Pretty interesting break. Normally I'd pick Nibbles for the stage win, but he surely got his orders to wait for Aru. Maybe Cummings to do it again?

I can't believe they are letting Nibali up the road, he's one of those guys like Contador, Jrod or Valverde that just don't know when they are beaten and will fight you with everything they've got until you cross that line in Paris.
Even if those riders look out of it you don't want to give them a chance to get back as they will not just take it but outperform what you'd expect and punish you for it and make your life harder until the end of the tour.

Looks like the gap might be being stablised under 6minutes and the break will lose a couple of minutes on the fierce run in to the climb too. Might be enough of a start for the likes of Nibali and a few others in the break too though. |

Nibbles is 9 mins behind Froome anyway so I think theyre controlling the gap because theyre starting to respect GVA not otherwise. |

According to Sky and Movistar they chase Nibali, not GVA.
They have seen at the Giro what he can do when he "smells" the podium. |

Nibbles wants KOM. Predicted pre-Tour he would end up with the polka dots. |

GVA tries to win with PCM tactics
And I guess Nibbs try to take his stage win as fast as possible so that he can support Aru long enough. |

Can't imagine them saying it with straight face. |

I have the feeling that that´s not what his intensions of going on the attack today are

Nice to see some proper racing from the break to liven up the stage before the climb. I'm sceptical about how much damage the Aspin will cause to the GC favourites, but already there are many sub-plots in this Tour that will play out in the classic 'first mountain' scenario. Even if not a lot happens in the main field, the break should still provide entertainment!

I doubt anyone would suddenly give Nibali 15 minutes - that would mean he would be 7 minutes ahead of Quintana + Froome. Why risk it? Use a flat domestique and get it over with. Absolutely no reason not to chase somewhat. |

Imagine a breakaway of Cummings, Reichenbach and Simon Clarke... he would spontaneously combust in excitement (hopefully)
