Thank you for the report, and congratulations on the win, bbl!

And what a nice comeback that was from Anderberg too! Very happy with that, suddenly he's back in contention regarding the GC and a top 5 finish. Cool to see him be aggressive too. He probably had to pay for it at the very end, not able to go with the front group, but that was a good try. Well done!

And as the report points out, it's very, very close, though, meaning he has to make the most of the next stage as well, as I fear the hilly stage. Super overperformance from Kaislavuo too, backing Anderberg well and finishing together with him.

Decent ride from Mestric in the breakaway. All I can ask for is that we try something, so I'm happy with that. I'm sure the GC will change a lot more before the end.

Congrats on the win bbl Smile

Quispe is a legend and he once again proves it. Tales will be told and songs will be sung about him long after we're all gone.

Well, I certainly can't blame Trentin there. He tried to make the race selective and attacked a bunch of times. But it just wasn't happening, and he couldn't get enough riders to go with him to build a gap. I really thought today would have more attrition than yesterday, but I guess the tough day yesterday made the pack less aggressive.

Ultimately, I can't be unhappy with a second place on the stage. Nice few points to be had. Also will be cool to see Trentin in the points jersey. Most importantly, the time bonus at least means he gains a little bit and is now tied for first on time.

Quite worried about the top 5 goal now though as none of the puncheurs, climbers, and hybrids that were still around yesterday were dropped today. Looking around, Trentin is the weakest of those around him uphill. His hill stat is good, but his mountain is really lacking. Passing Van der Haar is probably not gonna happen, but more importantly, a bunch of guys behind have a better mtn/hill combo and good easily overtake Trentin on a good day given how tight everything is. I mean, he could lose minutes and drop out of the top 25 if it's selective enough.

Guys like Dulanjana and Senni are surely the favorites now. How they managed to make it over the cobbles, the latter with <60 in that stat, I have no idea. But having done so, they're clearly the most advantaged on the hill stage tomorrow. I think mountain will play a real role given the length of the climbs, and that is good for them and bad for us. We'll just have to cross our fingers and hope we can hang on.

Congrats Maxime on the win, and thanks for the reports thus far.

The cobbles are over and we are much further back in the GC than we were hoping for. Looks like another poor race for us. Can only hope that we get some luck in the coming stages.

Congrats to maxime and thanks for the report Smile

The more likely scenario, I fear, is that Hadi and Vliegen get kicked in the teeth tomorrow and Stallaert and Lampaert lose a ton of time the day after and we end up with little to show for.

This was true for Hadi unfortunately, but Vliegen held on. If he's treated as a GC or even just stage contender tomorrow, he has a major opportunity. If I don't overlook anyone, he's the best puncheur of those still within reasonable distance of the lead. He's been very attentive so far, so who knows.

Stallaert was overall pretty disappointing here. Never close to the front on cobbles, nowhere in any of the sprints. Both he and Lampaert are still in the Top 20, but I doubt it will stay that way tomorrow. So it's really up to Vliegen to save this race for us.

Thanks for the report LLS. Though if I may have one request, it would be nice to occasionally have a bigger picture of the main group. Especially when those attacks kept flying, we could only see the first 3 or 4 riders of the peloton so it was tough to know how many riders were still in there and where one's leaders are. Other than that, high quality as always Smile

Back-to-back podiums for Altur? Where has this been all season? Got to be careful i don't get my hopes up ahead of Battenkill, and i'm still confident he'll throw away the Top10 GC.

Great stuff from Owen in support and for Major to make a Top20 finish. The positive signs ahead of the CT.

Thanks for the report. Nice little stage for us in terms of GC action, and a nice win for Carrefour!

Having both Kump and Riesebeek in good GC positions here is very nice, although stage 5 is always interesting to watch unfold because a lot of random things can happen when it comes to splits.

Quiet stage for the team, but I fear the cobblers will drop off after the hilly stage and we will lose all our good positions.

Opportunity missed for Anderberg and the other cobblers to get gaps on the stronger riders thinking of the hilly stage. Looked like one where it was difficult to make attacks stick.

Well done to Carrefour, and thank you for the report, LLS!

Nice stage. We managed to keep our two "cobblers" in decent GC spots. Although they'll probably fall off in the hilly stage. So I hope to see Gaudu and/or Le Gac in the breakaway there.

bbl was certainly right about the climbers having better chances on this stage, but I'm very happy with Vliegen's performance. 5th in the GC is awesome and somehow Lampaert managed to hang on for 15th as well. With Stallaert and even Hadi contributing some GC points, plus the team classification thanks to Khederi's second solid ride in a short time, we collect a good haul of points. Stallaert was a disappointment all things considered, but the team stepped up. Maybe he can redeem himself with a nice sprint result tomorrow, but either way, I'm happy with this race.

Congrats Ollfardh, a surprising win I'm sure Grin

Well, that sure went much much worse than I possibly could have expected. A guy with 59 cobble is gonna win a stage race with 2 cobbles stages. Not much we can do about that.

Not much to say. Obviously we failed our top 5 goal and then some. Trentin's lucky to be in 16th. It was clear that every cobbler was screwed early, so really only disappointing that Trentin was so much worse than a few comparable cobblers despite having better hill. But in the end, we're talking about minor placings here anyway.

Thanks for the report!

Awesome to see Gaudu performing this way, also loving what Pomoshnikov did. Cobbled stage races are awful this season though, while cobbled classics work wonders...

Banana DAVID GAUDU!!! Banana

4 years?! 4 years it takes us to finally win a KOM jersey! Grin

We did exactly as I hoped we would, sent both Gaudu and Le Gac in the breakaway on the hilly stage. There was a moment when I thought Gaudu might win the stage as well, but if I had to pick one thing King of the Mountains was always my choice Pfft

Poljanec and Mestric both held on to top 35 spots in GC and Gaudu sneaked into top 50. If we can keep these places tomorrow along with the KOM points, then this suddenly becomes an unexpectedly great scoring race for us Smile

While I cannot be upset with getting third in the GC, there might need to be some need to reasses what the identity of the Benelux Challenge should be, it being won by a rider with sub 60 cobble should not be it that's for sure.

TheManxMissile
Wow, did not expect that hill stage to be so OP vs the two cobbled days, but here we are. Somehow Altur working away at a Top10GC result is just miraculous! Not helpful in a relegation fight, but noteworthy as it could be his best result of the year at this rate.
