Jose Maria Jimenez Sastre. He was maried to Sastre's sister.
One of the greatest climbers of the late 90's. He once made up a minute to Tonkov over the last 1.5 km of the Angliru to win the stage.
He got addicted to drugs later died from a cardiac arrest.

Not surprising.
We have to wait and see it in action, but better than RST or Cannondale for sure.

I think Miguel's confusion probably comes from a misspelling
Chaba, not Chava.
Chava is indeed Chavanel

I thought so. It's why I wrote Chava

Well, I learned something new then
Apparently fans started calling him Chaba but he insisted on asking people to spell it Chava so the uninformed wouldn't think it means he's of phillipino decent

Funny, especially as we just learned that it does not matter how you write it, it is pronounced the same way. |

In other new (and unfortunately, I guess slightly dope related) the biggest dope in world Cycling, Mr Pat McQuaid has launched his bid for presidency in earnest.
That's not to say his said what he will do, admitted any mistakes or anything in anyway useful. No, his doing the old "I'll just call my opponents idea's stupid" in response to Cookson's manifesto.
He probably makes some good points too, but I just cant help but laugh at the whole thing. Some of his points are hillariously bad. Like, he complains Cookson is inconsistant regarding TaRC. This is because last week he stated he "wasn't sure" about it but in the manifesto it states that he welcomes the possibility of a TaRC although there are some legal issues that would need to be overcome.
I dont see a massive conflict. Its basically saying ideally, we would have a TaRC but it might not be possible to do. If that is the case, there are other ways we can go about dealing with a problems. Which is... rather sensible? Instead of, well a TaRC is too much work, so lets just forget about it.
His attacks regarding funding and IOC influence are probably fairly valid though.
Its seems to be that there has been a decision in the Cookson camp to (admirably in my opinion) to not get involved in Mud Slinging. Even when asked about the "McQuaid dossier" he just stated that it raises serious issue that need investigating, but didn't use it to attack Pat. An attempt to win by saying I am the right man for the job, rather then that the other guy is the wrong one.
Also, a report critizing the Cookson approach as "zero communication strategy" came out today too. Essentially saying he doesn't really answer any questions properly. I think its a partial fair comment, as he hasn't given many definative answers but at the same time, I think its also slightly unfair for a couple of reasons.
1. Many of the questions he does not answer basically require him to be vague, or outright slag off Pat. As I've observed above, there is a clear plan to not do that, to not get involved in negativity. The media want a two way slanging match and a fair bit of dodging is due to avoiding that. Also, much as he wants to reform the system, he needs it to elect him first and if you offend most of the voters prior to the vote, you wont be able to change anything because you wont get elected.
2. People in Politics are far to keen to make statements that sound great but are bullshit. I think a fair bit of the vaguity is honesty. Until his actually in power and working the levers, he won't know exactly what he can actually do. You can make rough ideas, have plans you'd like to implement but being UCI President doesn't give him ultimate power over all cycling. Its still a democractic position and he is just one man.
Things are definately starting to heat up though.
((And even though I'm a fan of the best man winning because they are best man, I ultimately want Cookson because his not the worst man. |

Looks a bit like the French national team kit. Not as dark though.
On a different note, I guess most of you have noticed or know about the blue wristband, the bikepure one. Joining bikepure forces riders to pledge for a clean cycling, etc. and besides getting to wear the wristband, riders get their bio published on bikepure's website.
So far so good...
Apparently, the soon to be TDF winner has had his biography removed the last few days, and is not part of bikepure anymore.
He's also taken a stance against publishing training's data.
You really have much to hide, Mr. Froome, haven't you ?

It's hardly blood values...
Wanting to hide your training values isn't all that suspicious. |

I have to agree here.
I don't like the FDJ kit, it is another step away from their great classic kit.
