Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Vasco Stage 3
The queen stage of the race, with plenty of climbs and finishing on the Arrate, it's going to be really hard. Who will be the toughest nut?
This stage's BotD was a quite small, 2-men break. Young german, Dominik Nerz and Hubert Dupont were the ones consisting the break. They got a big lead of 10min which was looking enough for them to battle for the stage-win.
While the break was fighting upfront, the peleton remained calm and pushed the pace. It was mainly OPQS and Movistar, but almost every them helped with the pacemaking. Despite the P's efforts, the break hold onto the lead, and the leading 2 sprinted out for the stage-win.
And it was the young german, Nerz, who won the stage! What a finish from him, beating Dupont!
In the pack Valverde attacked and only Anton and Martin were able to follow. Vitaly was in the 2nd group with J-Rod and Froome. The Valverde group crossed the line at 33', and the Leader's group at 51', so Solodvikov lost his GC-lead.

@sutty - It was a shame yeah, but the others were just simply stronger.
Sorry for the amount of the SS's. I deleted some of them.
Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Vasco Stage 4
The 2nd summit finish of this year's País Vasco, but it's way easier than yesterday's stage. The last hundred meters are inredibly steep, so it's a good possibility to gain time on the rivals.
The biggest name in todays BotD was Sky's Lars Petter Nordhaug, who was initiating the pace most times with the help of Vaugrenard. This break got a huge gap, and the peloton didn't seem too interested in chasing.
As we reached the final climb, the break still had a plenty of lead, so they're battling for the win. In the peloton Katusha stepped up the pace, and streched out the Peloton. On the steep and narrow roads, Rodriguez attacked and nobody could follow him, because of some blockings. But let's take a look at the front of the race, where....
.... Norwegian, Lars Petter Nordhaug wins the race! He easily beated the others, and got the deserwed stage-win. Bak took 2nd and Lindeman came 3rd.
The peloton is led by J-Rod, who is having a small gap to Anton. J-Rod comes in at 1min, Antón at 1'18, and the P with Solodovnikov at 1'35.

@IanButler - Indeed.
The spanish Katusha star, Joaquim Rodriguez broke his elbow, while training, and will miss all races until early May, so he won't be competing in the Ardennes Classics. |

@fcancellara - Let's hope so. (fingers crossed)
Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Vasco Stage 5
Today's profile is the easiest out of the last 3 days, so we'll hope that Vitalij can keep his excellent GC position.
The stage started fast, and after a while a really strong break formed, featuring Zabriskie, Kessiakoff and such. However that was the breaks destiny, because the pack (mainly Euskaltel) didn't want to let them go away, and kept them close.
On the last climb, out of nowhere Igor Antón attacked, and about 20 cyclists joined him, and created a big favourite group. Unfotunately our russian, Solodovnikov wasn't able to make the split, and tried to get back solo. He was about a minute behind, but then the lead group started to go away,, as he was tireing.
The favourite group started the sprint preps during the downhill, and increased the gap to Vitalij, who followed at 1:45!
After a hard fought sprint, it's Rui Costa, whi takes the win! What a sprint beating Barredo, Vermote (!) and also his captain Valverde! Antón finishes in the leading group, while Solodovnikov comest at 2'29, and drops to the 16th place in the GC.

@ste_18 - Indeed, thanks for following!
Note: This report will concentrate on the GC fights, so no SS's for the favourites....
Vuelta a Pais Vasco Stage 6
The all deciding, 18km long TT. The nightmare of the bad TTers, the playground of the powerhouses. Who will be the winner of the battle?
Situation before the top 5:
1 | Daisuke Yoshinabe | SpiderTech - Cervélo | 26'35 | 2 | Richie Porte | Sky Procycling | + 1 | 3 | Tony Martin | Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team | + 2 | 4 | Steve Moore | SpiderTech - Cervélo | + 11 | 5 | Haimar Zubeldia | RadioShack - Nissan | + 18 | 6 | Marco Pinotti | BMC Racing Team | + 19 | 7 | Maxime Monfort | RadioShack - Nissan | + 21 | 8 | Chris Horner | RadioShack - Nissan | + 23 |
The spanish TT champion, Luis Leon Sanchez is the first to go out on the track of the top 5, and he does decently, 25s off from Yoshinabe's time.
Team Sky's Chris Froome is a great TT-er, and he proves it! Just 9secs off the leader's time, great time-trial by him! Where will he end up in the GC?
The Irishman Daniel Martin is not the best against the clock, and has trouble finding his rhytm during the course. Disappointingly finishes 57sec down on our Japanese leader.
Valverde needs to ride 27'02 to keep his gap against Froome. Will he be able to make it?
Spoiler 27'02! He makes it! Now the last question remains. What can Igor Anton do?
The race leader Igor Anton needs a time of 27'27 to retain his lead and win Vuelta a País Vasco, which is his home race. Can he hold on? He tries his best and crosses the line at...
Spoiler 27'29! Unbelieveable! He misses the cut by 2seconds, and gets bumped from 1st to 3rd! What a bummer for him!
1 | Daisuke Yoshinabe | SpiderTech - Cervélo | 26'35 | 2 | Richie Porte | Sky Procycling | + 1 | 3 | Tony Martin | Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team | + 2 | 4 | Chris Froome | Sky Procycling | + 9 | 5 | Steve Moore | SpiderTech - Cervélo | + 11 | 6 | Haimar Zubeldia | RadioShack - Nissan | + 18 | 7 | Marco Pinotti | BMC Racing Team | + 19 | 8 | Maxime Monfort | RadioShack - Nissan | + 21 | 9 | Chris Horner | RadioShack - Nissan | + 23 | 10 | Rui Costa | Movistar Team | + 24 |
What a dramatic end to race! Alejandro Valverde wins in Basque Country, Froome comes 2nd with the same time, and Antón gets 3rd with a 2sec gap. How unlucky for Froome and Anton? The best spider is Solodovnikov finishing on the 15th.
