I did my best! It's crazy how we've both eclipsed 300 points and absolutely dwarfed the totals of both of the other semifinalists these last two weeks. But that's the luck of the draw! Your team is hitting its highest gear at the perfect moment.

The end result is mostly disappointing despite the success all year. On one hand, it was nice to get back into the top 3 after a few poor years. On the other though, 3rd is ultimately lower than where my team was most of the year. I genuinely believe I had the best team this year. Not claiming that was anything but luck, but we finished top of the standings with the most points for, and I felt like that was actually underselling the total value because I had so many viable bench pieces most of the season. Then we put up nearly 600 points across the four playoff weeks, but it wasn't enough.
I kept trying to use that depth to improve the team for the playoff push, but I just couldn't get people to bite on trades. Maybe I was unintentionally underbidding, but I hoped for more negotiations than full rejections. I guess the reality of a ten person standard league is that the majority of teams have at least a solid starting lineup when healthy, so nobody really wants to trade top guys for multiple pieces. In the end it was poor asset management from me though, having to just drop guys like Tank Dell (RIP) and Hopkins because I didn't get deals through before activating people from IR.
I also struggled a bit with lineup decisions in important games. The issue with having so much depth is it often meant having guys rot on my bench rather than being traded for pieces I could actually start. And I struggled to decide when to start the hot hands versus the guys with high expectations. Breece Hall vs. Chuba Hubbard was the big one. I rotated them in and out all year, and it always seemed like whoever I left on the bench went off that week.
In the end though, I just have to just tip my cap to Mre. I got the top seed, mostly got the best production I could have in the semifinals, but I just fell short to a powerhouse that got very hot at exactly the right time. That's (fantasy) football. Congratulations!
Thank you jdog for running this as always! Hope to learn from my mistakes next year and finally bring back the championship for the first time in a decade!
