Omloop Het Nieuwsblad 2016
And so the Flandrien time is upon us. This year is different from other years. We have 6 races (excluding Dwars Door Vlaanderen) to show the National Coach who should be the leader at the World Championships. The main players for that honor? Tom Boonen, Kenneth Vanbilsen, Sep Vanmarcke and me.
Profile
The Omloop. Start of the classic season. I have been 12th and 8th here. My legs feel great and I hope to make an impression today! My jersey motivates me even more today!
Riding around in The Omloop in the Tricolore jersey is quite something. People are calling out my name all along the route. What a mighty feeling!
You might've noticed I'm obsessed with the WC 2016. On these cobbled races I wanted to start a war between us Belgians. The war for the top spot in the Champs!
As of this year, I'm the absolute leader in these races. My team supports me completely, so Bradley Wiggins cleared the way for me!
Sep Vanmarcke picked up the glove. He brought along Terpstra.
But there were more on their way. And so, a group of eight were heading towards a sprint finish! The Belgians in the bunch besides me? Sep Vanmarcke, Tom Boonen, Tom Van Asbroeck.
I followed Sagan's wheel in the sprint. Pozzato put up a fight, too.
The crowd shouted me to the finish line. They were giving me wings. My jersey took over my legs and my head and guided me to the victory!
The Omloop is mine!

Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne 2016
Profile
Half the weekend is done, now for the second part. I was able to win here last year, thanks to brilliant team work. I feel our team has only grown stronger this season, so let's get this show on the road!
Sole escapee of the day: Leigh Howard. We could sit back and relax, which was the perfect situation.
Stybar must be feeling good, because his team did most of the work in chasing the break.
The peloton kept together quite well and nearing the final 20 kilometers, we finally saw an attack of the favorites: Vanmarcke and Stybar.
Last year I said I wanted a stronger squad for the cobbled classics. Orica have granted me this wish. Our team was superior today. We took control at the front and reeled in every attack without any difficulty.
Roelandts launched me for the sprint. Matthews was at my wheel for a final jump. We were ready to score!
Little less than a km to go. Kristoff is looking good for the sprint but he's gone too early, maybe? I'm only getting started now!
And then there was nobody left to challenge us! Matthews came up next to me but let me cross the line first!
What a display of strength here from the team. I'm already looking forward to the classics. We'll be a force to be reckoned with. Roelandts only joined the squad a few months ago but already he's part of the team. What a guy, look at how happy he was with our victory, too.
After the race, I asked Michael why he didn't overtake me for the victory, he obviously could have. He replied he owed it to me afterr my work for him last season in Sanremo.
I joked: "Then can't you repay me with a Sanremo, too?"
