunk at the team hotel after Gravel and Tar race and were shipped home for violating team rules. Those involved included Silver Maoma, Andrew Fenn and "Dino" aka Dinmukhammed Ulysbayev.
They missed out on a fun day of beach hopping and sight seeing the next two days in Australia. I mostly hung out with Australian teammate Chris Herbert. He showed me around and got me into some events.
A majority of the time, though, Herbert was approaching girls as my unofficial wing man. I didn't ask for this. He was just sick of hearing me complain about the mix signals I was receiving from Alex Vogel.
"Dude, forget it. You are on vacation. Alex isn't even here. Let's have some fun and get your mind off it. Live a little... Oh, how about her?" Herbert said while already approaching her.
"Hi there, sorry to bother you, my friend here won't stop sulking about a relationship he isn't even in. Could you help him out? If not, I'm also available," Herbert said with a cocky smile.
The girl didn't even make eye contact. Herbert continued: "Miss, he's a professional athlete. Not very funny, but a pretty decent guy."
I had to punch Herbert on the arm to get him to stop.
The girl actually turned around, perplexed by the offer, and looked Diamond over: "Sorry, I'm already taken (flashes wedding ring)... But, I have a friend staying with me who might be interested."
"For me or him?" Herbert interjected.
"Definitely him," she said while looking directly at me. "She's an actress and is struggling to find work at the moment. She could use somebody like you to take her mind off things."
Herbert nudged me forward and I took down the digits.
The next day while waiting around in the team hotel, Herbert handed me my phone... "Hey, when did you steal that..."
The phone was already ringing. I should really put a password on it.
"You're welcome," Herbert said as a girl picked up on the other end.
"Hello?"
"Hi, um... yeah," I stumbled over my words, unsure of what was going on and what I should say. "Yes, hi. My friend is being an idiot and trying to play match maker. I'm sorry to bother you. Enjoy the rest of your day."
"Wait... Are you the guy my friend was telling me about from yesterday?"
"... Yeah, that's probably me."
"Look, I know this weird, but I'm open to the possibility. I just got out of a long-term relationship, so I'm not looking for anything serious."
"Honestly, I'm kind of pursuing someone else right now. Then again, it's not really going anywhere at the moment."
"I get it. No pressure. Just text me later if you want to hang out."
I didn't know what to say and paused for a few seconds.
"Oh, by the way, I'm Marcus." She had already ended the call.
After much thought and plenty of peer pressure from Herbert, I decided not to text the mystery girl. Too sketchy for my standards.
Karma rewarded me.
Later that evening, the EvoPro Racing replacements for the Herald Sun Tour arrived at the team hotel in Melbourne. I was surprised to see that Alex was one of the new cyclists brought in.
We decided to grab dinner and catch up.
That's when my phone buzzed. It was her. Alex caught a quick glimpse of the text because my phone was on the table. There was a moment of awkward silence.
"So, who's this 'Mystery Girl,'" Alex said with a slight smirk.
Trapped, but I didn't want to lie: "Someone Chris (Herbert) is trying to set me up with. It's nothing, really. I don't even know her name."
Alex jokingly grabbed the phone out of my hand, "Let me see."
I had just opened the text message, "So, are we doing anything tonight?" Oh, and of course, there was a picture.
Alex nearly fell out of her chair: "No way. There is no way. Is this a joke?"
"What?" I said confused. "Do you know her?"
"That's Alycia. You know, from Fear the Walking Dead."
"I don't watch TV."
"Seriously?"
"I don't have time for it. And that can't be right, I'm probably getting catfished or something. Is that what they call it?"
Alex glanced down at the picture again.
"Well, it's definitely her in the photo. I say go for it, but that's just because I'm a big fan. And, I mean, come on Marcus. Look at her, you are going to pass that up?"
Alex handed me my phone back with a look of excitement on her face. I always wanted to invoke that look from her, but this time it was different.
This time it came with a non-verbal message — she didn't care if I chased after another woman. She only saw me as a friend.
I texted Alycia back.

Spectator: After the morning prologue, Marcus noticed Alycia in crowd. Well, technically Alex spotted her first and ran over to get a photo.
"Sorry about my friend, she's a big fan," Diamond said. "What are you doing here?"
"Just thought I would check out this whole cycling thing. You wouldn't stop talking about it last night, so I had to see what it was all about."
Alex, sensing she was a third-wheel, made a departing comment: "Well, it was nice meeting you."
As Alex wandered away, Diamond pondered on what he should say next.
"Well, thanks for coming out. I really enjoyed last night...
(Option A) "... are you interested in doing something again tonight?"
(Option B) "... I'd love to hang out again sometime, but right now isn't the best time. I have to stay focused on cycling."

If you haven't noticed by now, I like to live vicariously through these fantasy worlds I create. It makes this fun for me. Also, actresses always have plenty of photos for me to re-use.
