Vuelta a Andalucia


21st February 2015

Hey everyone

So the Vuelta a Andalucia is over. It finished yesterday. It was a good start to my season. I came in 10th overall which I'm really happy with! Contador managed to win the last stage and take the overall win! He took it by 2.27 to Richie Porte. Rui Costa was in 3rd 2.34 behind.

So far we are super happy about the signing of Alberto Contador. I believe the team resigned him again for next season which is really cool. I'm getting along really well with Contador and it is also one less competitor I need to worry about at the Tour de France this year.

Tirreno – Adriatico


14th March 2015

What's happening everyone??

So 2 days ago Tirreno – Adriatico finished. It was a great race for the team. I couldn't quite get the GC win losing it on the final hill stage before the TT. I don't know what happened. But I got a great 2nd overall to Sir Bradley Wiggins. He is a great rider and I'm glad it was him I lost too instead of Chris Froome. I won 2 great stages as well as the mountain and youth classification's so I can't complain. I am really happy with my first World Tour event of the year.

One more thing. In Paris Nice Alberto Contador did an amazing job there. He won the GC, Points and KOM. As well as 3 stages. He had a great race in Paris Nice! The team did a great job in supporting their new team mate and getting him the win.

Milano San Remo

Hey Guys!

The day has arrived. Milano San Remo is here. It will be different this year. Alejandro Valverde has retired and is no longer with us here at Petronas. He won last year with a strong attack near the end. Rojas Gil is here and he came 2nd and with a strong leadout I think he can maybe do one better.

Same profile as it has been for a while. This year I will at on the final climb hoping to repeat last years victory from Valverde. The goal here is a top 3. Here is the full team.

Nathan Haas attacks with 289km to go.

100km to go. The hilly part of the race is about to begin. The breakaway has only 4.50 on the peloton.

Haas tried to make the race a bit more interesting for the crowd by attacking with 40km to go.

Peter Sagan tried to get away with 33km to go.

Sagan caught the breakaway when they hit the 2nd last climb. Only 27km to go.

With 2km to go I was actually leading but I had no energy. Rojas Gil is on the wheel of Cavendish. Let's hope he has the speed today.

Well we achieved our sponsor goal which is awesome! It was a great sprint from Rojas Gil he just lacked that final kick that he need to get around Cav and Bouhanni. I finished back a bit but I'm happy with my race. I took the pressure off Rojas Gil and he ended up finishing on the podium. Great race from the entire team today! I couldn't be more proud of the boys.

Circuit Cicliste Sarthe


1st April 2015

Hey everyone!

So we are in France for 5 days racing the Circuit Cicliste Sarthe. For me this is just a fitness race. For people like Jonny Cantwell this is a race where he could win a stage or 2. Same with Alex Dowsett in the stage 3 TT. Burghardt is also here for fitness as he is racing Paris Roubaix in about a week. Anyway below is the team that is racing here.

Stage 1

The first stage is a 177.6km flat stage. This is Cantwell's first chance for victory!

The Race


Maestri is the first rider to attack.

The 2 man breakaway reach the sprint point. Cappelle is a stronger sprinter then Maestri. He takes the top points easily.

Maestri wins the 3rd KOM and makes it 3 out of 3 for the stage. He will be leading the KOM jersey tomorrow.

With 10km to go a group of 12 had moved off the front of the peloton. Included in the group were only Fdj riders and Petronas riders. This is going to be a big finish.

With 1km to go the obvious favourite, Nacer Bouhanni had a massive lead! He was going to win today, but who would take 2nd.

Well a good race today. Cantwell did so well considering he was up against Bouhanni and Bos. He beat some really good sprinters today and should be very proud. Maestri is in the mountains jersey which is a big plus for him. Tomorrow is a sprinters day again.

What's up guys!

So today is a short 93.9km flat stage. It will be a really fast race today. Yesterday Cantwell got a great 3rd place. We hope to improve on that today but we aren't expecting anything as there are 2 very good sprinters here in Bouhanni and Bos. It'll be a really interesting day today.

Marino takes the mountain sprint ahead of Ferrari. Maestri takes 3rd and extends his lead.

With 15km to go we had a leadout all planned. Cantwell-Me-Burghardt-Dowsett.

We got boxed in massively and lost a lot of ground. Bonnet was just finishing off the leadout for Bouhanni.

Well it could've been a better stage but on the plus side none of us lost time and we are all still in good positions. There is a TT tomorrow which will be interesting. Dowsett, Pajaron and Gutierrez are all good TT riders. I need to limit my losses.

Paris Roubaix

Hey Guys!

Today was Paris Roubaix. The 'Hell of the North'. Burghardt took a team there to try and take the win. Unfortunately other riders were too strong so he had to settle for 9th. Boonen won ahead of Breschel and Vanmarcke.

This race finished a few days ago and ended with a bang for us. I took the win in stage 4 and that confirmed me the overall win by 51 seconds to Bouhanni. A great result for the team.

Liege – Bastogne – Liege

Hey everyone!!

We are here at the start of the Liege – Bastogne – Liege. After winning the race last year with Alejandro Valverde I want to try and win it again for the 2nd year in a row. I am quite a good hill climber but I'm not the best so I will have to be tactical and save my energy until I need it the most. The team here helping me is below

Today is going to be a very hard race. I raced it 2 years ago and it was one of the hardest races I have ever done. This year I am the leader so I will be under more protection instead of last time where I was protecting Valverde. With many hills it will be interesting to see who is in form and who isn't. For those of you who don't remember the route I will post it below.

200km to go the gap is 9.39 to the breakaway. The peloton is moving at a nice easy pace however.

With 150km to go the breakaway's lead is going down slowly.

None of the breakaway rider's were working so Dennis decided it was time to go alone. Still 90km to go.

With 37km to go Contador launched me. This is the steepest climb of the day.

Well I am still really happy with the race. Like I said at the start I have tactics and I have to do nothing but those tactics. They almost worked too. Its just Henao had a little bit better tactics. He had a great race. I was strong but Henao was stronger. Don't worry guys I'm not going missing this time! 2Nd is great and I can always go back next year and try again. Contador managed to finish in 8th which is great!
