This is the best 3 days of racing that my team has done, ever. Period. Absolutely insane. Over 7 years, there's been nothing even close to this. Warbasse with a stage win, then Fabbro wins a classic, then Warbasse holds onto GC with another podium here. Splitting those two up has paid off beyond a doubt.
Larry calm, cool, and collected again. He let Pinot go and just rode his tempo, letting Keinath do the work as much as possible. I admit that I was a little scared of Keinath here, more so than Pinot. He could have made a big enough gap in a short time, but in the end, Warbasse was able to match him all the way. 3rd on the stage is another great performance, and most, of all, he now should have a clear path towards winning his second stage race GC of the year, somehow. And at the C2HC level too. This man is carrying like 3 of my other leaders on his back.
Honestly, I just have no freaking idea how the hell De Vreese managed to get a top 5 on a mountain top finish. The gradient wasn't high, which helps, but... I mean, how can I defend that? Totally broken to have him scoring here. Shouldn't happen. PCM just likes me this week I guess. I admit it feels good selfishly, as every point matters for my team. But in what world does De Vreese gain minutes on Ranaweera here. I mean, what?
After Eg's amazing ride on stage 3, he faltered more here from the fatigue, and slips a bit on GC. But 16th is still a scoring position, and he stays 2nd in U25. Also did well enough for us to claim the team's classification. Most of all, he did his job early and kept Warbasse in yellow. Great work from him.
Nice to see Pinot get the win after disappointing on stage 3, congrats to Aidan! Not as nice to see Ranaweera waaaaaaay underperform in his home race. Commiserations to sammy.
So the situation: 1st on GC, 1st and 2nd on Point, 2nd on KOM, 2nd in U25, and now 1st in teams. Pretty good. Preeeeeeeeeeeetty good.
No expectations for the final two flat stages except that we don't do anything stupid and stay in yellow. And, if the opportunity arises, maybe we can stay in green too. Why not?

Great to see Saggiorato having two strong mountain days in the same race - a Top 5 is definitely more than I could have realistically hoped for! A bit of a shame he cracked in the end - and absolutely no explanation of how he can possibly finish behind De Vreese (must have had a once-in-a-lifetime-day, that guy ^^), but gaining time on most other Top 10 riders is still a great result.
And for once, Manfredi gets a notable result, too, moving inside the Top 20, while Pernsteiner finishes below par. But well, looking at other guys like Ranaweera or even Marquez, I'm definitely more than happy. Commiserations to those managers; I guess that "climb" really wasn't tough enough for the real mountain goats to shine.
Good to see that everything is still really close in the points standings, meaning that Scully still has a good shot at green with two flat stages to go. Just don't give them away again, please ^^
Mäder being 6th in the U25 standings is a bit disappointing; I guess he should be at least 4th, but well... Instead, we're 3rd in the team standings, which is definitely more than expected in a mountain stage race, so we look to be set to take a decent amount of points home. Fingers crossed that nothing stupid happens on the last two days...
Congrats to aidan for Pinot's redemption, and thanks for the report.

The Keinath one man show continues for us. Great job staying with all the moves except one and taking another second place. For a brief time, I was hopeful but even 2nd in the GC is above our expectations. Henttala and Inkelaar slipping isn't that great though.
Congrats to aidan on the win and thanks for another great report redordead

Ah, redemption! Not all that thrilled with 3rd overall but things can go even more wrong (like with Ranaweera, which is a pity). Warbasse has been in control the whole race and Keinath super consistent.

Welp, AKA back to not sprinting. When we have the leader's jersey, I can't really complain about it. We had a good shot at the points classification though if he had given any effort, so that's a bit of a shame.
Thanks for the report! Hopefully no shenanigans tomorrow and we can take home this win.

Wtf was that... Pretty much the same sprint line-up as in Argentina, where it worked perfectly, and here Scully hasn't participated in two out of two sprints. I can't really complain about our sprint performances in general, but it remains a mystery to me why the same line-up works fine in one race and not at all in the other.
Well, let's forget that one as quickly as possible, but I'm afraid tomorrow won't be any better.

So we go from doing all the work, forming a sprint train and everything, to not competing at all with Selig in 67th place ... did I miss that we had the yellow jersey? This race has not been very kind to us so far. One more chance to do something tomorrows.

Not sure why I still hope for results from Van der Sanden anymore. Let alone results, he's not even in the sprint picture in most races!

Solid result by Bouhanni, in the other sprints he was in contention but seemed far off. Hoping we still getba stage win from this race.

Yes, that was the perfect answer from the team after yesterday's refusal to work! Having Mundle in the break meant we didn't have to do any work at all, and then Scully apparently played it really smart. Sprinting late often works out well in PCM18, and so it did here
A shame he didn't participate yesterday, as he would probably have taken 2nd in the points standings then, but a Top 3 was the goal and he got it. So with 2nd in the prologue, 1st today and 3rd in the points standings, that's already about half the points we hoped to take home.
The second half - and even more - came from an amazing performance by Saggiorato in what was his very last mountain stage race on his prime level, so really well done - 5th is definitely more than expected! It compensates for weak showings in Trentino and Vancouver, though. Manfredi in 17th place is nothing to scoff at, either, while Pernsteiner was once again rather disappointing, finishing 28th.
But to put the icing on the cake, having two riders in the front group against none of Sauber made us climb to 2nd in the team standings, getting us five more unexpected points. I'm still feeling sorry for sammy, who had a really, really disappointing home tour
Congrats nonetheless to bbl on another GC win by Warbasse - promotion is definitely getting very close for you, too! (by the way, wouldn't hurt to finally have another rankings update...) And thanks to redordead for your ever consistent reports

One man carrying the team over seven stages, and he did that with aplomb. The rest need to contribute more though.
Congrats to BBL and thanks for the reports

A good last stage with a lot of attacks and Guillén's best C2HC sprint of the season, but Marquez having the worst week of his Los Pollos career makes us leave with only minor points. Sad story.
Thank you for the reports, red, and congratulations to bbl again

AKA was around but just decided to chill instead. Again, he slips down the points, and it proves he is not fixed, but I'm not gonna let that small thing get me down in what was an awesome race for us.
1st on GC, 5th in points, 2nd KOM, 2nd U25, 1st Teams. Plus stage points/jersey points. At C2HC.
That's a very big haul at a very big time for us. It's been rough relying on AKA and Sinkeldam, and even JJ has been up and down. But we get huge points here combined with Fabbro's win. Major step for us in the promotion fight.
Absolutely phenomenal ride by Larry. Dude has carried use the whole year. Two stage race victories in a season against guys like Pinot and Ranaweera is really lucky. He just has a beast of an engine in the mountains, and when my team uses their strength right, he is so consistent. I never thought after 7 years that stage racing would be what saves my team, but this guy has made himself worth even the craziest fee I gave for him. Interested to see where he ends up in the individual rankings, cause he's been a force.
Thank you to all for your congratulations, and thank you to redordead for the consistently excellent reports!

Have to be thrilled with Kuss' 4th place, Well above his ranking. And a stage win for Keough. But the fact Keough failed to participate in any sprint stopped a good race from being great. Frustrating since many riders who did participate have very similar stats. Maybe the team decided to focus on Kuss. Can live with that.
Thanks for the great reports and congrats to BBl.
