You've got to have rain! You said yourself it's to be expected at Malayasia (and other tracks) so if you don't take that into account setting up and testing your car it's your own fault.
Or let's just play Mario Kart because blue shells even things out
The problem is that it rains 7 times in one race at different points, this means that the track is almost never dry. Also intermediate tires are worse in the rain than dry tires. I would be happy if it rained once for 5 laps and then the track dries out, but right now the rain isn't even close to realistic. |

The problem I have with rain is that in this game you are essentially blind. You dont know approx when it will rain, how hard, how long or anything like that. There is also the problem of dry tires clearly being too good in the wet. With the way this race was, it rained lightly for probably 2 laps at a time every 5 or so laps. At certain points I thought "okay, this is the time the rain actually lasts" or if it was not raining "the rain might stay away for a while now" but nope.
I made the mistake of switching to Inters on Lap 2 in the race, and while they did probably help me for about half a lap, they soon were the considerably slower tire, so I had to come in again and switch to hards. Then 4 laps later it started raining again and I thought okay, I'll switch back to Inters because it would probably be better, but no, it was a waste again.
The only time I feel it was worth coming in to switch to Inters was around Lap 48 when it rained quite hard for about a lap before starting to dry out again.
In other games, there is some sort of weather update that will give info so you can actually race and not react blindly to every single time the weather changes.

Hey guys,
I made some major updates/fixes.
-inters/wets have more grip in the rain
-dry tires have less grip in the rain
-pit limiter set again
-original tires now usable(soft/medium)
-it doesn't rain that often, and weather is more stable in general(not only 1 lap rain)
I hope you like the update. If there is something missing, tell me.
Also, like valv said, there is no way to show how much it is raining. There is a plugin for that. My friend said, he told you, but I can't find it anywhere, so I will upload my installation down below. The plugin should run then(if you download it, please backup your savegame(just your "UserData" folder))
My game: Here
Only the Update(if you don't want the plugin): Here
EDIT: IMPORTANT: The plugin has no kind of weather "prediction"...it only shows how much it is raining atm. But it also shows other useful things. If you want a tutorial, how to "read" the plugin properly, just ask.

How about we alternate between dry and races with a chance of rain, because at this rate every single race will have rain |

Oh, I just saw, that I didn't explain it enough.
In the last 2 races, I let rFactor do the weather calculations for me. From now on, I will take this.
Simple Formula:
I check the last 5 races on the circuit(f.e. China), whether it rained or not.
In the case of China it rained 2 times: 2009, 2010
2011, 2012, 2008 were dry. 2 of 5 is like 4 of 10, means 40% rain chance.
Races like Bahrain and Abu Dhabi would be 100% dry then. What do you think about that?

On the weather discussion the season will look something like this (based off races 08-12):
100% Dry - Bahrain, Spain, Singapore, India, Abu Dhabi, USA
10% Rain - Japan
20% Rain - Monaco, Canada, Germany, Hungary, Belgium(!), Italy
33% Rain - Korea
40% Rain - Britain
50% Rain - Brazil
Belgium i would boost to ~40% rain. Italy should drop to 100% Dry. Japan i would drop to 100% Dry. Britain i would raise to 50% rain.

I have the Physics.HDV mismatch again when I try and go on the server.
Also, the soft tyres appear under 'medium tyres' and medium tyres under 'hard tyres', nothing serious but I'm wondering if you guys got the same thing or not...
Thanks

thanks at TMM for calculating the percentages. I would agree with putting Belgium to 40%, GB to 50% and with dropping Italy to 0%. But rain in Japan is quite normal for that time of the year. 10% should fit well.
thanks also at jihardy for helping the other drivers. I know were the problem is. If you would download just my uploaded game, everything would be working. Croatia14 tested it.

Keine problem! Actually the only reason Japan is 10% and not 0% is because that was when a Typhoon rolled by and canceled quali. Last time it rained in a race was '07 at Fuji.
Also i tried out the plugin but removed it because it was so much useless clutter that i actually couldn't see where i was going at some points
