Very happy with that result, RVH with a good 2nd place proving that the Acc isn't a big factor. And a great race by Kratochvila pulling a great result as well
Bit late to the party, but many thanks for the detailed report for the opening of the CT calendar.
Ups and downs for WCC. San Cristobal regularly has a slightly odd result, not going in favour of the favourites, and the slight mix of favourites and outsiders feature again. If Boily is to end up being 6-10th range in puncheur classics all season long, promotion battle is out the window; need him consistently in the top 5, so 8th a little below hopes/expectations. As long as an abberation rather than the norm, we can cope.
On the positive side, of course loanee Asgreen in the break (although this might have 'blocked' Boily, et al.), and then him hanging on for 20th; didn't count on any points from him this season, so a fab pro debut. RG was our leader last season in these races, and even as 2nd gun improved from 16th (I think) by a couple of places.
Together, 8th, 13th and 20th brings 21 points, so meeting our target of 10 ppRD from C2 races criteria. Overall then a passing grade of B- for WCC for this first outing of the season.
Pardon me for missing this until now. I was absolutely thrilled to see Asgreen attacking right away in his first professional race and snagging a suprise top 20. I only hope he wouldn't have been the domestique Boily needed to get a few places higher. It was great to see him riding well regardless.
