Interesting list, agree about most of this. But I'd put Kreuziger on ** and I'm not sure what Coquard is doing there

I just laugh when people underrate Martin this bad. I mean, he's at least a two star. yes I'm fan boying buyout he fricking won LBL last year! How much more of a favorite can you get!
I mean look at guys with 2 stars: Thomas, EBH, Deveyns, Cunego, Hermans?
I can't seriously believe he is rated that bad even if he hasn't shown amazing form so far.

Actually, he hasn't shown any form yet. No form at all.
And in Wilier's system, two stars stands for:
Two stars represent riders who have shown great form and are able to win races.
So... why should he be two stars then? And why get so worked up about something like that? Wilier just shared his opinion and thereby stated some his impressions of the current season.

well, Mollema hasn't shown great form aswell in my opinion and he's 2*. I think Martin should be a 2* aswell, just because he's one of the best Ardennes classic riders even with little form. |

He's 79 hill in PCM. To me that means that no matter the form he is up there. He's gotten a top 10 in 4 out of the last 5 Ardennes classics, only one he didn't he had a DNF. Do you think he fits this instead?
One star represent riders who can surprise on a good day.
No way! He's listed with a bunch of domestiques and cobbled guys. Especially when Betancur gets the special treatment of an asterisk. At the very least he should get that.

Christ, do you really bring PCM stats into such a discussion?
Martin's 4 out of 5 Ardennes Top 10 won't bring him faster to the finish line though. If Martin's form is worth nothing, it is worth nothing. I'd like to see him in better shape but anything he has shown so far this year, doesn't justify that. It's the same with Nibali or Sanchez or even Kreuziger (who has been comparable weak in Pais Vasco, while beasting through Italy a few weeks ago) and that guy won AGR last year, well - actually, Kreuziger one star I don't really get.
Anyway, they have good results going for them in the past, but the form doesn't look like it will hold up. If Martin does good at AGR, I'm sure Wilier will include him in his Fleche and L-B-L lists (that is to say, if he makes a list again).
Mollema has at least a good result in Arrate going for him though, I wouldn't rate him 2* either. Maybe countryman bonus?

I hope Lampre can lay down some good tactics. Costa, Ulissi and Cunego is decent on paper. Ulissi I think is really starting to show he's one of the best on the hills too, everything past last years Vuelta he's gotten a handful of great results, and a fair amount of wins too. Plus if it comes down to a sprint from a select group, he's a pretty decent finisher.
Costa Im unsure about. He seems good but I think most of his results come from when he isn't really the favourite or someone that is heavily watched. With the Rainbow jersey that might be hard for him.

Your the ones that gave him 79 hill. So if he deserves that, why is he an outsider who can surprise with a place on a good day?

What I dont understand is why people rate Gilbert so high? Last year dindt got any Podium. His last podium was 2 years ago when he got 3 at La Flèche Wallonne. |

@BBL I was just kidding ofc. And we can't look into the future, his 79HI is based on Ardennes 2013, not Ardennes 2014.
@Fickman Well, Gilbert and the Cauberg is just a great combination, and he won Brabantse Pijl, so his form can't be that bad.

And shouldn't that be a key way to predict the 2014 Ardennes?

Not the way Martin won it. And the rest of the 2013 season and the current 2014 season are key as well.

Well I didn't see him anywhere in Amstel last year too
Especially now as the race doesn't finish on Cauberg.
He'll be there for Fleche and LBL, just not Amste ( win wise )

@Jesleyh but the thing is that he hasnt been in the Podium for 2 years now and about De Brabantse Pijl comon there is no comparation beetween beating Michael Matthews, Tony Gallopin or Simon Geschke and compete against Purito, Valverde and co. But I guess on Sunday we will see. |

L-B-L is much more selective therefore it suits Dan Martin way more than Amstel Gold does where if youre not fast on the finish you will have to win it solo and it will be difficult. |

Looking at Wilier's post, I would put down Gilbert, Hermans, Bakelants, Gerrans, Hagen (wtf?), also Mollema doesn't deserve to be at two stars. At one star I don't get Božič, most Frenchies and Dumoulin.
Kreuziger and Iglinsky definitely **, Colbrelli can be good shot at *. And if someone promote to absolute leaders, it would be Cunego imo.
Die hard fan of Tom Boonen and Quickstep since 2004.
