If cameramen or directors were broadcasting a sport instead of focusing on pain, drama or facial expression, we could witness more cycling and less Voeckler faces, and then everyone would be happy with Voeckler's results.
Just saying...
Also, less close ups would mean the TV motorbikes would ride farther away from riders and wouldn't drag them more or less deliberately... |

Such hatred against Voeckler's stage performances. I think he's just brilliant
No seriously, he's probably my favorite rider, getting everything possible out of his talent and career. He keeps doing it. |

Voeckler - just when you think the guy is out of shape he comes along and does this! I find it hard to love Voeckler but boy the guy is entertaining.
Was just musing on the way home about early tour podium predictions. Froome is big favourite, I feel as if Contador is looking as he did 2011, vulnerable as hell.
There is a surprise out there on the podium I can feel it this year, TVG perhaps, but something further like Taaramae, Rolland, Porte, Pinot or Quintana?

Yes. Make your bets on him.
I think stage win + KOM + possible podium.
It all depends totally on Valverde that is though ( about possible GC podium ).

If he can survive the first hectic weak without any losses he has a good chance. Though we have to wait how him not racing Dauphine/Suisse for high altitude training in Colombia affects him.
Atleast that tactic did work great for Rasmussen

>TVG
Wouldn't even surprise me
>Taaramae
I seriously doubt it
>Rolland
Could be, but he's too bad at timetrialing I think
>Porte
I seriously hope not
>Pinot
Could be
>Quintana
We'll see how he recuperates |

By the way a name I missed out there was Dan Martin... Though he is a crappy TTer too. He seems on a new confidence high level too.

While I do think he's one of the absolute best climbers in the current peloton, I seem to recall Vaughters himself saying that he doesn't have the recovery needed to compete in the GTs. He's a good bet for a stage win and the KoM jersey, though.
And I've also got Quintana as a real podium contender. A lot will depend on what his role in the team will be, but I'm sure he has the capacity. Only Froome is a better climber, if you ask me.

Yeah, well, you have to wonder about what riders are going so far from UCI basements to train in altitude, when they could have Tour-like altitudes in many European places and spare themselves the jet lag. |

I wouldnt expect much from Quintana. He will come back from Colombia direct to France and will start the Tour with any racing days since Liège-Bastogne-Liége. So he might be taking it easy in all stages without Mountains like last Year Vuelta. |

Some big names are in the breakaway: VDB, Rolland, De Gendt, Chavanel, Gallopin, Veilleux ... in total there seem to be 22 riders in the break with around 4 minutes of lead according to cyclingnews. |

Madrazo, Veilleux, De Gendt and Sylvain Chavanel already dropped.
EBH pushing good pace at the front.

I wonder. De Gendt is at Vacansoleil, can't seem to do a nice performace since Giro last year. Now I wonder. |

You know what I'd really like? That Martins would stop talking about Sky's Jerome Thomas and Garmin's Dennis Rowe

Contador pulling on the front for a teammate. I've only seen that once before.
Back then it was to pull back the GC favorite who had attacked: Zabriskie. Yeah, it was a weird stage

So Geraint Thomas is like at least the 10th best climber in this race today??
