@Fabianski I knew this road is long and hard but I can see the end of it. And I'm very happy to see the regional riders emerging. For me that's more important than promotion.
No loan-ins either so I do feel the future looks bright. I'm looking forward to see Huertas, Rojas, Rivera and Jimenez Retana next year. It's also true Herrera has a horrendous potential but he's a serviceable guy.
@redordead Thank you. I am pleased how the team develops and I do hope our core region riders will see results in the future.
@liefwarrior I have high hopes KHJ will keep us afloat while I finish the first part of my development plan.
@TheManxMissile Jensen is here to keep us entertained while I finish building the regional fellows. And I must say I am quite proud of how things are going so far.
We are boasting 5 national champions within our ranks, 2 of whom have won the double, both on the road race and at time trial. It is only appropriate then to celebrate their performance with distinctive jerseys to highlight these excellent achievements within the peloton. Unfortunately, Jason Huertas and Henry Antonio Rojas are on loan, therefore they’ll be unable to enjoy them this year, unless the teams they are riding for this season decide to adopt our design. If they’ll get the chance to wear these special jerseys this year or on other future occasion remains to be seen, until then, here are the designs our team manager came up with to celebrate the outstanding national champions of the team.
I only can second the others. You're building a really nice regional core (though there probably aren't enough race days for all your talents) and have some nice captains for the results. I'm intrigued to see how this combination will pay out for you.
Due to conflicting schedules, pressing issues vying for attention and just plain laziness at times our news outlet went into radio silence. With the lifting of much of these from the shoulders of our principal reporter it is time to get back on track and polish this medium to a shine. So, without further ado, let’s see where it leads us from here.
Three years ago we took the first steps on a rocky, steep path, a road that demanded patience, offered frustration as a side dish and might reward with a sense of deep satisfaction. We embraced the challenge and continued diligently to build this project, although there were times when it felt like burning everything to the ground. Entering the fourth year in our team’s life we’ll analyze the steps taken in the past years and look with hope at the growth and potential rewards that sprang from our planted seeds.

John Jimenez Retana is the future of sprint for our team, or so it seems. Not the most impressive physically he perhaps could compensate his apparent fragility with speed, recovery and racing savvy. Only time will answer these question, but we are proud of another rider whose cycling history parallels that of the team.

Erick Herrera was the first signing of our team, back in 2021, that involved a transfer fee. He proved to be a selfless teammate and one of the most reliable riders within our ranks, earning the trust of the team and of our manager. He topped his tremendous work last season by winning the national road race of El Salvador.

We end with a slew of riders who have only a year under their belts with our team. The exception is Gabriel Francisco Rojas who started in 2022 with our team as a stagiare. These youngsters also hold some bragging rights, Gabriel Francisco Rojas won Nakhon Ratchasima Trophy and Bredio Ruiz a stage at Baltic Chain Tour last season.
The maxed riders should add some good depth to your team and the lvl 3s look ready for some solid domestique work. Maybe this time I'll be able to take one of your riders on loan.
As others have said, a very solid core of home-grown regional riders coming through is always nice to see
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant." [ICL] Santos-Euskadi | [PT] Xero Racing
@redordead Yeap, quite a lot of stats gain. We suffered so far from depth scoring, but I guess it was to be expected while building the region. I do hope we manage to improve in depth scoring this season.
@SotD I am starting to see the end of the tunnel now. The team is shaping nicely around our core region.
@Ulrich Ulriksen Those breakaway victories delighted me greatly. I'm keeping my fingers crossed we are keeping at it. And will improve the training in this area.
@jandal7 I must admit I can finally feel a bit proud about the core region. And although there are some disappointing moments to be had along the way I will definitely keep at working within this focus region.
Can only echo the others, awesome amount of young riders you're developing there! And it looks like you even had enough leaders to secure a late promotion due to disbands, congrats
Looking forward to see how you shape your 2024 roster around your young core, should be a fun (and busy) transfer season for you!
Once more we found ourselves promoted to the PCT, which in itself is a good thing, but it came with a deconstructing and rebuilding of the transfer strategy set initially in place. However, as it is said, adapt or die.
We begin with a nod to the team’s philosophy and its main focus, developing the Costa Rican cycling in particular and the Central American in general. Therefore it comes as no surprise that 2 young riders, Dylan Roberto Jimenez and Donovan Ramirez, from our home country, found a welcoming hearth at Manada Coyote. The team manager has some experience under his belt already and he is most eager to continue building on the number of home grown talent. We are certain Dylan and Donovan will thrive under his guidance.

2 more young riders join the Costa Rican pair, although they are past their neo-pro year. Bredio Ruiz rejoins the team after the negotiations of a new contract didn’t lead anywhere. A stage winner at the Baltic Chain Tour and national road champion of Panama Bredio’s demands at the end of the season were seen as outrageous and despite the team manager’s efforts to convince him that such financial gains would not be met on the free market the rider left the team. Only to be back now, to continue his development within our ranks, on a more realistic terms. Brandon Rodriguez was one of the team’s transfer targets last season, but it was a match not meant to be. It is now, since an agreement between DK Zalgriris and Manada Coyote was reached, and for a fee of 150,000 Brandon will ride for our team next season.

We cannot end our developing chapter without presenting George Peden. He comes to our team on loan, due to some financial pieces needing to be moved for us during this transfer period. That doesn’t mean he will discover an unfriendly atmosphere here. On the contrary, we are always happy to welcome such developing riders and as seen in the past it is a very pleasant feeling to meet during the races with old acquaintances, cyclists who include our team’s name in their learning process.

We benefited from some strong mountain leaders in the past, but I am afraid it is no longer the case. However, the team now has a core of home grown such riders and we rely on strength in numbers. We might not scare anyone before a race, but, perhaps, we would surprise some. Bolstering that number is Harold Tejada, who we believe is a solid rider, and Jefferson Alexander Cepeda, who is not equally impressive, but who our team manager believes was too easily discarded in the past and deserves to continue developing his talent to full potential.

Remember our first PCT season? Well, we would rather forget it as well, except the fact that Jonas Ahlstrand took the division by storm and won the individual rankings. We would certainly like to see that again. No, not the rel;egation part, but winning the individual rankings again. Without sinking as we already said it. For that purposes, with high hopes in our minds and hearts, Bryan Coquard enters the scene. Bryan joins Manada Coyote in a monster deal that saw Kristian Haugaard Jensen, Luis Enrique Lemus Davila and Joao Gaspar leaving, with a check of 1,200,000 in one of their pockets, for ELCO – ABEA. Would such a move pay off? Only the future has that answer, but for certain we are more optimistic about our chances in receiving a positive response.

In order to survive we cannot put our eggs in just one basket, so one very important target during this transfer period was Jay McCarthy. With the departure of Kristian Haugaard Jensen the team was left with a hole within its squad, a hole that needed to be filled. After a long, long, frustrating, long, stressing time the Australian is finally part of our team and he is not seen as only a filling, but an improvement. As in the case of Bryan Coquard there are a lot of expectations tightly bonded to his arrival and that might mean high pressure on the rider. Still, again, we ride on high hopes now and until racing starts it’s just a blissful time around here. Pressure, yes, but we do bring help to relieve t it as well. After his sacking Sean McKenna popped into the attention of our team manager and we are happy to welcome him to the team. The sense of excitment is palpable around this signing, because it is believed Sean would not only be able to help McCarthy on the hills, but our mountain riders too.
So, let us welcome these riders to the team and let us enjoy this period of excitment while it lasts!
Lots of pressure on the shoulders of Coquard and McCarthy, but boy are those some shoulders to have! It's going to be a good year, i feel it for you, and with a ton of local talent still coming along. Exciting times indeed!
Coquard is the best sprinter in the game, and I just hope that turns into points for you. It should, but I'm always wary. Having McCarthy too as well as a lot of newly developed depth should help. Even though he had a slow PT season, McCarthy did great in PCT last time through on the same game engine, so I'm hopeful it'll be just fine.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy
@TheManxMissile We definitely rely on Coquard and McCarthy, but I am proud of building my focus region. And whatever the outcome this season I am not going to stir away from keeping that focus, although frustrating at times it is more rewarding and fun for me playing the game in this way. Exciting times indeed!
@Laurens147 We meet again! We certainly do battle again, as I began to expect since we started the same year and did so throughout the seasons. The building of the region gives me great joy and hopefully our battles will include more local riders from my part.
@baseballlover312 I am hoping for a similar season for Coquard as Ahlstrand had with us in PCT. And if that comes to be and McCarthy pulls his weight I am hopeful we would avoid relegation. So far, on paper, I believe we're looking good.
@quadsas I am happy to have Big Brandon within my team's ranks and to bolster our focus region. Thank you for this deal!
@SotD I couldn't miss Donovan, could I? I do hope Coquard enters his beast mode. If not, well, it was worth a try.
@redordead We do have an untested lead-out train, but there's an entire season ahead to grease those wheels. Well, not the entire season since they need to handle faster the ropes of sprinting than, say, October.

LOS COYOTES
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME
Our team manager doesn’t like things coming easy to him. Well, actually, he would welcome with open arms and enjoy such things for certain, but he does remember more clearly challenges that demand a tribute of sweat, some disappointments and no small amount of frustration in order to render a profound feeling of satisfaction. Such a challenge is Manada Coyote project, or the formerly known Volcanica – Fox cycling team. True, we can name the team ABBA as well, since this project reminded our team manager of a football team from his home country, which some long time ago was nicknamed ABBA, because it journeyed between the first 2 divisions often (Divizia A being the first league then and Divizia B being the second). Manada Coyote might fit that bill, with a journey up and down that would worry to great extent a patient with heart palpitations if it was represented on a graphic similar to an EKG (read here CT to PCT to CT to PCT again). 3 years in the making, entering the 4th, this cycling project ticked all the boxes for our team manager, disappointments, frustration, head-to-the-desk, being on the brink of abandonment, but most of all, satisfaction. This is beginning to show on the representations within our team. For instance, but by no means unintentional, we highlight the Costa Rican riders first. Manada Coyote boasts 9 riders from our home nation, who represent 36% of our squad. Sure, the aim is to reach at least 50%, but since we worked hard so far we believe the team is on the right track and we will see half of our riders hailing from Costa Rica in the future. And, why not, a national team representing us at the World Championships?

LET'S LOOK AROUND
32% of our riders meet the regional focus criteria set in stone for our team, which raises our percent to 68 when it comes to that particular focus. Of course, there is no secret here, the obvious aim is 100% or at least 90%. And, once again, we do believe, to an almost fanatical extent, that the team would reach its aim in the future. The only question remaining, would that happen in the CT division, the PCT one or, fingers crossed, in the PT?

A LITTLE BIT NORTH
We are moving a little further north. Not much, because we do know how one particular wealthy occupant of North America treated the Central part of the continents (not that we did not have riders from there). It’s just a historical link, a very, very old one. When we share the line of Aztec, Olmec and Maya history we can share some cycling ground as well. Sure, there is only one such rider within our team, but we are proud to have him. We are also certain that a certain rider coming up the U23 ranks would render a fierce bidding battle during the upcoming transfers. We are not the ones to hide our intention here, we will be there, but we must ask ourselves... „There can be only one?”

GOING SOUTH
In the words of the great Bruce Dickinson, of the famed Iron Maiden, spoken during a concert in Monterrey, Mexico (another connection?) „Every time we go south of the border, the harder it fuc...g gets!” Well, he was talking about a different border than the one we are crossing and the craziness we’re referring to took place only during the transfer season and not at some crazy border control. We always relied on our southern counterparts to boost our team because, in the end, they do have more cycling pedigree, more talent and potential. But we are doing this only because the language barrier is no barrier at all and our young riders can learn from more experienced riders. And we are doing it only to the extent it makes sense, for building the future of our team and meeting our dreams and goals.

ACROSS THE OCEANS
Before Christopher Columbus there was Amerigo Vespucci and before him there were Vikings. Still, the later went further up North, but we didn’t shy away from the descendants of Vikings in our brief history. It must have been really cold up North, and although we have, thanks to our sponsor, close to our hands plenty of beer it might not be enough to face all of those cold, long, cold nights. So, we move a little bit southern and warmer this season. True, Ireland might not be recognized for warm, sunny beaches where you enjoy a cold beer, but what we’re hoping for is that the 2 Irishmen together with 1 Frenchman and 1 Australian might light up our scoreboard this season. Hell, we hope they light that board to the point where we need eclipse glasses to read it. If not... well... we can maintain our main goal and keep enjoying the feats of our team without shining up and stealing all the headlines.
