If I was active on twitter, I'd follow. But since I check PCM.Daily 50 times a day and Twitter once a year, I guess I'm better off here |

Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Vasco Preview
Pais Vasco isn't a too important race for our sponsors, so our big guns won't be participating. However, we have our russian, Solodovnikov who is building form for the Ardennes Classics, where he'll be our leader. Yoshinabe is also here, as well as De la Fuente, they'll try to be in breaks, but it depends a lot on their daily forms.
Startlist:
GC
*** J-Rod, Froome, Valverde
** Antón, F.Schleck, De Gendt
* Gerrans, Voeckler, LLS
Sprints
*** Bole, Kristoff, Blythe
** Valverde, Soupe, Arashiro
* J-Rod, Steegmans, Brown
Note: I don't really like this race, so the reports will most likely be shorter, with not too many SS-s. (2-3 a stage.) I hope you don't mind this, but I'd like to get through the race quickly. |

Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Vasco Stage 1
Today's stage is quite bumpy, has several categorised climb, and it's perfectly designed for a break, or a reduced mass sprint. Let's see how it works out.
This stage was a bit strange, because of the lack of breaks, as there were no BotD. Katusha and Euskaltel controlled the pace, and used all their domestiques to control the break.
The hills in the stage didn't do too many damage, but some sprinters still weren't able to hang on. The pack was slowly concentrating on the sprint, as we reached the last climb's end.
At around the 1km mark Nocentin was in the lead, Moreno on his wheel. Our very own Solodovnikov was a bit behind but ready to launch. Who will be the most explosive one?
And it's the spanish hero, Alejandro Valverde who takes it! He beat the others really comfortably! Rabobank's Barredo gets 3rd, and our russian, Vitaliy comes in 3rd, after a great sprint.
1 | Alejandro Valverde | Movistar Team | 3h50'17 | 2 | Carlos Barredo | Rabobank Cycling Team | s.t. | 3 | Vitaliy Solodovnikov | SpiderTech - Cervélo | s.t. | 4 | Bert-Jan Lindeman | Vacansoleil - DCM Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 5 | Daniel Moreno | Katusha Team | s.t. | 6 | JoaquÃm RodrÃguez | Katusha Team | s.t. | 7 | Rigoberto Urán | Sky Procycling | s.t. | 8 | Luis León Sánchez | Rabobank Cycling Team | s.t. | 9 | Michael Albasini | Orica - GreenEdge | s.t. | 10 | Simon Gerrans | Orica - GreenEdge | s.t. |
Solodovnikov - 1 for his great result |

Great sprint from Solodovnikov! If he had started the sprint a little further up front, he'd probably won it. Good luck with the next stages

@IanButler,Welwyn,Miguel,Sutty - Thanks it was a great start, indeed.
@andy222c - Well, he didn't have too much energy left, I believe this was the right time to start the sprint, he just didn't have the legs.
I have some great news to you guys, I'll have a lot more free time this weekend (and next week), so I'll try to make more reports and reach the more important races (P-R, Giro and also Trentino possibly etc.) faster. |

Note: Shorter report, as it'll likely be in all of Pais Vasco.
Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Vasco Stage 2
The only flat stage in the race comes now. It has some climbs, but I don't think that these hills are going to make differences. Let's see what happens.
The stage kicked off slowly, and a break formed, including Wout Mol and Gavazzi from Astana. They built up a 6min lead, when Lampre took over at the front.
As we reached the final hill, Lampre caught the break with the help of Movistar, and pushed the pace through the whole ascent. At ca. 3kms the sprint started, and Vitaliy was positioned well on the wheel of Perez and Bole.
At the 1km mark Grega Bole was leading the way, with Perez and Solodovnikov being really close. Perez jumped strongly at 600, and our russian wasn't able to follow, but came 2nd.
Ruben Perez takes the victory after a powerful sprint! Great win by the basque in his home tour! Spaniard Reynes comes 2nd, and Kohler edges out Vitaly for the 3rd.
