@Ian & Sutty: Well top 10 with Tejay was the target, and we got it! Just a shame we missed out on white. Gesink came from nowhere to take it. His aggressive riding in the Alps paid off

24th July 2011 - Le Tour de France
(Créteil - Paris Champs-Élysées)
The final stage has arrived. After 20 days and 3,335km of riding, the peleton heads to Paris.
The opening parts of the stage is normally a slow procession, as the winners sip champagne and take in what has happened over the last 3 weeks. But as soon as we hit Paris, the racing will recommence, and end with the big finish on the Champs-Élysées.
Today is going to be defined by two words: Green and Victory! I have a 32 point lead going into this final stage, so it would take a huge disaster for me not to win the Maillot Vert now.
We will be without Renshaw for this final stage. It is a huge shame that he missed the time limit on Alpe d'Huez, but Bernie is really motivated to work at lead out man, so let's hope I can finish the Tour with a win in Paris.
32km: After 30km of slow riding, the action got under way with a number of hard attacks.
43km: A few teams set themselves up at the front of the pack, and the chase back was started.
58km: The break was brought back with 4km to the Intermediate Sprint, so the maximum 20 points was on offer. I just took the sprint, in one of tightest sprints so far. Was this a preview to how the race with end?
60km: Nicki Sørensen (SaxoBank) was the next to attack, and he built a hefty lead over the peleton.
76km: Puncture for Schleck! The Maillot Jaune suffers a mechanical, and has to get a new wheel. He is safely brought back to the peleton by his Leopard team, but he is luck that this happened today and not in the Alps...
89km: Approaching the final KoM sprint of this year's Tour, Sylvain Chavanel attacks, looking to bridge the 3'46" gap to Sørensen.
105km: Crossing the Seine, the lead riders have the Champs-Élysées in sight, and their lead peaks at 5'32".
108km: There are no words to describe this moment. The peleton hits the Champs-Élysées at full gas, but it was amazing to feel those cobbles under my wheel.
110km: An amazing shot by the French Television broadcasters. The Maillot Vert going around the hairpin at the top, with the Arc de Triomphe in the background.
131km: With 30km to go, the break's adavantage was down to just 53", and Geraint Thomas (Sky) attacked off the front to join them.
145km: The three riders never extended their lead, and with 15km to go, everything was brought back together. Time for the sprinter's to take charge now...
152km: With the lead outs trains in full motion, no team could tke complete control. With Renshaw missing, we had to rearrange the lead out sightly, and it was decided that Bernie would be the man to drop me off in the best place.
160km: As the sprint began, I was in the perfect position. Bernie was fantastic, using all his experience and knowledge to know exactly what to do.
161km: Victory in Green!! For the third year running, I win on the Champs-Élysées! It was a magnificent moment for me and the team, and I become the first British rider to win the Maillot Vert in the Tour de France.

Was a fun fight for yellow as well, strange seeing such a two-horse race in the TdF GC!

@Baggie: It was a good fight for yellow, but Schleck never put a foot wrong. There was no breaking him, and Leopard did a Team Sky and took full control of the peleton in the Mountains.
@Atlantius: Well, I had disappointed the followers not winning enough, so there was no way they would disappointed again with the finish in Paris

HTC add more riders to 2012 roster
During the post-Tour party at the Ritz Hotel in Paris, HTC - Highroad's Directeur Sportif Phil Hoyle thought it would be the opportune moment to announce two further signing in the team, in the form of Garmin - Cervélo's Daniel Martin and FDJ's Thibaut Pinot.
Irish rider Martin has signed a 2 year contract, and will comes to the team as Protected Team-mate. He will be in a similar role to fellow new recruit Janez Brajkovic, aiding the team's leaders in the Grand Tours, and being given a leadership role in the smaller stage races.
Frenchmen Pinot showed the world what he is capable of during the Tour de France, where he worn the KoM Polka Dot Jersey for many days in the early parts of the race. He has signed a 3 year contract, and will look to continue his development with HTC. He will given a free role in the team, and should the opportunities arise, look for stage wins and high GC positions in stage races.
Hoyle went on to confirm that there will be no further signings, in terms of current Professional riders, but they are in discussion with a few Under 23 riders, who could be joining the team as Strategires at the begninning of August, with the option of turning professional next season.

19th August 2011 - Dutch Food Valley Classic
The preparation for next month's World Championships, in Denmark, begins in the Netherlands, as I head to the Dutch Food Valley Classic.
The race is a flat route, based around the Veluwe National Park, starting and ending in Veenendaal.
I will lead the team in the sprints, aided by Mark Renshaw, Matt Brammeier and Tony Martin in the lead-out. Patrick Gretsch and Frantisek Rabon will provide the support during the stage, and will look to help control things should it be needed.
Isaac Côté is given his first chance to shine in a HTC jersey, and will be given a free role during the race, looking to get into the day's break.
The line up is completed by John Degenkolb, who is fine tuning his programme ahead of the Vuelta a España. He will be Plan B in the sprints should I have any problems, but may also lend a hand in the lead out if needed.
