@Jak: Well signing with them is not a done deal just yet
*****
Sorry to everyone for the slowing of the story. The Lucky Strike Pack, Man Game jersey and also trying to implement tsmoha's NRS stats in the db is very time consuming - especially when I am unable to use the Excel Editor because I have LibreOffice. Any volunteers, with a DB background, to help add the stats and riders in the DB, please give me a PM.

Just found this now, but this looks really promising. Good luck with it! Living in Australia I think both teams would be equally as interesting from a spectator and entertainment point of view... |

@Pinktay: Thanks a lot! Nice to see you back, and following
*****
I have finally been able to build up the db to where I want it to be. I have said it before, but I will say it again - Thanks a lot to tsmoha for the graphics and db stats from his NRS story! They are really going to enhance the story and the game itself.
Also, I have added a little extra to the previous posts, and it will be shown on all posts going forward. Taking influence from TMM's story, I am going to be basing this around an autobiography. Each area will be in done in chapters, with Quick Links to each chapter being on the first post

Now That's More Like It
Chapter One
Patrick joined me on the short trip to Geelong to meet up with everyone from Drapac, mainly because he wanted to chat with the Management Team whilst I was out on the road with some of the team.
The morning exchanges and meetings were brief, and then we hit the road. Thankfully, unlike UnitedHealthcare, it would be a group ride and a very pleasant one at that.
We were out for 2-3 hours or so, and the feel amongst the riders was good. Some of them knew me from the Domestic scene, and it appeared the others had heard my name from friend's in the peleton. Returning back to the base, all seemed well, but Patrick needed to take to one side and chat.
We found a quiet place, and he let know what was happening. Whilst he was mid conversation with Drapac Bosses, he got first a text and then a call from Budget Forklift. They knew I was with Drapac, and wanted me to come by and chat with them. Just over an hour later, I was in Ballarat, shaking the hand of Tim Leunig.
The team were on a early season training camp, preparing for the Nationals so only the Aussie riders were present. Just like Drapac, it was a group ride, and the pace followed that of an early season ride. It was a good spin of the legs, and the atmosphere was like a big family. It was chatty and they made me feeling really welcome.
The drive home back from Ballarat was just Patrick and I chatting about the day. It had been long, but I had enjoyed very part of it. Neither of us could say a bad thing about either team, whether it was group ride or the chats with the management. It was now just a case of playing the waiting game on whether they would get in contact.

A good start to the team picking journey!! Both great teams. I know Tim personally. He is a good guy. You'd be in for a treat at Budget. A good atmosphere in that team but Drapac seems good as well! A hard choice ahead!

Very well written texts and such a great layout, such a lovely introduction!
Hoping for some racing soon, be it either for Drapac or Budget Forklift.

Decision Time
Chapter One
The wait for the phone calls to come through felt like the longest wait of my life. Patrick swears that it was only 3-4 days, but to me it felt like weeks!. The first to call was Avanti, who wanted to formally let me know that I would not be having my contract renewed. The team had drastically bolstered itself for 2014, and sadly there was no room for me. Whilst I was a little disappointed to be leaving, I knew it had been on the cards.
Next to ring was UnitedHealthcare. Despite my poor feedback on the ride with Euser and Bolivar, the management were still keen to have me on board. However, I would need to come back to California, and see how I got on with another group of riders first - Safe to say that I politely declined the offer.
Finally, the calls I wanted came through. Drapac called first, and came straight in with an offer:
Contract Specifics: | Monthly Wage: | 2,500€/m | Contract Duration: | 1 year | Team Role: | Team Mate |
The offer was standard enough, and I was exactly what I had hoped for. I asked for some time to think about the offer, and I would get back to them. I hung up the phone and waiting for Budget Forklifts.
Their call would come just 30 minutes later, and there was more to the call than just being given an offer. Tim chatted to me about where he saw my time with the team going, and the type of role I could play. Yes, he saw me a domestique working for the Team's Leaders, but he wanted to see me develop as an all-round rider, even riding for myself if the situation was right. I was taken aback by this, but then came his offer:
Contract Specifics: | Monthly Wage: | 2,750€/m | Contract Duration: | 1 year | Team Role: | Luxury Team Mate |
I kept Tim on the phone as I went over everything with Patrick. We were both in an agreement that it was I couldn't turn down. Over the phone, I verbally agreed to join Budget-Forklifts, and eagerly awaited the full contract in the post. Now, I just had to wait for the seasons start at the Nationals in Buninyong.
