Many riders seem to lose a lot of their GC-talent once they joined OPQS (Velits, Leipheimer, Martin, Brambilla etc.), I hope this doesn't happen with Uran. It's like the opposite of Team Sky .
Velits: only one good GC in a GT (Vuelta 2010) and won Tour of Oman.
Leipheimer: too old to ride GC.
Martin: still won some smaller races as Algarve.
Brambilla: worked for Cav in the Giro.
Uran: will do great with the help of Velits, Martin and Kwiatkowski

Uran's problem won't be that he'll join QuickStep, but that he will no longer ride for Sky

"I don't care about a 12th place in GC" - Lefevre before the Tour on why he hadn't selected De Weerdt. Must have said something similar to Brambilla before the Giro (and against Velits before this tour)
Wise words btw. Trentin's tour will be way more succesfull than the tour of whoever finishes 10th in GC imo

Actually he said 21th or 20th place or something, while De Weert had a 12th place before |

Velits was overrated and got lucky in that Vuelta, so can't be blamed OPQS really. Leipheimer was too old and was unlucky with crashes during his season.
Considering Martin is nonsensical, he was never a GT rider, and decided to focus on TT's mainly already at HTC..
Brambilla is one that has been crap, can't defend neither him or the team. However he made a big change coming from PCT to a WT team, change in regime can always affect a rider.
There's no doubt that Uran will get results at OPQS, I'd be very surprised if he didn't. Whether he'll be as successful as he is at Sky remains to be seen.

the problem with uran joining quickstep is they dont have a strong team to help him in the mountains he would be better joining teams like BMC Belkin or radioshack |

Good to see teams taking Asian cyclists seriously. Good for the sport. |

Lieuwe Westra is close to signing a 2-year contract at.....
ASTANA!
Other options seem to include Saxo, and Lotto

Westra to Astana? That would be a major scoop for Astana indeed, terrific signing if they pull it off.
Villella choose wisely, Cannondale is the perfect team for him, by far best Italian developing team, he should be a star soon.

He's not close, he's already confirmed by Vino himself

Correct
And Astana could be a great choice for Westra, as they do ride races like De Panne, Tour of Belgium etc... and don't really have a strong leader for those. At least I consider Westra a better time trialist than Grivko. |

He wants to stay with Belkin though, if they provide him a decent offer. |
