Totally agree, once again cycling in the headlines for the wrong reasons If you consider cycling as UCI's sport, it's just getting what it deserves, or shall I say not even half of what it deserves.
If you consider the sport as a whole, I agree though. |

It would also help Lance that he was significantly lighter after cancer.

There's only one God : The Flying Spaghetti Monster. Period.
I guess you've never had too many philosophy courses (neither did I), but when you're interested by thing such as truth, science, etc. you realise that an opinion is not a fact, and vice-versa.
You're free to believe whatever you want, such as the Earth is flat, Intelligent Design, man never walked on the moon, etc. but that doesn't make it true, or right. Actually, beliefs are of no interest when it comes to facts.
If there's EPO in someone's urine, it's not a matter of opinon : THERE IS EPO in it. Question is 'how did it get there ?' not 'do I have to believe it's there ? I'm free to believe whatever I want'.
Are you freaking putting down my religion now too?

I think what he's trying to say is this: religion is different from fact in the sense that it's subjective: it all comes down to belief, what someone believes to be the case. Everyone is free to believe in whatever they want, and as such different religions exist in the world.
Facts are different in the sense that they can be verified. In the case of Lance Armstrong, the facts speak for themselves, and as such there is no point in believing anything else.
Religion isn't based upon fact but upon belief. Therefore you can't compare religion to the Lance Armstrong case.
You are free to believe whatever you want, as there is no verifiable right or wrong in religion. However, people can be right or wrong about Lance, since in his case there are dozens of facts that can't be denied.

Please . I am agnostic myself but one of my best friends is roman catholic (and very zealous) but we all agreed during our philosophy and religion courses that these conversations can take hours. So please dont take it personally.
badly written. Sorry - I just meant that anybody can believe in anything...

Looks like if Armstrong's charges are upheld, Bruyneel's gone, possibly forever.

Yeah. Based on the numbers it seems Hesjedal on average of all the climbs in the Giro had 405-410 watts. |

I am getting used to world without Contador, but i am sure i will be happy to see him race again, so yes, it could easily turn into :

yeah this is the first time something about cycling has been on ESPN since the end of the TDF. Really doesn't help to make the sport popular here.
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. Teach a man to cycle and he will realize fishing is stupid and boring.

Since we are on about Armstrong's doping charges here and the the fact there is scientific and hard evidence. What do the Sky haters, who say they are doped, have in terms of hard evidence and scientific evidence on their riders? |

well since everybody else doped who the fuck cares if Lance doped? It isn't like he had an unfair advantage.
Oh but he did. Different drugs have massively different effects on different riders.
Edwig Van Hooydonck won the Ronde van Vlaanderen twice by age 25. Then EPO came and he couldn't win anything.
Bjarne Riis was an average domestique. Then EPO came and he was 5th in the Tour instantly and won the KOM jersey too.
That is one of the main reasons doping has to stop.
As I mentioned a page or so back the different effects of PED's on different riders interests me.
Without thinking about it too much I had, until relatively recently, rather naively, assumed that everyone using meant a fairly level playing field. Applying a bit of common sense since tells me any drug, recreational, medicinal or performance enhancing, will affect people differently.
Short of what you mentioned above not sure on what info there is out there on this subject (doubt there are numbers but more detailed, first hand qualitative accounts???) but if anyone knows a good source or 2 please point me the right direction here or via PM as I'd be interested to read more, thanks.
*Edit* also scroll down here for an interesting graphic on who may a long long way down the line inherit the 7 wins (or not please spare us the nonsense whatever the outcome!) https://www.cyclin...at-a-mess/

I read a few pages of this thread this morning, and I didn't really know whether to laugh or to cry about people like jseadog1 and that other American dude.
I don't mind that people believe in Armstrong's innocence, but please do come up with better counter-arguments than something about fictional characters in the sky.
What you can say is that there's no new evidence in the indictment from USADA, so basically the case is the same as always, not much new to discuss ... yet. |
