Pretty unexpected yet very welcome win in Switzerland I was quite sure Aregger or Page would take the title. The latter didn't even show up, though, and I guess being able to play multiple cards with Lienhard and Stocker finally paid off.
It's great to see Stocker win, actually, as he's been a very important rider in our sprint train for two years now, while never being able to get a great result on his own. He'll definitely say with us - and I'm sure he'll get a great jersey
Competing for the TT win will still take some years, though, but if our sponsors decide to further invest in Swiss cycling talents, we might arrive there one day
Reinhardt did a good job in German as well; the competition was really strong, and he didn't have his usual train, so taking 4th is OK. Krieger seems to have found out what Pogacar gets for breakfast, amazing end of the season for him (and Tryg)! Congrats!
And congrats as well to cio for the TT title!

Congrats on the Swiss jersey Fabianski, as long as it goes to a national team I will be happy (though not as happy as if we had taken it home )

Thanks @Bushwackers
Those late attacks like in Kiwiland are really nasty if you don't have a full squad to chase them down... But given that Scully wouldn't have won anyway I don't care that much On the other hand, it's really not Bewley's season... Even a legend is hit by decline some day.

Hopefully that won't be that big a problem with the sprinters next year. New Zealand, Switzerland, Milan San Remo, ...
Hopefully this will be better next year. |

Happy to see Suter attacking in Swiss, even though it was futile. Hope to see that kind of move from him for many years to come.

So close. Would have been awesome to have Dombrowski in the national jersey again.

Can’t believe that the leading NZ team doesn’t get more voting power with the cycling federation to keep things on a tight Mountain-Hill rotation
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Nice stuff by the boys in the US NC, 3rd was always the most realistic expectation and we earned it. Congrats to Croatia on the double and Glanbia on filling the TT podicum.
Now just have to wait for the big one as Frankovic tries to go back-to-back in Croatia.

finally a country where two mountain bikers ride. Phinney was slightly favored for me, but Dombrowski can win a race like this too. It was previously clear that Phinney would win the time trial. This year Phinney won (almost) everything. But: Phinney only has two years left with these values. I'm curious to see how they'll score in the next season. I'm curious about Dombrowski because Madrazo is getting worse. |

So much for a “hilly” French NC.
Is there a chance next season to see which routes we are voting for? Coquard in 8th kinda tells everything.

Not sure any of the routes are really selective enough for my liking, but I figured that was intentional to give outsiders a shot?

To be fair, the Top 3 favorites, the guys with the best hill stats, were actually the Top 3 in the race. Acceleration seems to be pretty valuable on that stage, but that is an important stat for puncheurs after all. Coquard in 8th is weird, granted, but in general and also looking at other races (Konrad in Austria, Pons in Luxembourg, Borges in Portugal), I think that stage works pretty well.

I think we have often see (reduced) bunch sprints on profiles with just an uphill at the end. But if the final hill is longer, it could again favor the climbers - I guess it's not easy to find really something for puncheurs. The best hilly races were probably the long ones with a lot of bumps, but as the NC routes should be kept short, I'm not sure if it's really possible to have enough selection to have the pure puncheurs up front in the end.

Koretzky seems to have lost his abilities towards end of the season. Does not bode well for 2021 season

NC's are all set routes, and have been for the last several years. So we all knew exactly the race being voted for. In fact they are in the first post of this very thread, as well as pervious years threads
