Well done on winning the Giro! Nibali held well his short lead from Duarte to take the win, and got through the difficulties felt during the mountain stages. And it's a pity Duarte finished 3rd, tsmoha won't be the first DS to take him to a podium position. |

Great overall win. I got a little nervous in the last stages when Scarponi and Duarte closed in on Nibali, but a solid three-week performance scored you a well deserved victory.

Hey guys,
sorry that I didn't write for quite some time. The last two months were fantastic! In April, I had a great time enjoying my free time. I spent some weeks with my family, afterwards I took a vacation in Turkey. Terrific weather, terrific beaches... And I watched my team mates ride in the Tour of Turkey. All in all, it was a great experience.
Since the beginning of May, I started to train again and I already feel the strength coming back into my legs and I hope for a good return to Slovenia and maybe a surprise in the National Championships.
Also, I'm one of the multiple riders in the peloton who caught the FIFA fever. At the moment, that has a higher priority for me than this blog, so updates might not come too frequently in the next weeks. I hope you understand that.
Anyway, I just wanted to stay in touch with you folks. Greetings,
|

Haha the FIFA fever is spreading! Does Dominik have a Serie A or Bundesliga team? |

andy222c: Nice to hear. I'm sure I'll re-find the motivation sometime soon.
@ Teddy: Actually, he plays mostly online But he prefers German teams (Hoffenheim atm), as well as his Ultimate Team consists of Germans only.

25. - 29.5. Bayern-Rundfahrt
1 | Tony Martin | Team T-Mobile | 2 | Andreas Klöden | Team T-Mobile | 3 | Gerald Ciolek | Team T-Mobile | 4 | Roman Kreuziger | Liquigas - Cannondale | 5 | Tejay Van Garderen | Team T-Mobile |
T-Mobile completely dominated the race on their home soil. Martin and Klöden bested Kreuziger in the time trial while Ciolek benefited from the bonus seconds obtained for two stage wins and a third place. Nevertheless a good start for Roman's Tour preparation.
Nibali's success at the Giro outshines everything. Jakob Fuglsang won a the Amgen Tour of California in a surprisingly weak starting field.
Unaffected by the Giro, Cunego and Gilbert keep their lead in the World Tour Ranking. Giro winner Nibali advances to third place. Scarponi, Duarte and Rogers benefit from their Giro performances as well.
Liquigas could expand their lead in the ranking. Katusha overtook Omega Pharma and Leopard Trek thanks to Basso and Garzelli in the Top 10 of the Giro.
BMC and GreenEdge are still terribly placed while Kanstantin Siustsou's 10th spot at the Giro brought T-Mobile a bit of easement. FDJ and Garmin still appear safe.
Nibali and Duarte made big leaps here. Except for them and Scarponi, the ranking is still shaped by the spring classics.
Lampre and Movistar advanced after the Giro while the classics teams of Omega Pharma and Quick·Step fell out of the Top 5. Liquigas even increased their imense lead.
Ag2r and Geox are the big winners of the month while Landbouwkrediet fell off the Top 5. Saur and Cofidis are still quite well in the lead but things can still change a lot.
No changes in the Individual ranking. Movistar overtook Skil for place four in the teams ranking.
As the Tour de Romandie ended in May, Fabio Duarte was still awarded for his win there. Nevertheless, his stage win there, and his four stage wins at the Giro are extremely impressive and he really deserves the award.
Daan Olivier won the second stage of the Bayern-Rundfahrt from a break.
The win at the Dauphiné will be very hard to achieve but Roman Kreuziger will give his best in the last preparation race for the Tour. His luxury domestique, Janez Brajkovic targets the Tour de Suisse while Dominik leads the team in Slovenie.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I'm also really looking forward to the next month, especially Slovenie and the NCs, but you'll have to be a bit patient: One news post and the Dauphinee are still to come, then Slovenia:

+++ Tour de France Wild Cards announced +++
ASO recently announced the four continental teams that may participate in the world's biggest cycling event. They are:
AG2R La Mondiale | Cofidis, le crédit en ligne | Team Europcar | Saur – Sojasun |
The nationality oviously stroke: Neither Geox nor Vacansoleil, the alleged top teams, received a wild card here.
Last year, the French teams were a disappointment. Europcar and the other wild card teams will try to change that this year.
+++ Contract negociations in full play +++
Several top riders extended their contracts with their respective teams:
Filippo Pozzato | Katusha | Until 2014 | Joaquim Rodriguez | Katusha | Until 2014 | Juan Antonio Flecha | Sky ProCycling | Until 2013 | Emanuele Sella | Androni | Until 2013 | Jean-Christophe Peraud | AG2R La Mondiale | Until 2013 | John Gadret | Saur – Sojasun | Until 2014 |
On the other hand, there are quite some riders who seem to be interested in a team change:
Andre Greipel | Omega Pharma | | Michele Scarponi | Lampre – ISD | | Ivan Basso | Katusha | | Sylvain Chavanel | Quick·Step | | Igor Anton | Euskaltel | | Mikel Astarloza | Euskaltel | | Benat Intxausti | Movistar | |
Nothing is fix though, they still might re-sign with their teams.
The Katusha duo Rodriguez and Pozzato (on the right) extended their contracts with the Russian team.

Thank you.
As I'm approaching the transfer window, I have a question for you, dear readers:
In short, it's: How good do you want the team to become?
A bit longer: As you know, in contrary to last season I'm able to keep all my key personnel. Plus, I'll sign a couple of very strong domestiques to improve the team in terms of depth. The question now is whether or not to sign another top star. I have two riders on my list (a stage racer, a sprinter) who would be available and of whom I might sign one. They both are among the Top 5 of their respective metier, worldwide. The point is though, that I'm pretty well-staffed in both of those metiers, so I'm not really needing them. In fact, I have already the best squad without doing any transfers at all. And keep in mind that lots of my riders will reach their optimum in the coming years, thus reaching the world class (Nerz, Cimolai etc.).
So my dilemma is whether to keep it "realistic" or to build a "uber-squad", if you will, that could be able to dominate everything on the long run.
Feedback would be appreciated
