I think equally, is a good result for one, supposedly, tired Menchov
Brilliant Kump fighting for the podium, a pity that could not have obtained it
PD-> Greipel has to be a little tired of Cavendish, always ahead his! hehehe.

Most Colombians are small climbers so they should like the parcours for the NC. Duare is the top favourite after the timetrial but look out for Quintana. He has a lot of teammates.
Duque (Cofidis) is more of a sprinter's type then a climber so he attacks early. He can create a big gap of over 8'.
Ardila went to the front of the peloton (18 riders) and decreased the gap to 5' before the start of the final climb. Still a lot of time so Duarte attacks immediately. Quintana reacts.
Quintana couldn't follow and is now together with Rubiano. They chase but they lose more and more time. Duarte is starting to close in on Duque.
And he catches him under the 5 km banner. Duque is totally exhausted and is dropped immediately. Great attack from him.
Duarte keeps riding a good pace and finishes 3' before Rubiano. Great race from the Colombian. Rubiano 2nd and Duque sees his attack rewarded with 3rd. Ardila 7th after working hard.

Milano-Torino was a very prestigious race when it was held right before the Tirreno. It moved to the late season and is still an important race. The route isn't hard except for the hill 10 km from the line. Menchov continues his Lombardia preparations and hopes to do better then in Emilia.
Taborre (Acque e Sapone) is the only rider remaining at the front when climbing the final hill. The pack is only 1' behind.
Cunego made a strong attack from the pack and jumps past Taborre. Everyone else is still together in the bunch.
Three riders join Cunego in the descent. His teammate Niemic and Pozzovivo. Menchov is in the next group together with Marzoli.
Cunego easily sprinted away from his two companions to take yet another victory. Pozzovivo takes 2nd and Niemic 3rd.
Menchov wins the sprint against Marzoli for 4th in front of the closing Frapporti and Basso.

Geox squad
The Giro del Piemonte is the last classic before the Giro di Lombardia. The route is rather flat so we hope Kump can get one more good result.
Cunego joins the remaining escapees with 10 km to go. The peloton is 30" behind. We are chasing together with Katusha.
Menchov took the front of the pack and brought everything back together with little less then 5 km to go. Kump has a good position in the wheel of Pozzato.
Furlan made a long sprint and it looked for a while like he was going to win but he faded near the end and Canuti and his teammate Jorgensen closed in on him. Canuti took the win in front of the two Christina Watches. Great win for Canuti after helping Frapporti to some wins. Kump finishes 8th.

Geox squad
The Giro di Lombardia is a great way to end the season. It's one of the 5 big monuments and we hope to get a good result here. Menchov will fight for the top 10 on the slopes of the Madonna del Ghisallo and San Ferme della' Battaglia.
9 riders in the break of the day. Busche (Radioshack), Weening, Slagter (Rabobank), Dessel, Nocentini (AG2R), Albasini (HTC), Vicioso (Androni), Perez (Movistar) and Giordani (Farnese).
Only 5 riders remain at the front on the slopes of the Colma di Sormano. Albasini, Weening, Vicioso, Nocentini and Busche have dropped their companions. The pack has been reduced to a 35 men group on the Madonna del Ghisallo. Menchov is the only Geox rider in it.
The favourites made a good pace on the Sormano and at the top only 20 riders remain at the front. Menchov in it aswell as 4 Lampre riders. The break is still in front but will get caught in the descent.
The San ferme della Battaglia. Can a climb have a nicer name? The climb isn't nice to Menchov though as he can't keep up near the front of the group were surprisingly nobody attacks.
No attacks means that a 12 men group with all the favourites will sprint for the win. Kreuziger has bad luck as he is in the lead. Rodriguez, Cunego, Basso and Gilbert are waiting in his wheel.
One rider made an acceleration nobody could match. He sprinted away from the others to take another victory. Damiano Cunego! Gilbert and Rodriguez sprint to 2nd and 3rd.
Menchov was in the first chasing group together with Capecchi and Sanchez. He beated the Basque in the sprint for 14th.

Thanks for the Banana!
Individual
Philippe Gilbert wins the World Tour after racing great the whole year. Paris-Nice, Milano-Sanremo, The Ardennes Classics, The Tour de France, San Sebastian, Canadian Classics, Lombardia. Phil was seen everywhere.
Teams
Team Garmin-Cervelo are the best team in the World Tour. Not surprising with 3 riders in the top 10 in the individual standings: Hesjedal (13th), Hushovd (14th) and Farrar (19th).
Individual
Garzelli was at the front on almost all races on his Italian soil. Highlighted by wins in Trentino and Lombarda, he takes the Trophy for best rider in the Continental Tour.
Teams
Landbouwkrediet has some very strong riders for Continental races like Traksel, Kruopis and De Waele. They comfortably win this competition.
Individual
Igor Anton is the best rider according to the Cycling Quotient. The Basque came in 4th in the Giro before winning the Vuelta. Great season for him.
Teams
Team Garmin-Cervelo also wins the CQ-ranking. It was just a great year for them as a team.
Individual
Both Marcel Kittel and Phillipe Gilbert had 17 wins this season. The wins from Gilbert are from a better level though as Kittel won for example 7 stages in Langkawi.
Teams
Team Garmin-Cervolo's sprinter Farrar dominated the Giro and Tour so his team also takes the most victories.

Thanks all. It was indeed strange not to see Tony Martin not starting. He isn't injured and starts the road race. But I think he wouldn't have won as Cancellara was very strong. GC was a small typo
World Championships
The main event of the World Championships is the professional road race. The Course is long but almost completely flat. There are 4 small hills on the lap but none of them is longer as 500 metres so they shouldn't be any problem for the sprinters.

The startlist is very strong. Big favourite is ofcourse Mark Cavendish but Farrar and Greipel also have strong teams. Classical types like Boonen, 2010 WC Hushovd, Cancellara and Pozzato can never be ruled out. Fabio Duarte (Colombia) and Kump (Slovenia) are the only Geox riders starting. A bit akward for the team..
9 Riders in the break of the day. Kascheckin (Kazachstan), M. Velits (Slovakia), Kirchen (Luxembourg), Bole (Slovenia), Chainel (France), Steegmans (Belgium), Clarke (Australia), Ventoso (Spain) and Garzelli (Italy). Some strong names but how is their form?
Commotion in the peloton. Fabian Cancellara crashed on a descent of one of the small hills. Luckily, he can continue and his Suisse teammates bring him back to the bunch.
Two country's are controlling the peloton for almost the whole day. Great-Brittain and Germany never let the gap grow over 7'.
50 kms to go and three riders have made the jump from the pack to the break. O'Grady (Australia), Eisel (Austria) and Visconti (Italy) join the escapees right after Steegmans attacked from this group.
The pack finds this move to dangerous so they chase the break back. This means only Steegmans remains in front but he would get caught a big later though.
So everything is back together when 3 riders attack with 20 km to go. Cancellara, Devolder and Chavanel are good classic riders and can not be given a big advantage.
They worked together and remain in front under the 5 km banner. Pozzato is a bit behind as he tried to jump across on the hills. He never closed the gap though. The pack is also not far behind.
The three can start the sprint with a small advantage. Chavanel is leading with Cancellara and Devolder in his wheel. The sprinters aren't far off though so if one of them has a good kick he can comeback.
The leaders could never sprint at a high speed so they were caught under the 1 km banner. Boason Hagen moved to the front on the wide, slightly raising road but Haussler, Cavendish and a surprising Maaskant aren't far off.
But Boasson Hagen is very strong and nobody can even come close. A great win for the young Norwegian. It will be nice to see him in the rainbow-jersey next year. Haussler could just keep of Cavendish to take 2nd.
It was great to see how Thor Husvond, who defended his title here, worked for Boasson Hagen. Great for a small cycling country like Norway to have to world champions in a row.

The Colombian champions are getting crowned. Duarte and Ardila aren't the greatest timetrialers but the climb on the course should make it intresting for them. Beating Uran will be tough though.
Pre-race favourite Uran rode rather disappointing. He finished only 5th.
1h1'45"
Rubiano won the Giro de Toscana lately so his form is probably not bad. His timetrial isn't shabby either. He finished 4th.
1h1'43"
Nairo Quintana is last years winner of the Tour de l'Avenir. The Colombian has a bright future ahead and rode a good TT for 3rd.
1h1'29"
Mauricia Ardila isn't a strong timetrialer but he had a strong day and set a very good time, eventually finishing 2nd.
1h0'01"
The winner today was Fabio Duarte. He rode very strong and caught Soler with still more than 10 km to go. He will be wearing the national jersey in next year's TT's.
59'18"

UCI announces World Tour teams for 2012!
"These 18 teams will be part of the World Tour next year:"
"Geox-TMC is the only new team, they showed they belonged here after great rides in both the Giro and the Vuelta. Leopard and Radioshack mergered into one team. GreenEdge took over HTC's spot so the number of teams stays at 18."

With all transfers done and the UCI having announced the 18 World Tour teams, it's time to present them.
AG2R La Mondiale
AG2R had a tough season last year but could stay in the World Tour. The only remaining French team in the highest class of cyling. They didn't make much changes to upgrade their team and their leaders stay the same. Roche can fight for in one week races and some hilly classics and Gadret could snatch a top 10 in one of the GT's. Their supporting cast isn't strong though with Nocentini, Elmiger and Dupont as the only other notable riders. Overal one of the weaker teams.
BMC Racing Team
BMC won the Tour de France last year. Cadel Evans is back for another try. It looks like he will be alone quite much though in the finals. Frank, his best teammate in the Tour, left and was not replaced. He must hope on the experience from Hincapie. Capitain George will lead a rather strong classics team together with Ballan, Quinziato and Franzoi. BMC is strong at the top but not very deep.
Euskaltel - Euskadi
The Basque team generally isn't very active on the transfer market but they strengthened their team this time. Zubeldia, Astarloza and Lopez return to were it all started. The first two once finished in the top 10 of the Tour but are getting old. Can they bring one more strong year for their leaders Anton and Sanchez?
GreenEdge Cycling
One year after the Pegasus fail, Australia finally has it's own World Tour team. Greenedge brought together a strong, mainly Australian team based on the footprints of HTC. They are led by World Champion Boasson Hagen, Gerrans and Goss. Top timetrialers and sprinters should certainly help them to compete immediately.
Katusha Team
Katusha kept together their team which was able to compete almost everywhere last year. Rodriguez is probably Gilbert's only contender on the shorter hills but will he go for the GT's like last year? Pozzato leads a very experienced cobbled team. Can Galimzyanov become a top sprinter?
