01.02 - 07.02 Tour de Langkawi C2HC
It's time for the first stage race this season and in our team history. What we were expecting? Something! At least. How did it go? Acceptable.
"On flat stages we tried our best, but we have to accept that our sprinters aren't the fastest in CT. King is our leader in those type of races. We are giving him big credit of trust. We just are expecting to see some sort of results in future."

"We are satisfied with Rodrigues still being able to fight with the best. 8th place in the debut in stage racing is very optimistic start. We are really looking forward for next races. We are also hoping to finally get some top 5's! Anacona with (un)lucky 13th spot."
First fully focused flat stage race this season. We didn't have expectations at all after looking at the startlist. And our riders were struggling to do anything. Only three stages, but no breakaway for our team, and the best performance was from our sprint leader, Ben King on last stage - he was classified on 24th place. Which is showing how many great sprinters - better than ours - were in that race. We are hoping for better results next time tho!

"Sadly we didn't score any points in the rankings which is hurting us a lot. At least we gained a lot of experience thanks to this race. We will try to do something more in the next occasions." - dominox said in the interview.
18.02 - 23.02 Volta a Catalunya C1
This was the race where we actually were expecting to see some real nice results. We knew that the race will be tough. We knew that Sepulveda wasn't the biggest favourite. Heck, Rodrigues was! But! How was the race?
The first stages weren't that selective as you could expect. On first mountain stage and that hilly one we had the same scenario. One rider crossing the line to win it, and then a whole bunch of favourites crossing the line together. Of course, some riders were losing time. Like Rodrigues who lost some time on hilly stage and wasn't able to come back from it after all. Either way, the situation was looking very good for us. Eduardo Sepulveda started his season here, and, oh man, how great that debut could be! He started the race pretty well. 12th place at the opening prologue with only 8 seconds losing to the leader. On the next two stages he didn't lose any time to other favourites. Before ITT it was looking really promising!
Stage 2
Close to the mountaintop, several climbers attacked from the peloton. Rodrigues was one of them.

Before an ITT there was the only one flat stage for pure sprinters. Max Losch tried his chances here. He finished on 11th place. Just after top 10. Then on the ITT we had two riders that didn't lost time against other favourites. Our leader Sepulveda, and Parra Bustamente. Eduardo was 6th in GC having only 48" more than leader. Heiner Rodrigo was +1'03" behind. Still ready good performance.
Sepulveda produced really good TT, which we were hoping for. 11th place was awesome. He was 3rd in GC and there was only one stage to follow. Parra Bustamente with decent performance - 44th, but 10th in GC.

Last stage was bitter sweet day for us. Parra Bustamente clearly had the legs for an amazing performance as he was holding himself with the first group of favourites for a long time. While Sepulveda was struggling to hold himself behind that group. Just before the finish it was the other way. It was Bustamente who was struggling to hold and Sepulveda who tried to save some time and not lose more than he already did.

"I can't say we aren't satisfied how the race went, but there are some thoughts "what if?". It could have been our breakout race. Especially with all those amazing riders that were in Catalonya this year. Sepulveda was 3rd in GC and that was already huge achievement. He wasn't one of the favourites, but we knew of what he is capable of. That's why we signed him. It was a really good race for us, as a CT team. We are still waiting for some great stage results, but at least we have won something. Team classification. It isn't something really good, but our depth in team paid of for the first time. I cannot wait for more races!"Edited by dominox on 05-10-2018 11:49
Just found your HQ! Losch probably one of my favourite riders!! (Might have to try and borrow him permanently next season )
But seriously you have a nice squad that could definitely do some damage in the CT!! A nice start to the season for you and I look forward to our battles this season!
A shame Sepulveda was some collateral to Velits on Stage 6 - obviously wanted to beat him but was also cheering for him in Catalunya, magnificent effort from you guys against some top names! 10th, 13th, 19th and 27th all scoring GC points, as well as a couple elsewhere, is an awesome effort and so close to even better.
Hope you give Sepulveda some more C1 outings in this and coming seasons in suiting races, he belongs there If not, I can take him

I was really surprised because of no time difference in the first stages. That helped us a lot with an ITT. Could have been better, but I won't complain about 10th place with someone who wasn't even on the favourites list

Yeah, being 3rd in GC before last stage was a big surprise. And I was hoping for something better than 10th spot, especially after ITT. But like I said above, I won't be complaining about that!
About C1 races... I tried to send Sepulveda where there are some ITT or TTT stages. With only 75 in MO and 76 HI he is not the biggest threat against PCT teams. Heck, even in CT. So sending him to only mountainous races would be stupid. I've taken the risk and he will start when his TT ability will be main key of success. That's why he is starting in Vilnius GP and Herald Sun Tour. He will help us in those races.
Sadly (or not) only other C1 race he is participating in is... Tour of America
22.02 Gisborne GP C2HC
We end pretty decent February with this one day classic. Sadly our team isn't that good in those types of races. So race wasn't good at all. We are waiting for March!
All classic sprint stages. Massive chance for our riders to score some points. If not from final sprints, then from breakaway.
Our surprise result.

"At the end it wasn't the best race for us. Pluciński tried his chances with breakaway on all stages except the first one. He just couldn't find that successful one. And sadly it was the only positive coming from those four stages. At least on stage 1 duo King/Angarita ended in the top 10 which at the end gave them few bonus seconds. If not that, the race would have been a total disaster. Nothing from sprints, nothing from breakaways. Let's hope it will be better in future."
14.03 - 15.03 Tour of East Java C1
Our team had no sprinters for the first stage, but all great mountain train for 2nd. How it went?
Pretty good. Wallays tried to join an early breakaway on 1st stage, but it wasn't successful try. On 2nd one, Arredondo joined an early break. They were sadly caught pretty fast. 42km to go and the group has already been swallowed by the peloton.
At least at the end we again proved we have an amazing depth in our team. Again we weren't the favourites and again we made the previews wrong!

"It was a good idea to go here. Another good GC performance by our leaders. It looks really promising for the rest of the season. This time not a victory, but 2nd place in team classification is a good result."
Hills aren't the strongest part of our team. Either are cobbles. We weren't expecting anything good from this race. We have to focus more on those types of terrain in the next transfers season. So, we have just to participate in those races.
Another race with our riders actually getting mentioned before. We had Rodrigues, Anacona and our sprinters who had troubles before with some good results.
First stage was more than a surprise for us. We knew King was capable of doing a great results, but we surely wasn't expecting this! 2nd place! It is our first podium this season for an individual rider as we previously won team classification already. It was an amazing sprint since Ben was so far behind. He had a long sprint but in the end the needed pace.

Another two stages weren't that successful as you might look at it. Yes, Rodrigues was 10th on stage 3 and Anacona 13th, which are nice results, but could be better. Stage 4 was a disaster. Nothing special, but...

Stage 6 was the most important one. Lemus Davila joined an early breakaway, which wasn't really successful at the end. Last members of an escapees were caught 7km before the finish, but our rider was already struggling in the main group. The remaining kilometres were really excited. Anacona was able to hold to the best wheel he could choose. Kiserlovski was the strongest one, but Winner finished on 3rd place! We didn't have a podium before this race, and now we have three of them! The only thing we don't have is a stage win, or something similar. Soon...
Again the race we weren't expecting nothing exciting to happen. At least all our riders finished in the top 100. And King scored few points. Not much, but every point is important in those classics.

04.04 - 10.04 Grand Prix du Midi Libre C2HC
We started the race with an opening prologue. We were hoping for Sepulveda to not lose a lot of time or even gain some versus riders that would definitely fight for high GC place. We know Sepulveda isn't the best climber, but that's why he is here, in the race where we have two ITT's.
Suprise, surpise! Lawson Craddock with a win! We would never expect a win from a ITT, especially like that! Absolutely impressive performance and what is most important, our first stage win in our team history! We are proud!
Craddock on the podium!

2nd stage wasn't really important for us. We just wanted to save our leaders jersey... Unfortunately, we failed as Hochmann was one of the two riders that were able to take the lead from Craddock.

Moyano in the break!
Important stage for us. One of the two mountainous ones. Sadly both Rodrigues/Parra Bustamente way below their best. Moyano at the end with a really good ride with KOM lead. And Sepulveda. Great ride for his abilities. Also 7th place as a good result too.

Really important ITT. Sepulveda a bit weaker than Craddock. Not a bad tries, but I think we were hoping for a bit better performance from Eduardo. GC was looking great by the way. Final podium was more than possible! But we all know what happened in Sepulveda first race this season - Volta a Catalunya.

Abreu in the early break. Sadly, they were caught pretty early.
Another break, another rider from our team. This time Godoy time. Again, not really successful try.
We were hoping for a bit better performance, but we were happy with not losing a second to other favourites.

Now, that was a great stage for us! We were absolutely suprised and happy!
Firstly, Moyano in the early break trying to fight for final KOM win. It wasn't his day as he wasn't able to score a lot of points. At the end, we were very happy for some TV time in the break!
Parra Bustamente with an impressive and surprising attack! That was more than unexpected...
Unexpected to the point, that he finished 2nd!
Sepulveda fighting to the end for a podium! He lost by 17 seconds!

That was an awesome stage! Another 2nd place in this season, Sepulveda strong enough to hold a 4th place in final GC. We only are a bit unhappy with a Rodrigues/Parra Bustamente GC performance. Sure, Heiner Rodrigo was 2nd, but their both ITT times were really bad. So GC place is also not really impressive. 11th position is acceptable since - like I said - Parra Bustamente finished 2nd on one stage. We also won Team classification. That is a 2nd time this season we achieved that. Team depth is really paying off right now!
