Quick question (and i'm sorry if it's a dumb one ):
If i simply install one of those variants pack like the ASO or the FDB, those variants will be used in Career Mode with this Stategy Pack without any problem?
My laptop can barely run PCM13 and this DB was a huge help in getting the 3D play fluid enough to be playable, but i'm already in my 4th season, and i keep getting the same kind of stages and races, it's getting a bit annoying...
Yeah, of course you can, just make sure to use the 2013 versions of those dbs
If you only want a lot of variants, your choice has to be the A.S.O. DB variants pack
And do i need to start a new career fo those variants to be active?
Thanks for the answer!
No, just wait for the next year and the variants will be active

Hi,
In terms of the questions about using this db with another one. What is the best way to install them to use the features of both effectively? I am using PCM expansion pack 13 but want the gameplay features of the strategy pack. Which one should i install first? Once installed i will of course select the strategy pack db from inside the game.
Would appreciate your views on this.. |

If you 100% want to play with the strategy pack all yoy need to do is first install 2013 ep and then overwrite all the files included in the strategy pack

I would have said the same, and anyway thanks matt17br for your replies on this topic
EDIT:
Vanclay, I think you could face some inconsistency for example between jersey graphics and sponsor name if 2013 EP replaced some jerseys of the original game and then you use the strategy pack within the same game installation folder.
One advice I could give for people who wants to use different packs is to make a copy of the PCM2013 folder (no need to perform new game installation). Install one pack on one folder. Launch PCM.exe from the folder which you want to use the pack. Both PCM.exe from the different folders will have access to your personal documents with saved games and databases but will use the in game data from the installation folder.
Note that you will need extra disk space to have another PCM folder.

Hi sylvao! I have installed previously the version 1.70, and I am currently playing the first year with my team. Is it possible to update to 2.01 and to get the improbements (maybe not all of them, but for example the variants, the superprestige modified and the new scouting areas) active from the next year of my career? |

I'm assuming the 2.01 is just a database file, so the changes won't take effect unless you start a new career with that db.

GalaxyMirko: you could install 2.01 pack to get more variants since there are automatically used when available. However you will miss the SuperPrestige modified table and new scouting areas that are from 2.01 database (and therefore need new career start).
However, if you are comfortable with database changes: you could retrieve the changes from 2.01 database and update them into your career. |

- Minor changes to database.cdb and local.cdb
- Difficulty levels are now +2%/+3%/+4%/+5% for EASY/MEDIUM/HARD/EXTREME (Greater scale for challenging levels)

What do you think is the most realistic stat evolution setting? I think 0.5 is too fast, but i have also tried 0.4 (doesn't change a lot) and even 0.3 but there are constantly some riders (Boonen, Rodriguez) that even with 0.3 drop their stats too quickly (Boonen COB from 81 to 78 or even 77 in one year...). Should i try 0.2 or will it be a too slow career?
Moreover, may I ask you, sylvao, if do you plan to update this pack soon? I like to play with the most updated packs... So I could wait (and study) in the meanwhile.

Hi GalaxyMirko,
I generally use the evolution setting of 0.275 (you could set it exactly in the options.xml file).
Regarding quick stats decrease from old riders, this is more a concern with "age of decline" value.
For Boonen, his age of decline was initially 31 which was rather low as you pointed out. 34 should be better I think.
This will be improved in the next update, maybe available at the end of this week.
I want to improve a bit young riders generation too. |

Thank you sylvao, you are precise and helpful as ever, I appreciate even more the work you do behind this excellent pack. It is even more fun to play PCM a few years after its relase, especially when we have got things like "Strategy pack"!
I am not involved with database making, but if I may I would suggest also to take a look of some riders like Valverde, Rodriguez, maybe even Gasparotto, whose age decline seems to be too early in PCM 2013... probably you know about more other riders also looking, if you know, about the newest stats available by PCM (2015, 2014) or other important packs. For the majors, for example also Aru probably could deserve a higher potential, dominating last Vuelta and obtaining excellent results in Giro 2014 and 2015. I don't know if it is relevant, but it could be a possible improvement.
Added further: moreover there are some riders like Mollema and Rui Costa that just become top class GC contenders in 1-2 years, which is quite unrealistic... If you think I am right I think that a quick revision of the potentials could improve your work further
Excuse me for the suggestions, I would not like that you assume them as homeworks!
20/04 update: also people like Alejandro Valverde seem quite not declining at all, but in PCM their stats drop soon... Probably you sylvao know better about other cyclists... But if it is a long long job, you could leave the age decline (or maybe potentials) untouched...

Thanks udoi, GalaxyMirko: all of your above remarks have been considered. The pack has been updated. I don't expect to do another update unless there is a high concern with this pack.
Version 2.07 Update:
- Minor optimizations and corrections,
- Some variants added.
- Database changes regarding rider stats and potentials,
- Improved young riders generation,
- Updated national team jerseys. |

Hi, I can think of another issue that probably could be fixed, it is related to the equipment. I also think that the subdivision for the type of races is better and more intriguing, but in some cases (such as when we select the best helmet for the mountain stage) it leads to unrealistic photo and graphics because that helmet in particular should be used during the flat stages that could end with a massive sprint. So, could you also fix those issues? In brief, to swap the pictures and the graphics of the equipment where it is necessary to do so to get a more realistic graphical result... thanks in advance! And excuse me for those surprise comebacks |

Hey GalaxyMirko,
I've done the fix regarding the helmets. More coherence in the pictures now.
Version 2.10 Update:
- More coherence for helmets,
- Some improvements regarding equipment names,
- Some variants added,
- Some cyclist photos added,
- Minor corrections.
