Nope, viewership and sales of cycling merchandise (DVDs, etc) are up considerably since he left

Not really. With a dominant rider gone, the races are more exciting so more people tune in....which is why at the end of this year the figures will very likely have dropped massively again

Tinkoff is acting like classic russian idiot. Who has money.
Well done Riis. there is not sponsor job to talk what he likes...he should support the team. not to act like second manager. Same thing with Katusha...not miracle that Chmil and Olegndid not match.
New russian team..well all dopers around a world this is your chanche again..if you dont have russian passport we can get one for you...
Avin..forget about it that Kreuziger is stronger rider then Contador. Why? Because he has won race? This is like change pcm stats after every race.
I also belive that Hesjedal is stronger rider then Martin..same thing |

Speaking of Hesjedal, does anyone know why on earth he rode San Sebastian if he did truly fracture his ribs? I could see why he'd soldier on through the Tour, but if it was something that was worsening his performance, why would he still be riding?
I want to give him the benefit of the doubt that his awful Tour performance was because of the fractured ribs, but if that wasn't the case, well it would be pretty sad for me.

Nobody doubts Contador is legend compared to Roman, but are there doubts who is better rider for Saxo in 2013? Make your own guess...
Kreuziger:
1st Amstel Gold Race
3rd Overall Tour de Suisse
3rd Clásica de San Sebastián
5th Overall Tour de France
6th GP Miguel Indurain
Contador:
2nd overall classification Tour of Oman
3rd overall classification Tirreno–Adriatico
3rd Klasika Primavera
4th Overall Tour de France
4th overall classification Tour de San Luis
5th overall classification Tour of the Basque Country
10th overall classification Critérium du Dauphiné

@ Avin - There are plenty of scoring systems for riders results out there, so let's have a look at those (2013 scores only):
CQ: Contador - 1159 vs Kreuziger - 1007
Wielerland DB: Contador - 1123 vs Kreuziger - 944
PCS: Contador - 1183 vs Kreuziger - 985
UCI Points: Contador - 252 vs Kreuziger - 258
These are just four systems (and the only four that I'm aware of, though I am sure there are others out there) but the only one where Kreuziger wins is the least comprehensive and generally worst one, the UCI's own ranking... And then only by 6 points. So you can claim that Kreuziger has been a better rider this year all you want but mathematical analysis is certainly not on your side. The maths points to Contador being the better rider this year.

What about a points/wage ratio? And you can give all the importance you want to the points, but in the end in cycling what really matter are victories. A stage in San Luis vs Amstel Gold Race, I wonder what's better. And you have to keep in mind that Kreuziger has been domestiquing for Contador in some races, including the Tour.

1. Points/wage is irrelevant for a discussion of who has been better.
2. The importance of victories is factored in to every single one of those systems. A stage win is worth far less than a WT classic.
3. Domestique duty is the only thing which is not factored in here, but if Contador had been working for Kreuziger then I seriously doubt the results would be much different.

1) I disagree, and I dare say that most likely Riis does as well. But ok, I'll accept that.
2) The problem is that kind of rankings value too much a 4th or 5th place in GC. I guess you don't think Van Avermaet's season has been better than Dan Martin's right? He has more CQ points than him.
3) The results would be much, much different. Contador would have lesser placings in GC, thus less points, and Kreuziger would have better placings, thus more points. Given that the difference between them is rather small, probably Kreuziger would overtake AC.
4) We have to keep in mind that Contador's season is possibly over, while Roman's isn't. So he can still score points.
