Thank you for a great report series Shonak. Although I'm disappointed with Wilco cracking in the last mountain stage, he'll have another shot next year. Willem Brouwer taking a win was great, but then his injury prevented him from competing in the later stages. Gesink's win was absolutely unexpected, but he could've assisted Wilco more. Or grab the mountain jersey, either was fine.
And I couldn't help but hoping Pellizotti was involved in that crash. He really deserved it with that great attack yesterday, but still

PCM AI to the fore once again.
Favourite moment at the Giro (team bias aside): First week has rather faded into a haze in my memory and can't really remember much about it so probably either Verdugo's victory or the ascent of Sestriere clouded in fog, and the way it was reported
Favourite rider from another team: Gotta give it to Quintana for his fighting spirit after being severely disadvantaged in the first week, he just didn't give up!

Thanks for your fantastic (and prompt) work as usual Shonak. Even if you gave me nada, I loved the race. And to be honest, I don't think any reporter could have got my bunch of turds a win.
Favourite moment: The end of the race! No, seriously, Evans' incredible performance on one of the early mountain stages was the only highlight.
Favourite rider: Maybe Geschke. I just wish any of my riders knew what taking an opportunity meant.
I'm absolutely disgusted with my team to be honest. Are there any teams that did worse than us? Maybe Cannondale? We need the Dauphiné as soon as possible. Fresh start.

Not even a chance of a normal bunch sprint on the last stage. What a waste of Viviani's race days.
Don't have any favourite moments. Maybe the time when Basso got his own bottles when he had a helper in the group. That pretty much describes his Giro.
Thanks for the great reports Shonak, was a good Giro, despite my team being absent for most of the race. |

Fantastic stuff Shonak.
Great reports throughout the Giro made for some good viewing despite a fairly open and shut GC battle. I really hope the other GCs won't be this one sided. (That is why in the last two editions of the TOTC, I tried to choose a field where there was no clear favourite. (worked well in TOTC4)
RadioShack despite:
- a good commendation from Shonak
- picking up a stage win (but the TT from Spartacus was a given)
- Kiserlovski in 8th
- winning the team classification,
failed to achieve the goal of two stage wins. Drat.....
It seems the Shonak curse still hangs mercilessly over me and RadioShack. I don't know where that curse came from, it is not like Cartoon Network did badly in TOTC. |

FDJ bagged our needed stage win and it came from the rider i expected in Fedrigo, just over hills rather than mountains. Geniez was impressive and perhaps showed enough to garner some improvements soon.
Hanzen comes away with his bit of history and honors of best sprinter, just edging out Goss and Cav's. Great race for him and for Sky in general. Raises some dilemmas for his future as a rider but all in good time.

Well. Can't say I could see Franco finishing 5th on the last stage so that was nice. In terms of GC Franco Pellizotti A great stage 20 from Pellizotti achievimg the hard goal for the Androni Team, hope he does well irl as well.
Shonak- thanks for the great reports and letting me achieve the hard goal.
And Ollfardh, where is the fair play in that? Franco deserved it more than Wilco. He has been attacking and fighting strongly. Wilco has just sat in thefavpurites group as far as I know.
Either way, Great Giro and Great Result for Androni although no stage wins was disappointing.

I thought I'd post it in the summary since I'd prefered to keep stage 21 report slim and with focus on the top men.

The rider rankings after the Giro then. Sagan is still untouchable, but underneath him the stage racers are taking over from the cobblers. The biggest jump forward comes from Betancur, who had a bad first season part, but good Ardennes and Giro got him very close from the podium. Another person to watch is Alejandro Valverde at 8, but with a lot of racedays left.

And even more excitement in the Teams Ranking. We have a new leader, as Team Sky had a very good Giro. With Froome still available for Tour and Vuelta, we might have a winner already. Belkin also jumps over Omega Pharma, but missing the top 10 in the Giro gives them a gap to close on Sky. Movistar is still 4th and crates a gap on BMC and RadioShack. Europcar's recent wins hae given them a solid 7th.
Astana and AG2R shoot up the rankings and are safe for now, while Argos and Euskaltel pay for not sending their leaders to the Giro, they're in danger of losing their WT status in the future, but for now they're still good at 15th and 16th. Just missing the cut are Orica and Lampre. Orica has no stage racer to fix things, and Lampre should've gotten more from that Giro where they went all in. They might struggle for racedays with their stage racers later on.
Next there's a gap with FDJ, they also had a weaker Giro selection and combined with their decision to only ride 1 CT race this season part, they're in trouble now and in need of a good Tour de France.
Androni would've gotten close to them if they hadn't just had a penalty for going over their race days, but they still lead the rest of the CT teams thanks to a good Giro. They have a good gap over MTN, Bardiani and Cofidis. NetApp keeps going up, but right behind them are Champion System already. Having a real manager does pay off!
Vacansoleil has also started a comback, but I fear it will be too little too late to stay in the World Tour. Last team to get a mention is Caja Rural, after a tough season start they have positive points and can start looking up.

Not much to be happy about Was hoping Goss would be a bit higher up, but obviously not. While we are still safe in terms of relegation aren't we? Vacansoleil, Lampre and FDJ are all behind us.
