Hello again.
With the manager announcing he has begun his season planning, I thought it might be wise to chip in, with a few ideas of my own. Of course the final decision always belongs to the team boss, but there are of course some races I would like to ride.
Naturally the most pressing issue is the upcoming season part, but I also felt a general overview would be helpful, as a long term plan is always better. Another thought is that it might be best if I was to steer clear of the WT this year, since I am not really at a competitive standard yet. With that in mind I would like to ride the following races for the first season part.
Tour of San Luis
Criterium International
3 Days of De Panne
(14 race days)
And for the following season parts:
Tour of California
Tour of Norway
Tour of Belgium
Tour of Luxembourg
(23 race days (total 37))
Tour of Austria
Post Danmark Rundt
Tour of Britain
Chrono des Nations
(27 race days (total 59)
These are just my thoughts, and I understand the team might not even wish to ride many of these races. I would be perfectly happy to switch races in almost every case, but the more time trials I can ride the better of course!
I have been training hard for the new season, and I really feel I can justify the team signing me. As a time trial rider I do my best in individual events, but I can tell this is a great team, and I am looking forward to a successful season for everyone at Cofidis
Glad to hear the training is going well and I am looking forward to seeing you race in the coming season.
Our thoughts for the season match in most respects, these are the races on my draft schedule that match your list.
Criterium International
3 Days of De Panne
Tour of Norway
Tour of Belgium
Tour of Luxembourg
Post Danmark Rundt
Chrono des Nations
For early season Cofidis traditionally go to french speaking Gabon rather than San Luis but that race doesn't have an ITT. Alternatively I am thinking of Volta ao Algarve for you which does have an ITT. What do you think?
Instead of Tour of Austria I was hoping you would help us with the TTT in the Giro del Trentino to set up Pellizotti for a good result.
These changes free up some days for another race.
I hadn't considered the Tour of Britain but it is only a short hop from Northern France so even though we don't have any British riders I think I might give it a try.
I just want to quickly ask if racing in the tour of Luxembourg would be possible, as it is in my home town. Racing a Dutch race would also be interesting for me.

Definitely Charlie, the Tour of Luxembourg is on the list and you are in the squad.
As for a Dutch race I am hopeful to get a wildcard for the Benelux tour. Other than that I am open to suggestions .

Hercule
ok, merci.
Good to be in the Luxembourg squad, would the team be racing the volta Limburg?
I am very pleased to announce Cofidis have been accepted for the following World Tour Races. Race planning is well underway and a schedule will be published soon.
Paris-Nice
E3 Harelbeke
Gent-Wevelgem
Tour de France
I was a bit hasty publishing the Grand Tours as we did not get a place for the Vuelta - thats 21 race days to re-plan.

OK a preview after the race has started is not very timely but in my defence I have been spending a lot of time on my first ever season planning exercise.
Cofidis traditionally start the season with a visit to French speaking Gabon. I submitted the start list before doing the full season plan so I was conservative with the team selection which means our squad is not very strong.
The route is quite lumpy so I have sent hill sprinter Julian Alaphilippe for the sprints.
GC chances are with Romain Hardy who is OK over the hills but unlikely to be competitive.
Our only hope of a result is probably from breakaways, our most attacking riders in this race are Mickaël Delage and Anthony Geslin.
Overall I am not expecting any results from this race and I am very excited just to have a team on the start line
Thanks for the schedule, I'm very excited looking at the races. Especially because I get to race heaps of cobbled races and in all my home country. I hope we get the required wildcards.
