All right. Plenty of possibilities for serious topics. Pick the one(s) you like, or propose new ones.
When are things in Syria going to be sorted out, and in what way ?
Is Israel going to strike Iran ? When and how ?
Should EU have two parliaments, one for the Euro-zone, one for the 27 countries ?
Lately Romney seemed in a better position than one or two months ago, but Sandy (the storm) might stop his momentum. So... who's going to win the elections ?
Does the French government look as clueless and retarded from abroad as it does from here ?

Everybody is upset and will now vote for Pim Fortuyn the 2nd, Geert Wilders, who basically says: "you are not Dutch? Leave our country." I am a native Dutch myself as far as I can track my family tree down, but I think Wilders is ridiculous

I don't think that's special for their standards, but they claim one thing in the morning and deny it by the evening, like three times per week, because either the opinion disagrees with the idea, either the minister who got the idea didn't think within the credo of the government, or something like that.
Then, when we're already among the most tax overwhelmed Europeans, they've chosen to raise taxes again rather than cutting among other costs (i.e. civil servants, but they're the core of their electors, what else could we expect ?).
As if that wasn't enough, they (rightfully) blamed the former govt for its tendency to oppose a class of people to another class, on every single topic, and for its tendency to put the blame on socialists. What do they do now that they're in charge ? The frigging same, but with different groups of people.
Last but not least, they seem to know what they should do but... they won't because that wouldn't be socialist (in their eyes). They're just the most retarded socialists in the Western world...
Meh... Where's my plane ticket ?

Then we have the fact that the French protest whenever the government choose to raise the retirement age. The French have the most days paid vacation in all of EU. They also have the lowest retirement age in the whole of EU. In Sweden we have to work until we are 65 and in about a year 70. And in France you work until you're 62. Longer work life or higher taxes? It's the people's choice since the economy won't last for both
Here the retirement age is 67, however you can get early retirement at 62. There haven't any talks lately of increasing it, but I am pretty sure it's coming. People are getting healthier and healthier and living longer, it would only be natural that one is expected to work longer aswell.
It's a pity though, that you are forced to spent the "best years of your life" working only to spend your old age living in what can only be decribed as relative poverty.

Yup, you have a point in this.
Here in the Netherlands it used to be 65, but they have just moved it to 67 and there are plans to get the retirement age to 69/70...
Gosh, I guess that when I will retire the retirement age will be about 75
I feel bad for those who "only" live to be 75-80 years of age. When they're done working they've got but a few years left to live. In my family, and in this region, people tend to live till somewhere between 90 and 100 years old so technically I'll have several good years ahead of me (let's just hope the government doesn't find out)
