The most predictable stage winner of the entire season.
Quite curious which effect the big climb in the middle of the next stage will have...
Would love to see Sergis take that KoM.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Whenever I need a good TT result from a good TT rider they fuck up BIG time, and then I get a random “good” result when we have no need for it.
Vlatos horrible all season, Lecuisinier crap in Tasmania and now Ioannidis crap here. He couldn’t even catch Van der Lijke, and drops outside all interesting stuff despite this actually being the first (on paper) good TT for him.
I guess I’ll just have to accept that timetrials in this game is really not worth any time, money or effort. Why even bother to be annoyed with sprints? It works a fucking charm compared to TT’s.

What a race from Phinney so far. Had hoped for a podium from Würtz, but the hill might have been a tad too much for him. Still a quite good result and hopefully he can hang on somewhat in the GC.

The loss in the ITT was about to be expected. The big groups together on the hillier stages were unfortunate as I had hoped to see some gaps there.
The final 2 stages now are vital. De Bie must create gaps to not only getting stage points but also GC points. So far not the race we wanted. |

Another good showing from Aidan, although he came too late to the party and threw the KOM in this. As he was last man standing I guess the moves he made were justified though. Jang was surprisingly weak though. A 76/76 rider should be able to do better here. Ioannidis completely threw away whatever points we could have gotten from this race.
I guess we will just have to be content with riding aggressive. That’s alright though. Can’t complain with the effort.

Nevermind.
Loved to see Zwiehoff ride aggressively though! He'll have even better cards to play with a few more levels under his belt.

Sean "I can`t win any stage" De Bie with at least his second 2nd place here, which is more than he usually does all season.
That said, the team tactic was awful. If he needs to gap weaker riders, he really should have used Barbin/Zardini to do a high pace all day or late into the stage. Instead both go into the break with Zardini even being in between spending all his energy for nothing...
And it`s 2/2 lost sprints against Bobrdige now, something De Bie normally should be able to win then as well at times.
8th GC is looking a lot better now but still a few spots too low seeing he is easily the superior puncheur here with his 84 hill. |

Solid ride by Tvetcov. Now into the top 20 which would be another very solid result next to Eislers' performance earlier.
Now up to the final stage. It might be foolish but i have some minor hopes that it could be a larger group sprint too... |

Not the stage result we wanted (also with regards to the green jersey), but the GC still looks very good. Also Rickaert, you have a battle to win!

That stage was awesome for our GC. Hope we can consolidate this position in the final stage.

All in all a good race for the team, particularly Wirtgen and Van der Lijke. A pity to be so close to 2nd though, and 'just' 4th. Given how the race played out, a bit of a missed opportunity to not podium.
Thanksnfor the reports!

Very solid result from Jang to take 2nd on the final stage to salvage a poor race. Still not a good race, but we didn’t expect so either. The only thing that bothers me is that Aidan didn’t try to fight for the KOM and Ioannidis had two horrible stages. He looked really good to fight for the top 20 atleast, but dropped to 35th. Obviously not a big disaster points wise, but I’d like to see me greeks perform better soon.
Thanks for the reports, and congrats to the successive teams, in particular Isostar of course who really looks set for a massive season.

Van der Poel is just a lovely rider. Congrats on the stage win, Heine!
Dominant race from Phinney, congrats to Croatia too.
For our sake it was good so see Würtz trying in the break. Stage 7 turned out to be a bit too hard for our guys and we had hoped Würtz would have scored better from the TTs, but all in all decent enough in a race with a quite weak team present.
Thanks for the reports!

Congratulations to Isostar on winning P-N! Nice to see Bobridge this high up as well, if he performs like this all season P:A should stay in PCT
Great reports, red.

I'm happy that Ganna tried to improve his GC position in that break, and that he didn't pay for it dearly in the end after getting caught this early.
Overall, 30th for Ganna is still pretty nice, with two more Top 50s to add some points alongside his two in the U25 (and the handful along the way) and Ben Zwiehoff's first ever earned career point from the KoM classification!
Congrats to Croatia and thank you redordead!
And a special shoutout to Tom Pidcock in 19th there! What's our all-time record for lvl1 rider results in PT races (excluding breakaway luck)?

De Bie is so useless... Why trying to improve when being the best puncheur... Not even trying today is disappointing.
No 0 pointer but still disappointing 8rd used.
Thanks for the reports though. Was a nice read and contests Croatia. Deserved win. A pity that the TTs got that important with the hills rather anonymous. |

Geoghegan Hart and Powless finishing 5th and 6th in their first maxed Paris - Nice is pretty damn awesome. Also cool that 34 year old Kangert still manages to deliver solid points as 15th. And I should mention Konrad (23d) and Vervaeke (32nd) as well. All in all a great Paris - Nice for Gazelle.
Congrats to Croatia and Phinney. The guy is a machine now.
And wonderful job reporting

A good final stage. Sergis active in the hunt for KoM points to defend his 5th place. Would have preferred if he actually tried to join the morning break but he kinda lucked into it this way. 4th on the day is also great - more was unlikely anyway as he doesnt have a good sprint.
The break making it was fairly good for us eventhough Eislers would have got a good placement in the sprint. But it secured his position in the points classification as van der Lijke wasnt able to overtake him.
Generally it was the first good race of the season for Evonik. The Eislers gamble paid off quite nicely and Tvetcov delivered a top 20 GC result. Couldnt hope for much more.
Thank you for good reports and a nice pace
