I was outside the top 25 all the way until the last two stages. The final overall position points jumped me up to 16th. Yates, Lopez, Kruijswijk and Kelderman did me OK. Only sour note was Martin with a big fat 0
An extra 500 from an average GC rider would have seen me into the top 10!!!

Decent results in ToB and Spain sees me on the leaderboard for the first time in ages. Autumn classics not going well though.
Exciting finish to the season

Thanks for the congratulatory messages, guys!
I reached my goal of winning one competition this year. Usually I do great at one-week stage races and not so good at GTs, so it's nice to have bagged a big one. Next year I'll try my best to participate in more games, so I actually have a chance in the overall.

Congrats to Vuelta win Squire !!!
This was for me a miserable year. Managed to claw into the top25 overall at least for the moment, but that might change after the Autumn Classic.
NO race won this year after 1 in 2016 and 2 in 2017.
I missed entering the Autumn Classic so it's the end for me. I guess no more races for this season
Better do some high-altitude training for next season, which I do hope will be on.

Ember currently leads Ian by 60 points in the Autumn Classics. He is two places ahead of him at the moment which currently has him in the lead by 5 points.
All to play for still

A huge few days coming up. 6 races will take place between the 6th & 13th of October which will decide the overall win as well as the final podium place. Don't forget to get your transfers in.
Less than two weeks to go before the 2018 champion is crowned!!!

Ember has taken a large step towards the title over the weekend. He currently sits in 9th at the Autumn Classics, with Ian in 13th. Ian has a 185 point deficit to make up in the last 4 races.
That's more than doable, but it will most likely go down to the Tour of Lombardy next weekend.

3 races left, Ian has reduced his deficit to 150 points, both Ember and Ian have just 2 transfers remaining.
I think the pendulum is in Embers favour at the moment given his points lead in both the overall table and the Autumn Classics game, however there could be big points on offer at the Milano0Torino and Tour of Lombardy. 150 points can be overturned very quickly. However both Ian and Ember have Alaphilippe and Valverde so Ian will be hiping Pinot and Rui Costa can make the difference today. (unless they make any further transfers of course )

Ouch, I've been a away since Sunday with limited Internet access, and I also forgot to do changes for my Velogames team. That will probably make this very exciting, as I thought I was in a solid position after Sunday's Beghelli race.
Pinot was the obvious rider I would have brought in after yesterday's result, which makes it slightly annoying to be just a few minutes late
At least it gives to changes for Lombardia, probably for both of us. Will be interesting to see the standings before Saturday's final race, and whom of us that will feel the need to gamble with the final transfers, due to chasing the other.
Also cool to see purepasd in a very nice position overall in the autumn classics game. Surely he has a shot at winning the overall with no less than six transfers left. Also looking at his team for today and how it's set up regarding Saturday, it definitely gives him a chance at the win, eventhough the leading team also looks very nice for overall glory. |

No chance to overtake purepasd right now for me. He jumped clear off me after World Championships where he picked all 3 guys from France whereas I had only Alaphilippe + I thought that Teuns could be maybe better than Woods. Since that race I was playing only for second. Very dominating Autumn Classics series from him. I finished 9th in Spring Classics so hopefully I can finished 2nd in Autumn.
Ember vs Ian...probably there will be new Velogames Champion. Lets see, I suppose it will be by a close margin
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

Regarding purepasd’s shot at the overall win, has any PCMDaily member won it in the past? I know LaChouffe was almost crowned winner in Britain. Would be a very nice achievement. |

Yeah, it's happened before. Can't remember who/when but I'm sure someone will be able to enlighten us.

@ringo what would you say on this: that from next year top 3 names would be recorded in every race in our "results book" on first page? Reasoning for this: well, it is full podium and even history remembers only winners, this could add some additional motivation

Yeah, can do. Might mean I get on their a bit more often I've got my solitary game win at the 2018 Giro Rosa to look back on.
I was going to, at the end of this season, do a list of the top individual game winners. So for example:
4 Game wins - Player A
3 Game wins - PLayer B, PLayer C
2 Game wins - Player D, PLayer E, Player F
1 Game win - 12 Players
etc and try to keep it updated throughout the season. I can go back and do it for the last 3 seasons.
Let me know if anyone else has any other suggestions and I can consider them and let you know if they will be workable given that the current basis was implemented to require as little input from myself as possible

@ringo182 yeah that would be also very nice to see. Good suggestion as well. Of course, in my opinion it would be enough if this new format would be implemented from the next season.
On the other hand, if it will not be too arduous for you it will be definitely appreciated if you can do it for this season and maybe for some previous seasons as well. But I do not want from you to bother with it too much so I guess it will be up to you.
But yeah lets see what other guys think about these proposed changes as well

Couldn't make it up! After nearly 20 competitions this season there is literally 1 point in it and we are sitting 10th and 11th in the last mini league of the year
No-one stands a chance against Purepasd in the Autumn Classics though, he is owning us all!
GL for the last couple of races all, apart from our PCM clash I am hoping to cling on to a top 10 in the Velogames season championship standings but it's been another fun year regardless

My final transfers have been made.
Ian has it all to do in the last race. Ember has opened the gap back up to 160 points. The odds are firmly stacked in favour of a new PCMDaily Velogames Champion in 2018.
The final league table will be updated on Monday when I am back in my office
Good Luck everyone.

Looks like Costa (no post WC form), Mas (no post Vuelta form) and Kelderman (form but not race winning) versus Pozzovivo (likely to place) and a 160 point deficit. Was hoping Ember would go Nibali and not Uran so we had more differences...I'm not confident!
Would've liked to bring in a cheap left fielder like Cattaneo too but finding out a day too late about Alaphillipe's premature season end blew a transfer

Good luck to both! It’s more about the legs today regardless of the form of the past races. And maybe Costa can end with a surprising banger like he usually does. |
