No, but that example of yours just fuels the cliché of very religious and highly capitalistic people that Americans are supposed to be. |

That's what I want to know! Ahh screw them. They said I don't represent my parish by giving money. Screw it. I didn't pay that bill, and they legally can't make me.
Damn right They can't make you, they can only curse you and ask God to strike down lightning upon you |

I think it's funny how religions are constantly asking for money.
For an allknowing, allpowerfull and omnipotent being, God is pretty crap when it comes to financial handling since he appears to be going broke constantly.

I said no offense!
And yes, Somehow it fills the stereotype of overly religious people in the US As, Aquarius stated...
But seriously:
Ive been to the US, and there are a gazillion of "different churches" of the same religion that claim to show you the only and right way to god, by praising one and the same thing, yet claiming they are somewhat better than their neighbours. My comment had nothing to do with greediness, but more so with the idiotic display of faith by klergy men in the US (if they can be called that...). Tbh, I have never heard of any other place, where you are being billed by your church, for not attending mass...
I mean there is a Tax for the catholic church in place in many countries, but once you step out of church (become an Atheist or even protestant), you dont pay it anymore. And even if you pay the tax, the priests dont give a rats ass if you attend or not...
I apologize again, Baseball, should have mde that clearrer in my comment...

I don't go to that church anymore.
Ahhh... Miggi, I misinterpreted. Sorry. Still, I find that the church that billed me aren't very American at a ll, since they can't understand American law.

They probably understand the law, but they think that they are above it...

I can't say anything about Islam because then everybody will throw eggs at me. I can't say anything about Buddhism because they say that "We are a religion of peace" . Hinduism can't be taken seriously with an elephant with four arms who rides on a rat. Protestantism is the same thing as catholism and it only leads to war and miserable. Mormon is basically a sex orgie. Jehovah's witnesses just want to get into your house
Interesting that you left Judaism out...
Oh and Scientology (they are an accepted Religion afterall! Eventhough I cant really understand why)...
Oh and Jehovahs witnesses have apparently never come to your door... They just want to spread the message of "god". As does any church. The only difference is, that Jehovahs witnesses are frouned upon thanks to the christian churches. And due to many countries seeing themselves as christian countries, there are no massive churches for jehovas witnesses. But in order to get membres, they have to do something. So why not go from door to door and ask for money. Hell the Catholic church does it on January 6th every year. You just more inclined to pay them off because they send children (and everyone is so much more inclined to pay horrendous amounts of money when children are asking for it) and not convinced members of their religion. And I know that I sound very much like a hyppocryte because I live in a country whose wellfare state was created by church...
At least where i live the money is donated or invested in local projects. There´s absolutely no interested in making profit or get new members. On top of that, the children have fun, mainly because they can walk around in costumes. Can´t see anything negative there.
Sure, its fun for the kids BUT,
The catholic Church has enough money to fund 5 "feed the world" projects, collects money every sunday in mass and then comes around at every possible occasion to ask for money so the DIOZESE can built a new project and claim it as donated by the catholic church...
My church is a big money hog. I skip church a few weeks and they bill my house. WTF? So now I give them nothing.
What the fuck dude...
I thought the christian church was awful enough as it is, but I'd never heard of that. Damn right you shouldn't pay!

Not a religious man, but when did Jesus ask for money?

After last supper, he realised that he didnt have enough cash on hi to pay. He then went on to ask everyone at the table, and because Peter (?) wasnt payed back, he got jesus killed by the roman mafia...

Unless you can prove Maria-Magdalena, or whatever the English spelling is, was a actually a man, you might have a hard time proving your point, but feel free to argument it. |

And even if you prove it is true, being gay and seeing prostitutes was nothing out of normal back in these days...

My aunt is homosexual. I'm not homophobic at all and i'm a very liberal democrat. Who would go out with twelve other men in a dessert, no food, no water, no women. I wouldn't have been surprised if he was homosexual or went to prostitutes |
