I don't agree, but Sánchez has a much better sprint
EDIT: And of course the descents

I think Sánchez is a bit better, but I guess it's hard to know atm. Sánchez is very fast yep, although maybe 'much' is a bit of an overstatement? Costa ain't slow.

Costa can win one week (world tour) stage races. Sanchez has only won one after Contador had a fringale.
Edit: Sanchez is better all-around and can win cobbled races if he would care

Yeah, well in weak fields. Still think he's better, but not that much. Anyway, the point is that they have a similar style, not compare all their skills one by one.

Some tweets that sum up today for me - no denying Costa's fine performance after being off the front for so long that's for sure:

Not that long a climb but excellent performance at the end of a tough stage and from the break too. No wonder he had a minute by the summit.

Relevant bit of the rule book for the elimination time here:
Coefficient 4 (very difficult stages)
The permitted finishing time is calculated
according to the winner’s finishing time plus:
• 7% if the average speed is less than or equal
to 30 km/h
• 8% between 30 km/h & 31 km/h;
• 9% between 31 km/h & 32 km/h;
• 10% between 32 km/h & 33 km/h;
• 11% between 33 km/h & 34 km/h;
• 12% between 34 km/h & 35 km/h;
• 13% between 35 km/h & 36 km/h;
• 14% between 36 km/h & 37 km/h;
• 15% between 37 km/h & 38 km/h;
• 16% between 38 km/h & 39 km/h;
• 17% between 39 km/h & 40 km/h;
• 18% over 40 km/h
Edit - I make it 12% for today and therefore around 43 minutes after the stage winner (I think*).
Edit 2 - nm everyone in some 7 odd minutes inside that elimination time.

That's right, I calculated the same.
According to Procyclingstats Cav and Kittel rolled in 35:24 after Costa, so easily within time limits.

Yup, though the grupetto may argue with our definition of easy |

To annoy all the Costa & Movistar fans: after being in the attack this long today, 3 days after being in another one, and still have this speed up the final climb? He's even more doped than Froome! At least Froome showed being a kind of human the last 2 days....
And if not for the given time gaps in all the hilly-mountain-TT stages, than Kittel would still be in yellow.....

Okay, what fans then? To many people annoy Sky-fans or Schleck fans.... Maybe RodrÃguez-fans?

If I had any illusion about Movistar, I'd be worried by Costa's speed up the last climb, indeed.
Now, saying X is cleaner than Y, I'm not too sure what it means... I don't think any of Costa and Froome is only taking a few corticoids every now and then. Must be much heavier than that, so it makes little difference, IMO. |

I would quote my post about Belkin from yesterday in response, but I don't believe in wasting my time. |
