I don't know... You could go super heavy on one discipline (that isn't TT's or Cobbles) and just kill it. If you got a couple of guys into the Top10 in every stage of that type you could get loads of points.
But yes, smart money is on balance
Sounds great on paper but two 78+ punchuers/climbers could set you back 900k plus on your budget.
Yeah, but they're your leaders if you aren't spending that much on them then you won't do very well.
Yeah i know the point was that people are riding a diverse range of races so wouldn't get just top punchuers they might have to diverse more but who knows we'll have to see i guess. |

That sucks. Two one day races is all we get from Italy, and both of them of a type I have no interest in investing this season.
Might have to replan somewhat, or just ignore the races in our home country completly.
Well this is 100 of your race days, and i imagine another 50-60 are free choice from a selection. Wouldn't lose faith just yet
(it's nice knowing one none HC race though )
80 race days, not 100.

I already know which two bands I wont be picking. One of them has one race I'd be interested in, but its stuck in the middle of a bunch of other races I dont care for, or that the team doesnt specialize in, so I feel it would be better to avoid.

You're lucky, it's way harder for me as a team hoping to have 77+ guys on all terrains

I really like this new system, it looks great!
And guys, it seems like everybody will ride some HC races in which his only ambitions will be breakaways in a sprint stage race or a sprint stage in a mountain stage race. Don't worry you don't have a leader for some races, everything will be the same for everybody.

Hoping for wildcards into Down Under and Manx. Obviously won't be looking for a result but would be nice to be in the breakaway.

After some hard thinking, I managed to pick out my 4 favorites. Now the question is whether I get the leaders I am planning to get
Looks like a great way to shrink the season a bit! |

I really like the idea with these bands, i hope it will work well. I see one band that is sure no-no for us, so one more to get rid of and i have my selection. But it is hard to pick without knowing sure leaders for next season. Iirc these selections are made pre-transfers or even pre-renewals?

I would like to get Down Under and Vancouver Wildcards, but it would probably be a waste of race days to go there.

If I'm right it won't cost you race days to race as a wildcard, similar to PCT teams riding the ProTour. So you would most likely be filler material, but you never know. And as it doesn't cost you anything it's just a fun experience.

Wait... So if I want to ride the Giro it would not add up to my racedays? And what about the rider's max. days?

It costs you 0 of everything, at least it was like that last year...
But i think CT teams racing PCT races could be another case, like when they rode C1 races last year? Or it will also cost 0?

So your riders get the XP, but no race day cost for them or team?

PCT Wildcards to PT:
- You have to pay a fee in order to apply
- It costs you no race days - either for team or rider. (Since it doesn't give you any ranking points)
- You do get the Rider XP from those races
- Race clash restrictions still apply
CT 'Wildcards' to HC
-You can earn ranking points, therefore they do cost race days.

Ah, of course. The ranking points. Forgot about those . But with the new bands you still have chances in HC races, as not every team will be able to send a super strong line up to each race. So you might get to beat some PCT teams

Will there be a possibility for PCT teams to race individual races from other Bands?

I thought the point of the calendar restructure was to avoid have empty/small peloton races.
I understand why not though and it makes no difference to my planning either way

I would love to race in Andorra... BTW, shouldn't the last stage, that was meant to be a classic, have some kind of MT sprints?

Not sure that HC races will suit our programme this year, as we will perhaps be a little too green and inexperienced as an organisation to get the best value out of the experience. However, really liking the new banding structure, and interested to see how applied similairly in CT (and to which races in what packages!). The value as I see it of this approach is multi-faceted; it provides a focus on certain events, and will help the community 'feel' as teams regualrly thrown together throughout the year; perhaps balances a bit better the 'balanced' approach to team building versus focussing on one narrow niche (but without precluding), then relying on luck that races undersubscribed; and fundamentally avoids the underscubscription of races wthin this part of the programme by default.
