He's not approved yet, too many points.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I thought he corrected his rider. Anyway, it's practically confirmed.

I am Kristjan Palmarsson, and here I show you how myself was introducted to the UCI for getting my licence: (it´s about my background and cycling experience)

The powerhouse from Reykjavik. Kristijan started bike racing with 16 due to the issue it´s not that popular in Iceland. Since than he rode down the south coast day by day after school, but not in a club how it would be expected. With 17 he joined the local club in Akranes. He got quickly a well respected part of their team. The problem for him was, the important races in Iceland are mostly inside the island, so that means climbing for days. With his 2 meters of length and 92kg he fell of quickly then, it became disappointing for him.
After a year without racing for the club, he gave himself another go. One year of training down the south of Iceland should lead him to new racing confidence. He lost 5kg to deliver on the mountains of the national road race. At the time trial was without any chances on the hilly parcour, but in the road race he felt very good after half of the race. The flat rough road on the Vatnajökull fit him perfectly, so he decided to attack the big riders. He went away by a minute with only 20 km to go when he reached the final climb, having the big volcano Grimsvötn already in his view. Climbing up the now better road, his legts gave up. With a lack of power he finished eleven minutes down on the best; he saw them batteling for victory and passing by when the climb was just 2 km on.
This was a crack for him, no bike riding for him for a month, then he went to train again. With his unzipped Vacansoleil jersey in every climate, cold or really cold, rainy or snowy or even sunny. Weather is no issue for him. He started watching bike races by the time he started racing himself, and his effort to start up again was inspired mostly by his Vacansoleil jersey. The victory of Thomas de Gendt at Stage 20 of the Giro 2012, was his moment, something he would work for day after day after day. He rode some races with now better results, and got his first victory on the Icelandic Road Rice series on a criterium around Keflavik with a Finesseur attack.
Icelands national management saw him there and gave him a chance to show his power - maybe only because of his young age - at he Arctic Tour of Norway. He was the first time out of Iceland with his bike, and that´s why he was maybe the only man who felt really warm there. It was an amazing experience for him, 2 times he could bring his captain to the final kilometers for sprinting near the top 20 riders.
This races lighted up a fire in his eyes. Team Sparebanken Sor offered him the chance to ride there until the end of the season. By the time he did better and better, and the season ended with a victory of Sondre Enger lead out by Kristjan in a one day race of the Norwegian National Tour.
It was an amazing experience to ride with such a great talent like Sondre, so when he came back to Iceland in winter time he started to request for a place at a CT, PCT or even WT team.

So I am very happy to ride with my teammates. Now I´m preparing for my neo-pro-season in the Netherlands. With another neo-pro I like a lot we share a flat near Rucphen, just to have good Training conditions and don´t have to make too my kilometer in plains. I´m looking forward to our first Training Camp, where I want to meet and show my teammates which rider will work for their victories and attack for celebrating together.

News

Firstly we would like to welcome all our new riders to the team and we hope you enjoy racing with Vaconsoleil, if you wish to discuss your calendar next season, contact me with your opinions or goals, although nothing will be cemented until the end of the transfer period.

We would also like to announce that Vaconsoleil has some plans to really improve the team next season, nothing can be announced that we haven't stated before, because we don't wish to provide false information, but we would like to add more strength in the mountains.

We would also like to announce that we are planning a pre-season training camp in the French Alps from the 11th to the 18th of January, all riders are expected to attend to get some pre-season form into their legs. It will also be a good chance to meet some new riders.

Cyclegate: Garmin's manager summed it up pretty well, so we just want to say that all integrity should be kept and that we believe the UCI will serve a fair punishment.

Cyclo-Cross: Nicky Van Drenthe, one of our new signings will be riding cyclo-cross this off-season, we would like to wish him all the best and encourage other riders to do the same.

Neo-Pro-Diary of Kristjan Palmarsson

So the new season starts soon, and in comparison to many other young riders I won´t go for cyclocross races. My decision is made due to the risks of injuries and form buiding for the main season...After the resting time at home in the amazing south of Reykjavik, I could ride my first km for the new year together with former national champion Ingvar Omarsson and David Sigurdsson.

bjartur.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/21-9-2012-14-09-08.jpg

After that I had a good time with my friends from my Sparebanken-Sor year. Sondre, Bjorn Tore, Fridtjof, Kristian and I met a flat for a month together. We found a nice flat for a month in the north of spain (too good that the prices are cheap in Spain right now), so we had a great training time together with also a lot of fun beside the training if you know what I mean ;). I had some great days, but really a hard time, especially when Bjorn Tore decided he would like to built up some mountain form and we went climbing in the Pyrenees. Coll de Pal is really hard...

www.climbbybike.com/profile_520/Coll_de_Pal_Baga_profile.jpg

But we had nice training conditions especially with the surprisingly good spanish infrastructure up there.

So I am writing just from being back home now. Here we will prepare for our Alpes training camp, where we finally meet up as Vacansoleil-teammates. It will be so hard to ride with them in the mountains, but I will ride my ass of to stay with the best and maybe see who will be my partners in my preferred terrains. They will suffer like me to climb these big ones, and if we can breathe enough for that we can talk about future races, plans, leadouts and even hobbies or family.

I am looking forward to have the next talk to you, if you have questions just ask so I can put it here in my Neo-Pro-Diary.

See you, Kristjan

Well actually Johann Nokkvason is the Icelandic National Champion at the moment...

True, Nokkvason fought hard for that title!

In 2013 Ingvar won it real-life, so he probably searched that up.

Anyway great piece! Grin

We won't release names yet, but Vaconsoleil is looking and likely to sign a few riders, likely a sprinter or two and two very strong climbers. We will not release details until transfers officially open.

Also, if any riders want to make any requests about rider signing next season, please contact me immediately.

In other news, we will begin to organise schedules in a few weeks time, so could all riders please consider their interests about what races to target next season.

Thanks,

We have been busy this transfer period and we have had a number of riders mentioned for transfers.

We are happy to finally announce that we are in agreement and just waiting for the UCI to accept a deal with Lotto Bellisol, Where Kenny Van Hummel will leave the team in exchange for Lars Yitting Bak. We wish Kenny all the best at his new team and welcome Lars.

We have also signed Fränk Schleck for next season, we believe that the ban for Zipamide was not his fault and he unintentially used the ban substance, we hope he can renew himself next season.

We are also close to signing many other deals that we hope to announce in the near future, including not 1, but 2 GT top 5 contenders. More details will come later.

I am very upset to see the sale of Juan Antonio Flecha to Movistar, after he was the one who brought we into the team. It doesn't seem to logical to sell our best cobblestone rider at this moment at time. I was really looking to forward to the prospect of training with him through France and Belgium but it looks like the boys we have here including me will have to step up to the plate instead.

Nicky Van Drenthe

Nicky Van Drenthe, we are very sorry that you feel disappointed by this offer, but Jaun really wanted to spend the remainder of his career with a Spanish team, so we could not keep him from going, fortunately, the money gained from this deal will allow us to target the signing of a new cobblestone rider especially with the money we will cobble (get it Wink) together from a few other ongoing deals, if you wish, we will take serious consideration of any riders you suggest to us.

Apologies, Mr Vermuelen

As you know, for me it´s all about racing. I would like to take part in Scandinavian Races as well as get my chances on other races on a flat terrain to show my strength. Otherwise I´m flexible, that means there is nothing I would like or wouldn´t do, I´m happy to help our team to get some points and reach our goals as a domestique most of the time.

Thank you Kritjan,

I will make sure you get to race in Scandinavia and that you mostly race flat races.

Thanks, Mre Vermuelen

As a cobbles classic rider, I obviously would like to take part in a any northern classics races CT, WT or monument. I understand however I'm not really at the top level and with the team being PCT I don't wish to change the plan racing schedule planned for the team in 2014.

I'd love to ride in Holland as much as possible a big target for me would be to take part in the Eneco Tour, I think it suits me pretty well. If Vacansoleil were to obtain a wildcard to a grand tour I will certainly put my hand up for it and I will fight if needed for that place.

Other than the discussed, I trust the manager to be able to fit me into the right races for myself and the team for a successful 2014 season.

Nicky Van Drenthe

Thank you Nicky, we can guarantee that we will try to get some cobbled races and Eneco tour is a definite target for us and we will go for a wildcard in a monument, you would get to race any of this, as for a GT, we can't promise anything, but we will go for a Giro and Vuelta wildcard, but several factors that we don't know yet will impact the squad for that, so we can't promise that you will ride a GT.

Thanks, Mr Vermuelen
