Not the outcome I was hoping for. Let's see what happens in the TTT now.

Well, at least Howard sprinted this time.

That went far better than I expected. Not that it makes much difference to us in the grand scheme of things, what with us having no GC threat |

Wonder if that TTT was just what Phinney needed in his fight for the overall victory. But it will be difficult to keep the leader's jersey on the coming flat stage seeing Mohs only a second behind.
Expected TTT from us, hopefully that allows us to keep trying our luck in attacks/breakaway.
And thanks for the nice pace thinking of the reports in this race as well, SN and Selwink!

Nice to see Venchi winning the TTT with my rider, Damien Howson, in the team.
Will be interesting to see if Phinney can hold on to that lead.

That was a great TTT for our team, 12th in a WT field. If my team would've done like that in Vancouver Sella might would've won the GC there.
Now looking forward to see what my two leaders can do in the next few stages. |

Wow, just one second and Mohs could take yellow for one day

Another missed opportunity to gain some time on Phinney. And now he's going into the hilly stage in the yellow jersey. I guess he has this pretty much secured now.

7th in the TTT Thats about 10 places higher than I thought. Did really everyone send their time-trialers to Italy?
Monsalve in a much better position than I feared now then

Well top 3 was what I asked for, so that is good, but behind Venchi really is not good at all. I had hoped that Spilak could be a few seconds ahead of Phinney by now, not a few seconds behind.
Fingers are crossed, that he loses the yellow on the next stage, to even out the odds a bit.

Missed that this hilly stage was between the TTT and the mountain stage
And what a stage from Trofimov! Suddenly he must fancy himself for the overall win, but Spilak managed to do pretty well in the end, gapping all other GC contenders except for Machado.
And looking at Gesink, his mountain training won't help much if he's this useless on hilly stages, which is a shame.
An expected stage from us seeing the GC riders decided to have a go at it. A pity we missed the breakaway though, but I guess we can't hit it every stage |

Big moment from Trofitruffle not seen this so often from him this year, but that was demonstration of strength.
Still feel Spilak can wake up on the mosquito flat day, he needs to avoid his usual underwhelm mind you!

Decent stuff from Bobridge, definitely. Probably too less to be much of a threat after the mountain stage, but maybe he will at least try to hang. Kinda tricky situation for the AI with Morton as the bigger option for Oz.. Here's hoping both will have ambitions to try something and maybe make the Top-20 here.
Gesink, well. I've already said what might help him to deliver Guess he will bounce back in the mountains though.

Happy to see Gautier show his face, but with him being dropped on Stage 1 it'll make no difference in the overall. Now for Elissonde to hopefully eke out a top 20. |

Well I dont like losing that much to Trfimov, but its not the end of the World. Now Spilak is slightly ahead of Phinney, which is nice. I so badly hope that Spilak will actually use his climbing strength now to get the stagewin, and gain a minute or so on Phinney, and 2-3 minutes on Trofimov. I hope the fact that our team is very strong here will do the trick, otherwise I guess I cant expect Spilak to win any races this year.
Well done from Coppel and Lecuisinier. I hope the latter will keep fighting to get a good GC resukt also.
Really feel bad for Gesink here, that was not enjoyable at all. I hope that Spilak and him can go crazy on the mountain together.

Quite a lot of time for Dombrowski to lose... Valverde doing pretty well though. Bring on the mountains!
