Evaldas was unlucky on he third stage, but Serebryakov is showing absolute domination. He should get plenty of wins for you next year. |

Pelli are you sure you linked me the right Db, because it seems not to have any changes?

Race 2 was an excellent day!
Though it makes you wonder, maybe he would've won if he hadn't lost energy on the intermediate attack! But then again, you had to take your chances
I doubt that. Koretzky was the one who took the intermediate sprints after all, not Evaldas.

I'm hoping so too!

Just doublechecked - it's the right one. Are you sure that you've selected it?

2.1: Tour du Poitou Charentes - stage 4
The TT's opening hours include a lot of average times. The serious race eventually kicks off when Adriano Malori smashes the clock with a strong ride.
Malori - 30'24
Malori only gets to enjoy the provisional lead for a short while however, as he gets surpassed by Laszlo Bodrogi just a few minutes after his arrival.
Bodrogi - 30'05
An in-shape David Veilleux then squeezes in between Bodrogi and Malori. Very impressive performance from the recent Limousin stage winner.
Veilleux - 30'17
After a shorter period of weaker times, things start to look better and better for Bodrogi. Not even pre-race favourite; Jonathan Castroviejo, can match up - missing out by as much as nine seconds.
Castroviejo - 30'14
It soon turns out that only one man has the capacity to wrestle down Bodrogi today.
And guess what? It's Paillot! After spending several races as a brilliant domestique, he finally gets an own chance - and certainly delivers! A complete annihilation as well - overwhelming Bodrogi by as much as 15 seconds!
Paillot - 29'50
Only the sprinters at the top of the GC left then. Evaldas performs admirably, considering the fact that TTs are far from his speciality. Staying within a minute over twenty kilometers is an excellent ride!
Siskevicius - 30'48
Koretzky on the other hand... Third overall at the start of the day. Rather far ahead of basically everyone on the GC.
Unfortunately, not even the time handicap can save him out on the parcours. His TT stat of 60 turns this into a nightmare, costing almost two minutes at the finish. Free fall in the GC standings after this, obviously.
Koretzky - 31'36
Serebryakov also suffers, as expected. After a long and painful day, the clock stops at + 1'28. No more yellow for him, but still well placed in the GC thanks his position ahead of the stage.
Serebryakov - 31'18
So, it's stage win and race lead for Paillot!

2.1: Tour du Poitou Charentes - stage 5
A day of happiness and glory remaining for us! Paillot enters the day with a good buffer over everyone else in the GC. As long as he doesn't lose contact with the main field - this race is his!
It's always fun to try something unexpected, though! When reaching the day's very steep final ascent - Koretzky attacks!
Koretzky puts in a dig in the steepest part.
At the same time as he flies away, the early breakaway gets caught. This stalls the chase for a few seconds - allowing Koretzky to build up a lead of over a minute in the matter of just a kilometer!
Complete chaoes erupts afterwards, and no serious hunt is formed. Therefore Koretzky just continues to extend his lead - winning the stage all by himself after a short but intensive effort. Now, to start the clock...
Koretzky profits from the non-existent chase!
Serebryakov confirms his dominance yet again by taking the sprint for second in front of Van Poppel. Evaldas rolls over the line in fifth, with Paillot following just behind him.
Sere cleans up the sprint once again.
But hang on! They're 1'26 behind Koretzky - which means that he takes the overall as well! Paillot loses out in his first ever GC victory, by a mere 20 seconds!
1 | Clément Koretzky | La Pomme Marseille | 4h19'27 | 2 | Alexander Serebryakov | Team Type 1 - Sanofi | + 1'26 | 3 | Boy Van Poppel | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 4 | Kristof Goddaert | AG2R La Mondiale | s.t. | 5 | Evaldas Siskevicius | La Pomme Marseille | s.t. |
Talk about twist! Koretzky's late escape nets him the overall victory, and us a double win! A ton of points raked in, with Evaldas also scoring a few by finishing 12th overall. Another amazing race, results-wise!

I'm still on hard, so there is already a higher difficulty.
I may change to extreme for the new season. We'll see.

1.2: Ronde van Midden-Nederland
Next up is this low-class one day race in the Netherlands. The terrain is as flat as it gets, so it'll most likely be a race for the sprinters.
I suppose you know the routine by now. Flat race means that it's full backup for Evaldas. Thanks to the form built up in Poitou-Charentes, we have the materiel to form a really strong train for him. Giraud and Vaubourzeix are here to improve the form for later.
Van Rensburg probably wants win number 17, so he'll be a tough nut to crack. Others to watch out for are Yoeri Havik and Andreas Stauff. Says a bit about the startlist's "strength".
Things start to get a little messy near the front of the field as the day's long breakaway is caught in the race finale. Therefore we organize things with a strong train. It's Novotny at the front, followed by Martinez, Paillot, Skujins and Evaldas.
A long, white line of La Pomme riders.
The other lead sprinters choose to move in behind us as the finish comes closer and closer. The train meanwhile gets shorter and shorter. Martinez hands over the work to Paillot just outside the three kilometer mark, leaving him with the leadout task.
Paillot leads it out with three ks remaining.
Skujins soon realizes that he doesn't have his best legs. A quick decision is made, and just as Paillot launches the sprint, Skujins lets go of the wheel!
A gap immediately opens up, so we just move aside - looking at the other sprinters to close it down. None of them seems to bother though, as they all just start looking around at each other.
Paillot shoots clear!
The cat and mouse game continue for several hundred meters. They eventually all go for it at the same time, when realizing that Paillot has extended his gap to almost twenty seconds with a kilometer left!
A few hundred meters in front at the kilometer mark!
The sprinters close in on him very rapidly inside the final k, but they run out of road - and Paillot wins the race, just in front of a frustrated Van Rensburg! The sneaky maneuver worked perfectly!
As mentioned, it's Van Rensburg who takes the sprint for second. In the battle for third, Evaldas just misses out. Roy Jans pips him by less than half a wheel at the line. Still, a fourth place isn't bad at all!
Paillot wins ahead of the storming sprinters!

Been catching up lately, that was a great Tour du Poitou Charentes and Midden-Nederland!
Considering you're playing on extreme, this is insane racing, and perfect season planning!

As I said earlier on this very page: I'm on hard, not on extreme.
It's always easy to achieve nice results in the last months of the season, as most of the AI riders have already raced too much - causing them to lose form. I do realize that we're quite dominant at the moment though, so it's very possible that I'll up the difficulty to extreme for 2013.

Thanks, guys!
1.2: Zagreb - Ljubljana
As final race in the month of August, another smaller classic. South-eastern Europe and Slovenia welcomes us to this tough, hilly race. A few shorter hills along the route, before a tough 4 km climb up to the finish line.
Koretzky will obviously go as undisputed leader. Skujins, Paillot and Evaldas will provide high-quality help for him. We'll try everything to really get the best possible result out of the race, as the next race is almost two weeks away - and who knows where the form will be by then?
The freakishly versatile Reinardt Janse van Rensburg is, as in basically all the Continental Tour races this year, one of the biggest favourites. Also aside from him, the list is strong. The hard finale will suit Mr. Clean, Stefan Schumacher, and super talent Ian Boswell nicely as well.
Only the preview for now, as I'm too tired to write the report at the moment. Will be up at some point tomorrow.
