Great way to wake up in the anniversary day..
My team finally achieves victory, Kupfernagel will lose the jersey in the next stage, but hopefully in stage 5 can once again win.
Also Vakoc to show, to be in shape which opens up good chances to win in the two hill stages, being one of the best in this type of terrain present in this race

Hoffman with a great result! Can't fault him for that, he's not the fastest out there (but definitely one of the strongest).
GC boys really getting into the mix here! I see Kwiatkowski, Valverde, Bennett, and Havaardsholm are really keen to stay out of trouble. Quickly realised that with PCM14 the GC favourites really get involved in the sprint finishes.

Well, we've had our fun.
Good positioning from Castaneda but the Karcher train was too much there. We might see some good sugar in the break now that we have lost the lead. Thank you tsmoha. |

Wasn't expecting a top-10 from Kwiatkowski on the flat stages, but a nice bonus going into the mountain stage where the real fun should start. Damage limitation first before hopefully some attacking riding on the hills.

Avila doing a decent job with positioning in sprints and picking up scraps - 6th then 5th doesn't deliver huge points, but on the other hand is pretty decent for a 2nd-line sprinter. Keeps us interested in the flat stages at any rate!
Thanks as always to TSM for the reports.

Guillen?! Kinda pointless doing all that work for him if he's not even gonna finnish top ten, now beaten by a climber and a unmaxed puncheur aswell
Now onto the real fun, lets go Pantano and Landa!

So, Alak looks set to post the final stage of Tachira tonight. I would rather not clash this final stage with one of the key stages of Eritrea (even more, since the races clash anyway), so depending on when Tachira will be finished today, I will go on with Eritrea either later this night or early tomorrow!
Actually, roturn may post the next two stages tomorrow, but that won't change a thing for you

Nice to see Vesely doing this good. 2nd place is awesome. Vakoc being active as well, promising things to see.

So as tsmoha did send me the reports for today, here the 3rd stage. This evening the 4th will be posted.
I am quite surprised to be honest. Berhane and Van den Broeck behind is awful.
Who would have thought that Samwel is African`s best here at the moment?`
Nice result for Kenya though, who really have a nice early season.
Feel sorry for fjoekie as he had high hopes in Krasnoperov. That said, it`s Krasnoperov and he used to perform like this. |

Nice to see Txurruka attacking and joining the breakaway. Also interesting to see Arroyo have an early attempt.
My first sight of Valls is positive! A strong 4th place, the goal is a Top 5 so hopefully he can achieve it.

Grande José!
Really great performance by Rujano. Now, only to hang on those hilly stages, and it's in the bag. |

So... Kashechkin to hopefully get into the top 15 now... A Efimkin is way too far down to do anything, except win a stage maybe...

Huge statement from Rujano after failing to get the GC on home soil in Tachira. Congratulations, Miguel98!
And with such a big lead in the GC, it's difficult to see him loose it, but when Van Den Broeck looses 2'39 on a mountain stage, it's definitely unpredictable.
Kwiatkowski punching above his weight, and as roturn said, he continues Kenya's nice start of the season. He's certainly looking good for an overall podium now considering his hill stat.
And thanks for the report, tsmoha and roturn |

AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Okay, I've done that and hit my desk so now I feel a bit better.
I'm kind of pissed off. This was never going to be the toughest mountain stage and sending VDB was always going to be a little bit of a risk for that reason but he should at least have been in the first chase group. Now I'm just scrambling for whatever leftover points I can manage. I don't see him gaining anything on the hilly stages, but I'd like to be proven wrong.

About right I think for Valverde, now hopefully he can come up with the goods on the hill stages. Thanks for the reports!

Well, that just happened.
Don't understand it. But, I like it! What a result with the pressure off. Iglinskiy - 2nd - when he was struggling at the rear I thought a top 20 was unlikely - but 2nd!
The Kazakh is decent in the hills, so he might stay up there for a decent GC place. Having said that I didn't expect a top 10 there, so who knows. Crazy, crazy! |

That went well.
Kwiatkowski in third is way higher than I expected. With +5 hill on Rujano I'm hoping he can drop him on one of the hilly stages and try and close that gap. A podium would still be great if we could hold onto it though. Samwel in 6th is a huge bonus as well. If he can cling on to a top-10 place now this race could be another big scorer for us.
Unfortunate for the likes of BPost and Eritel, but their riders can probably salvage something with good hill stats. Thanks for the report tsmoha. |
