Int. Osterreich Rundfahrt - Discussion

Hmm. Not a great stage for us. Unfortunate that it wasn't Ndayisenga but Uwizeyimana in the group, and then really disappointing that he wasn't able to keep up on the climb - that shouldn't have happened. A shame that so far, he doesn't really make use of his opportunities. Oh well, I hope that either Valens or Eyob go for the breakaway tomorrow.

Congrats maxime on the win and thanks for the nice reports!

Good to see Poljanski in the break and getting a good result. Hopefully he'll fully commit to the KoM for some extra points.

Great to see Munoz in the right breakaway. Seems like he attacked just at the wrong time and wasted his energy there, but a fifth place is something I guess. At least we won't leave Austria without any points Smile He's also sixth in KoM, but to remain in the top-8 and score some extra points I suppose he'll need to be in the break again and score on smaller KoM's, but with his weak punching abilities that probably won't happen.

Congratulations to Carrefour and thanks for a great report, LLS!

My man proved me wrong, scoring two extra KoM-points Pfft

Nice to see him in the break, but clearly the peloton wasn't having it today. Great win for Guldhammer, congratulations to bbl!

And it somehow manages to get even worse! Warchol owes us after this shockingly bad race.

Congrats bbl.

And suddenly De Plus is back when you least expect him..

Oomen did not gain any time and with only the TT left the top 5 seems to be out of reach.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I swear that every time I see Rasmus win a race for us it's special. It's been very gratifying to see him use his advantages in hill, acceleration, and sprint against the other top climbers in these types of stages. Here, he had Warbasse beside him until the final climb and then measured his attack perfectly. He's loved the hills this year, and luckily we planned him with that in mind. Of course, this stage win is especially awesome compared to his PT and C1 successes because it comes with a decent chunk of HC points too.

Those bonus second put us as the clear favorites for 2nd now, which is great. We're also tantalizingly close to our win goal, only 17 seconds behind, but that 17 seconds might as well be 20 minutes because we have no chance of gaining time on Pluchkin in a time trial. Making a mountain stage race a win goal was always a mistake with Pluchkin in the division, but we've done as much as we possibly could, and Guldhammer has delivered in every possible way to put us in the position we are now. Can't worry about failed goals right now. Can only think about points and wins, and we're getting more than our share of those right now.

Another great result of today is that we managed to take the points jersey! 1st-5th to Pluchkin was enough of a difference on the stage. We have a real chance to win that jersey now, but only if Pluchkin doesn't end up in a scoring position in the TT. Of course, I was gonna be rooting against Pluchkin there anyway, so that will be another reason. Pfft

Sprint stage tomorrow, then the time trial. Let's buckle down, stay out of trouble, and finish this one strong.

Thanks for the report!

Survived this stage without time loss, Uran is better in the mountains than these light uphill finishes.

Congreaz to Danske Bank.
Although I guess the GC win is secured for Pluchkin and Guldhammer might also be a safe 2nd, still a lot of interesting battels in top 10, to make a trilling ITT .

Alarcon seems to be alergic to podiums this race Pfft

But at least it's a few stage points scored. Looking forward to losing places on the final stage TT. Bonus seconds would have helped, but it is what it is.

This is a very good season for Carlsberg - Danske Bank. Really envoye seeing Guldhammer this good. Congratulations on the win!

Good by us to put Laengen in the breakaway, eventhough he seemed to be on a bad day, being completely anonymous up front.

Thank you for another report, LLS!

Nice and quiet for us in the last three stages. So far so good. TT will be decisive for our hopes.

Leknessund is having quite the season, going to be interesting to see how Quad decides to max him out.

Well that was nothing Grin Unfortunate to not have been in the breakaway, but Perera was probably too highly rated as a sprinter. Two 5th places from bunch sprints are honestly pretty solid, even if only one resulted a few points. Tomorrow will be nothing again for us, but this was still a good race. Can't be mad at coming away with a stage win here for sure. We were always going to tank our PpRD here, and leave with a bit more than we could have expected. Thanks for the nice reports throughout the race LLS!

This is one of those stages where I'd want the reporter to do a do over. The breakaway winning is not wrong, but not by that amount. I noticed sometimes the AI just spazzes out and doesn't chase at all, which I guess is what happened here.

I mean this happens in GTs as well at times IRL, I don't think it's a scenario that's weird enough to consider going for a do over on ngl.

In a GT indeed. In a normal stage race, where the course is pan flat and very short (like here 130 km) and with quite a lot of sprinters present, this is a very rare occasion. But on pcm20 it feels like the norm.

Too bad Manarelli only gets eighth when he could have been second. At least he got his first point of the season Smile

Thanks for the report LLS, and congratz to Leknedeeznuts (?)

Agree to disagree. Also this is a 7 day race not a GT.

Wouldn’t consider a do-over of a non GC related stage tbh.

It wasn’t surprising to see given a lot of sprinter didn’t have the fresh depth needed to chase down a breakaway.

Just wondering............
Who should be able to decide when a stage is considered strange enough to make a do-over. Think it very harsh on those who won ain't it.
