Why aren't Greece eligeble for the B worlds btw? Last season they scored a MASSIVE amount of points, and this year they haven't simply because of a team whose manager isn't present (Georgos Tzortzakis' team).
I would have loved to see Charalampas Kastrantas giving it a go at a hilly route.
I suggested jandal select the nations on the basis of who had the best hill riders.
My feeling is that Contis guarantee all nations a chance to race, so Worlds should just be the best nations for the chosen terrain, with exceptions only for host country, defending champions, and Continental Champions for the TT.
Fair enough. Although it seems like the HI stat is all that matters for some nations, and not the chance for a result.
I really think that Greece should be ahead of Cameroon and Finland, though. Also I believe Brazil should (Chiarello 78MO, 75HI and some decent domestiques).
Nations like Bulgaria, Croatia, Hong Kong, Laos, Romania, San Marino and/or Sweden would also have been better for the WC B I believe.
Also I find it weird that Namibia has gotten a spot, since the best rider, Costa Seibeb, won't be eligeble as he is riding for Project: Africa. Tunesia is also in some sort of the same dilemma, although their second tier is decent.
For the Elite race I really struggle to see why New Zealand should be ahead of Ireland fx.
I guess I can only hope for the race to be ridden in Greece then.
Namibia is an oversight actually, didn't notice it was a P: A rider. Will fix.
NZ is there because of defending champion - otherwise they would be B.
I don't see the Greece argument - their best hill rider is 75 (threshold was 76 really) and he doesn't even ride for a team! Sweden is indeed weird to me but their leader is 75 - I'll give them a reserve now Namibia is gone seeing as they have good depth.
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."
