- Halfway Finèstre, so with 40km to go(You all misread the question )
- Partly recovered, but he will at least lose a few seconds
- Hmm. I guess the break wins, and Caruso wins it. If not, one of the GC outsiders will win it. (So Kelderman, Anton, Taaramaë or Mollema)

Stage 19, part 2
44km to go
Just 2 kilometres of the 18 of the Finestre are done, and it has become obvious whether the crash did injured Igor Antón or not. He gets dropped by the other favourites and can forget he GC-podium.
Thanks to Francis De Greef, who does some great domestique work for WIlco Kelderman, the margin to the 5 leaders starts to decrease.
37km to go
Rujano, Sarmiento and Caruso are halfway up the climb and start to continue on the unpaved road. Serpa and Knees have been dropped. The peloton follows at 14'26, with Antón already 7 minutes behind!
31km to go
The first of the GC-contenders to attack is Rein Taaramäe. The Estonian knows he will improve his ranking from 5th to 4th and is probably dreaming of the podium. He gets countered by Rowe, Spilak and Scarponi, but both Nibali and Kelderman will close the gap very quickly again. This happens 11'32 behind the 3 leaders.
28km to go
Giampaolo Caruso has first dropped José Rujano and shortly before the summit of the Finestre also Cayetano Sarmiento. The Colombian follows at a few seconds. Taaramäe follows at 9'33 and the group Kelderman-Scarponi-Nibali-Spilak-Rowe at 10'03. And Antón? He follows at 31'21, meaning he has lost more than 21 minutes to the group of favourites in 16 kilometres time...
9km to go
Caruso starts the final climb to Sestrière with a small margin of '15 to Sarmiento. But he has lost 4 minutes of his margin in the 19km descend after the Finestre to the group of favourites.
4km to go
5 more relatively easy ascending kilometres, and the group of favourites has decreased the margin with another 3+ minutes. Rujano gets caught, at the moment Taaramäe attacks again (2'08 behind Caruso). Kelderman follows, just as Nibali and Scarponi.
2500m to go
Things are starting to look bad for Caruso, as with 2.5km to go, Taarmäe is only '42 behind. Nibali, who has attacked proving he is the best rider in this Giro, follows at 1'00 and Kelderman and Nibali at 1'16.
1km to go
The dream of a stage win is over for Caruso, as he the Maglia Rosa flying past him. Kelderman has run out of energy again, and follows at 15 seconds.
Finish
And that is stage win number 3 for Vincenzo Nibali, giving the glory to the Maglia rosa that it deserves! Scarponi does a great job for the 2nd place in the GC, as he finishes in 2nd place, with a gap of 30 seconds to Taaramäe and Kelderman. Caruso finishes in 5th at 1'12, meaning he has lost 11 minutes and 25 seconds in the last 28 kilometres, from the summit of the Finestre to the finish.....
The clock starts ticking, with the riders finishing one by one, all exhausted. Antón finishes in 84th at 36 minutes. 12 riders finish outside the time limit, among them some nice sprinters as Mark Renshaw, Ben Swift and Theo Bos.

Today's Winner
Word from the DS
What a strange stage... First a strong BOTD, then Antón crashing and cracking at the slopes of the Finestre. Then the BOTD loosing a lot of time in a few kilometres, and in the end Nibali winning it. Too bad Scarponi gained '32 seconds. It'll be almost impossible for Kelderman to be 1'02 faster then him in the final ITT.

Can't realise as in one moment Nibali is losing time and in the other is winning the stage. |

Nah, he said at 2500m to go that Nibali attacks, at 1km that the 'Maglia Rosa',(So Nibbles) flew past Caruso, and after that he took the win
Anyway, still Wilco did a good job. Steadily in 3th place, and maybe there happens a miracle tomorrow

Correct, and I've used the PCM Fast Editor to set the probability to crash at maximum.

Stage 20
Stage 20, the last decisive stage. 49 kilometres contre-la-monter, so ITT. The GC will be decided today.
Edvald Boasson Hagen looks to have fully recovered from a crash earlier in this Giro, and sets the best time so far: 1h04'27.
What goes for Hagen, goes for Janez Brajkovic. He started as a podium candidate, but a few crashes made him loose the opportunity to finally get a GT-podium. Today he shows what he's capable of, best time so far in 1h03'26.
The top 5 of the GC has started. Slovenian Simon Spilak is 3'25 slower than Brajkovic. But he'll finish this Giro in 5th place, his best performance ever in a GT!
What goes for Spilak, also goes for Rein Taaramäe. The Estonian rides the best GT in his career, winning 1 stage and finishing in 4th in the GC. He rides the 3rd time so far, '52 behind Brajkovic.
Intermediate Times 1st sector
1. Brajkovic 15'37; 2. Hagen +25; 3. Taaramäe +26; 4. Nibali +34; 5. Sicard +40; 6. Scarponi +46; 36. Kelderman +1'26.
Wilco Kelderman starts his ITT pretty slow. His team mates tried different tactics, but it was obvious that starting too fast, wasn't the right tactic. But knowing he has to gain 1'02 to Scarponi to finish in 2nd overall, that idea can be thrown away.
Saxo Banks Michele Scarponi is a fairly weak time trialist. But wknowing he has to defend the 2nd place in the GC, he can do more than thought possible. He surprisingly rides the 6th time after 2 sectors!
The 49 kilometres towards Torino are 1 big triumphal for Vincenzo Nibali. The Sicilian is about to win his 1st Giro d'Italia, and noting can stop him!
Intermediate Times 2nd sector
1. Brajkovic 44'24; 2. Hagen +50; 3. Taaramäe +54; 4. Nibali +1'10; 5. Sicard +1'34; 6. Scarponi +1'46; 23. Kelderman +3'17.
Wilco Kelderman rides a great last sector, even taking the 4th place at the moment. With 1'48 behind Brajkovic, he knows that he has secured his first GT-podium!
Michele Scarponi rides the 6th time in this ITT, what is a huge surprise as he isn't known to be a ITT-specialist. He had a margin of 1'02 to Kelderman and looses only '12.
But without a doubt, this is the winner of the Giro d'Italia 2014: Vincenzo Nibali. The Sicilian Shark finishes the ITT in 4th place and will win his first Giro with a margin of 2'25!

Word from the DS
So the 3rd place in the GC is for Wilco Kelderman, his first GT-podium! And I think, the first of many! We'll start the last stage with 1 goal: defending th epoints jersey. So Hagen may not finish in 1st or 2nd....

Also, Luke Rowe's impressive! |
