A very sound selection. I hope they'll impress. |

The funny part is that Horner was admired for not buying into Lance's lies, publicly doubting that Lance could be clean, calling him out publicly once in a while, and saying the reason he never made it big in europe is because he didn't dope......until 2008.
That's when he joined Lance's team, started praising Lance at every turn, and his performances skyrocketed even though he's nearly 40 years old.
So you think he doped?

I think Horner claimed that he imprved because he started drinking plenty of Beetroot juice, which is less likely than doping, but it's not inconceivable that he could be clean.

The one thing I hold onto is the widely held contention that Evans is clean - he has always performed at a consistent level afaik, it's just that that level was good enough to win the Tour last year.
Well, let's say Evans level is at the very limit of what's still credible, and that he has indeed been performing at a quite constant level for years.
Now, about Evans, he's coming from MTB (not exactly the clean side of cycling...), he's been in teams with bad habits, and he was reported to be one of the Men In Black working with Ferrari in 2007, though I don't know if that is true.
Don't get your hopes too high, you never know. |

Indeed, I said hold on to because anything is possible and it may yet slip through my fingers. At present Men in Black remains a mindless, diversionary, Will Smith film to me and long may it be so |

Tom Boonen said that Evans was the proof that winning the Tour clean was possible (he said this way before Evans actually won the Tour though). Maybe he on coke then though.
Certainly is there's one top GC rider I've always wanted to believe in, that's Cadel Evans.

De Gendt wants to race TT in London. In exchange for that he wouldn't mind riding 200km for Boonen/Gilbert, on the road.

I think he should go!

Cavendish going on record about losing a few percent in the sprints to target Olympic success. Warning it includes the usual cocky, brashness/honesty (depending on your take) you would expect:
https://www.itv.com/tourdefrance/news/...nce-27743/
Perhaps less dominant in the flater sprints of the Tour for a number of reasons including this but maybe there when you wouldn't expect him to be - Sagan and Cav maybe contesting a few of the tougher run ins?

If you lose against Ferrari and Guardini, you'll lose against Kittel, Greipel and Sagan for sure, especially without a proper leadout. No way he can get the green jersey. I'm expecting him to go home once he realises that so that Boasson Hagen can go for his own chance.

One or two losses, and some people are so quick to ignore all of his wins.

All sprinters lose sprints but he has historically had a higher success rate than most in GT's. He did still win 3 stages at the Giro despite the above as an example, decent competition or no
With regard to green he states the overiding GC objective for the team and with the Olympics so close and clearly the priority for him green is probably down the list a bit.
Of course he may get over Box Hill x 9 comfortably only to lack the top end to out sprint Sagan or whoever |

When someone wins a lot, people try to find weaknesses and as soon as they see them they point them out and try to prove that he's not as good as the other say. So for any big rider any mistake will look twice or thrice bigger than a victory, especially for people that don't like him.
The only rider that can beat him in a proper flat sprint is Greipel.

English I guess?
Was there any sprint in the Giro he won that wasn't like "he won but someone was faster but mistimed"?
C'mon, the guy is only thinking of three things: 1) His girlfriend 2) forcing his poor baby to travel around the world and 3) Olympics. The Tour is like last on his wish list this year, and most notably, there wasn't a Kittel with a full sprint train last year.
Edit: Lol, two responses before I answered. Enough with he speculations, guess future will tell who's right

Dutch I guess? At least ruben freely admits he's biased. |

Of course I am, it's obvious that Van Hummel will beat Cavendish!

People are always quick to judge.
I think Cav did well in Giro, he should be good in TDF, too.
Though I see Sagan, Greipel and others getting the green jersey as well. |

Exactly. Particularly as Cav's personality/attitude makes it easy for many to dislike him.

No Vien, I am not English but how amusing that your first response is to call me biased, when your posts clearly suggest your dislike of Cavendish!
Plus, you seem to have the wrong idea of what constitutes the best sprinter. You can be as fast a sprinter as you like, but if you don't win, you are not the best sprinter.
The only Sprinter at the moment who consistently wins again and again at the highest level is Cavendish - that's why he is the best sprinter in the peloton. 9 GT stage wins in 2009, 8 GT stage wins in 2010, 7 GT stage wins in 2011 and already 3 GT stages wins this year can't be ignored!

Re: the Giro you know you're a success when people are doubting you after you win 3 GT stages in a month...
That said anything can happen, looking forward to it. |
