"In an exclusive interview with The Advertiser, O'Grady admitted he sourced the EPO - a blood booster - and administered it without anyone knowing.
He then carried it with him during the `98 Tour, but never used it during the race."

Only two weeks and only one time, O'Grady? Really?
That's ridicilous. Wouldn't be surprised that he doped through all his career. |

Wow, the journalist is real consistent
"1997: Makes his Tour de France debut
1998: Rides the Tour de France for the first time, wins Stage 14 and wears yellow jersey for two days" |

See what I mean? Always the same. I totally didn't dope for my big wins. I only doped once and it just happened to be that exact time I got caught, but I swear I didn't any other time.

Basso was better. "I only intended to dope, once in my life, and I gave blood to Fuentes. I never got to use it, and I never doped.
I understand that I shall be sanctioned because I intended to dope, but I never actually doped. "

Reminds me of Dekkers first confession. Although now he told the utter truth and complete story to the authorities and vaughters. Too bad the details haven't leaked out yet. I'd want to know who helped who were involved etc.. but now only dutch doping authorities and vaughters now. Vaughters did let it slip that Dekker was into far more advanced type of blood doping then for instance Danielson at US Postal |

Why is that? Is it because their wins would be deleted from the records and/or all the prize money have to be returned?
I have some understanding about riders not wanting to name other names that hepled them to dope or others riders that they knew were doping but why not come clean about the length of time they were doping. |

Because they don't want to come clean. O'Grady never intended to admit to anything, so now that he's been caught he spins this story that it was totally just this one time.
They have an ego and don't want to admit they were cheating. So, he comes up with this preposterous bullshit that 'I was just trying to survive'. Beating the world's best to the yellow jersey at the Tour de France is a bit more than just 'surviving', mate

O'Grady will lose his Olympic gold medal if he confessed doping in 2004
(Similar to Ullrich couple of weeks ago)

None of his samples were sufficiently well preserved to be tested.
Also Jens Voigt is lucky again: too less urine in his sample to test it properly
Too bad...

So much for the "sprinters don't need to dope" argument.
yeaaah.
Kirsipuu was talking 7 years (when doping was not popular subject) ago that sprinters was doped as climbers.
No way sprinter can take mountains like that.
Also O'Grady was whining that he was forced to do that because he would have been droped at first 5 climb km. (Kirsipuu never get over the mountains)
Also Jaan was telling back then he was close to end a career because peloton was that powerful that he had problems to stay with it even at flat stages |
