nope. This climb sucks. as long as the last km is at 15% nobody will ever try anything serious earlier.
What makes the Alpe so good is that it is steepest at the bottom so attacks have to come early (like Quintana this year, or Sastre in 08 etc).

Not 100% convinced about that, but generally the Alpe will make for a nicer race, that's true.
Though I still don't believe this climb can't do anything more

It has to be national bias, I mean he is doing okay but that is all he is doing at the moment
I would say a bit better than okay, this wasnt expected from him so far..
Anyways, just learned about his tough childhood not being able to read properly and such, so my respect has just gone up
I know he is no superstar, but he is certainly doing better than CAS. It has been a long time since we had a young rider with some potential in the mountains, so exicited that he shows something. He seems like a shy guy, but that's fine with me, not everyone has to be Sagan.

If it was pre 2003 and we have some dominant riders with good teams to blow it apart in the bottom, but in this day and age with such a plateau lasting for 4-6 kilometres, everyone knew it would come down to the last 3 kilometers.
You are right tho, it COULD have turned out that way, but I dont think the composition of the climb is good at all. Much more often than not it would turn out like it did today I reckon
Edit: And Im not convinced about your Alpe-comment either, although im obviously not sure since they always put some big climbs in beforehand. But as Spilak mentioned, Alpe is such a good climb due to it being steepest at the bottom and regular all the way up until the last few KMs that they always pretty much blow it apart from the bottom. Im almost sure that also would have happened on today's profile. |

Totally agree, with that plateau I think most people understood that the last 2km were going to be the only ones that mattered.
Kinda disappointing considering the first and last part of the climb are hard. I dont see how you can make a one climb day like this and have the first half of the final climb mean nothing. |

This is his big chance to win a GT, he's better against the clock than Aru and Purito and looks to be climbing well enough

The break already has a 13 minute gap over the peloton with some strong riders in it including Rolland, Schleck, Torres and KOM leader Fraile.

To be honest as a Pole I would like to see 2 things, Majka not losing much time today and in Wednesday riding time trial of his life. And then it would be second Polish rider to finish GT on a podium. |

I'am gutted that this stage will be decided among useless breakaway riders 
Yes we get two races which is nice sometimes, but on huge stages like this one, the big guns needs to contest for the win. |

Then you shouldn't be watching GT's and should stay right away from the Vuelta, this is just how these races are raced.
