Congrats to Caspi and Eden on the stage wins.
On our behalf the last two stages were mediocre at best. Paulus in the break in stage 4 was only our second best option (Gall being the obvious one) and then getting beaten by Serrano for the KoM (though 2nd and 3rd in this ranking isn't too bad) and getting 6th on the stage is somewhat disappointing. No one in the break in stage 5 is just bad, though Galls 8th place from the pack is okay. Now getting any GC points is out of reach given our abysmal TTing. So everything to hope for is Paulus getting those 3 KoM points more than Serrano in the penultimate stage (if there is any bump big enough to offer some points) to get the jersey, which means that if we get someone in the break it will probably be Thompson ...

Hehe, the most amazing sprint train I've ever seen by Tafjord. Eilers bringing out Waersted with a huge gap right before finish.
Narrowly getting a 5th place. |

Decision day! Here's still hope that Berhane can keep his top 5 rank after the TT. He has done well so far, would be a shame if a 21km TT destroys all his prior days and my goal

Very nice final stage from Kristin and Canty. Someone had to be 11th, not bad for O'Connor but so close to more. It's weird to turn up for a race like this and be solid, team's turned a corner this year/

First of all, thanks WJ for all the reports
Congrats to hillis for another dominant TT win from BVM.
Keizer doing a big jump as expected, great result for Hilcona!
Nice to see Berhane holding on to the podium as he was clearly the best climber.
For us it couldn’t go any better. Letting other teams control for us and then finishing it off in the TT

Those 15 seconds gained could be really, really valuable for Berhane in the end.

I told you
Indeed, these 15" between him and the chasers on stage 5 were decisive for a Top 5; he'd just have finished outside otherwise. Well done to secure the podium, wasn't too optimistic tbh!
Obviously a great job by Chiarello - always keeping up, never overextending himself, and then simply securing the GC win in the TT. Well done! He may not be the division's best climber - but he sure is the best stage racer.
Great result also for Hilcona, maybe the last really big race by Keizer! Good work to put himself into the position he was in prior to the TT - and then his old legs just did what they had to do!
Thanks for the entertaining reports, and congrats to all who did well (including P4E, with Taaramäe almost getting that podium!)

3rd in GC, 2nd in Points. I can live with that!
Thanks for the reports and congrats to Laurens and Chiarello!

Congrats to all those coming away with successes and a big thank you to wj for the reports. Lots of fun to watch the GC battle and all the breakaways.
Somehow we'll count this a success for us as well. Alarcon with a big surprise 2nd on Stage 2 is extremely helpful when there really was nothing to expect from him or the entire team. Betancourt with some good breakaways and Trillini finding the top ten in a sprint are good too.
Reguigui and Siriwardena did exactly what they were supposed to on Stage 7 and why we sent them here. Sadly... they forgot they also had to climb reasonably well. Regardless, the idea was sound and we know what is needed for next year's trip to Austria (don't go?)

Yes!! Best race of the season so far
Very thrilled with; Kritsky's top-5 in GC, winning the team GC, and of course Jaramillo's stage win!
Thanks for the congratulations as well

First, Thanks for all the reporting.
Sooooooo, if we look just at the position of our riders it may not be most satisfying. Though top 10 with Elosegui and Schelling also not so bad. Both on 1 and 2 at the U25 standing. So thats great.
For Elosegui its the same as in many races, its just the last bit whats missing to make him constanltly a top 5 or podium candidate. A few seconds behind but with 25 years we are sure he will do great in the future.
So overall, again not a highlight but a solid tour for us. I stll hope we can set a real highlight this season.

Not ideal to finish just outside our top 5 goal, but it's our fault to not use our number, especially in 2nd stage. Still, some satisfying points, all in all.
Thanks for the report and congrats - again - Laurens!

Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team can be proud of that mountain victory, it looked like a real attrition climb where every attack could cost the stage. Niu isn't strong enough for these kinds of mountains, so seeing Riabushenko put in top 5s is nice! Thank you again to Ivar for the report. One day you'll be able to put on more than a star for Babymetal Cycling |
